Cate's Diary

No. I started today. :D I am logging again, rode my stationary bike as warm-up & then did 2 small sets(5 reps) of my strength exercises. I only use 2kg weights (Barbie weights) as instructed by an Exercise Physiologist. I'm going to hop on the bike again today.

:) I have a client who´s just over 50 and perfectly healthy. Well, not really or she wouldn´t come to see me but perfectly healthy for all that matters here. Fit lady, goes running twice a week. And she can´t manage more than half a kilo on her best upper-body exercises. When we first started out she had trouble just lifting the weight of her own arms with the dorsal chain stuff (things you don´t necessarily need in daily life when you work in an office). So don´t feel weak because of the Barbie weights.

Thanks, LaMa & Em xoxo
I know I'm capable of lifting quite heavy weights, but have been told not to. The EP said I'm better off increasing the number of reps with low weights, but, more importantly my cardio said I am never to lift heavy weights as I have an aneurysm. You can't ignore that!
I had forgotten how good it felt to do some strength exercises!

Thanks, LaMa & Julie.
It felt good!
I feel like I'm back on track again. Ideally, I would like to lose another 7.5 kg. It doesn't sound like that much, but it is the hardest weight to lose. I'm back to tracking & exercising. Weighed this morning & am down .5kg.

Tracking & exercising sounds good to me :) Don´t apologize for not having to lose a lot of weight, by the way: it´s harder to get motivated to start when it´s not yet extreme but if you don´t do it it will usually get worse. So go you!

A goal is a goal! And that's what we're all here for - support! :) I wish you well reaching yours.
Happy Monday, Cate!

Good for you on hitting the weights! If I could just lift and do NO cardio and get away with it I would. I love lifting - it's almost like meditation for me.

Thanks, LaMa. My weight was creeping up & I was starting to get very scared. I am back on my old BP meds & am hoping that the weight will start coming back down soon.

Thanks, Jen. Doing weights makes me feel really good but I need to do cardio as well. I have been lazy lately :blush5:
I feel like I'm back in the swing of things & am feeling better about myself.

Thanks, Stan.
My day has not been good.
I won't share it with you just yet, but very briefly I know that I must leave our local golf club. It has lost any enjoyment. I know I am taken for granted & it is no longer enjoyable.
Our younger son has injured himself once again. This time he has nerve damage in his right arm & has been concussed.
*groan*
My day started off poorly & went downhill from there.
Just when you think things are going OK.

Hang on, I can do better than that. I´m Jonesy, of course, and I´m sure you´ll end up being the Commander:

Oh Cate, I'm sorry to hear that. I love LaMa's cartoon though - you're Commander Cate Badass and you can handle whatever comes your way. xx

Thanks, you two lovelies! I don't feel very Commander Cate Badass this morning. I was feeling fairly shattered last night & G & I were waiting for D to call in for dinner on his way to 8-ball. G said "maybe he's forgotten" so I texted him & yes, he had. Don't worry D that G had cooked veg for him as he doesn't like salad & I had bought scotch fillet steaks as a treat. I said to G when you have kids you have to know that you will care for them a hell of a lot more than they will ever care for you. Without trying to sound like a sad & sorry old fart, it's just a fact of life.
G & I picked which club we may join next year. It will be a 120 km return trip to play, but it looks like we would be able to play on the same day each week & we would most probably only play once a week. I had better get sorting out everything to hand over to someone. We have not decided 100%, but I need to be ready to.
I feel a little exhausted today. Instead of going to women's golf we are going to our granddaughter's school concert.

Oh no, sorry to hear you had to leave the club. That sucks. :(

Maybe a new adventure from here out though? Also sorry to read about your son's health.

Yikes, what a shitty day! LMAO Truly hope things look up soon!

Thanks, Jen. Things almost always look better after a good night's sleep, which I had. Just feeling a bit worn out today.
