Cate's Diary

That sounds lovely. Spending time with pleasant, uncomplicated people who aren´t jealous of... you working hard (?!) sounds relaxing :p

It was LaMa. They are the sort of people we should be seeing more of. There is nothing negative about them.
This morning I got on the scales & I have gained 1.5 kg in the last week. Now I am really confused. Something is going on here. I have another appointment to see my doc tomorrow & will discuss it with her again. I may as well go back on the BP meds she wants me on :( It's depressing.
I have a mammogram to have today & would like to get a Christmassy top to wear to a couple of Christmas parties, but I'm dreading trying anything on! EEK!!!

Back from shopping trip/mammogram. I felt SO grossly fat that it is ridiculous. I can't take it. No wine today & am logging my food again. I'm going to fast during the day tomorrow & have one healthy meal of salmon & salad tomorrow night(without any wine).
I bought 2 red tops- one cheap, baggy Christmassy one & then one quite nice red top.
Today <1400 cals(no wine)
Tomorrow <500 cals(no wine)
Wed- Christmas party + golf- still aim for <1400 cals(a little wine)
Thurs- <1400 cals(no wine)
Friday-<500 cals(no wine)
Sat- Golf & Christmas party( 1 wine)
Sun- trip to Hobart (some wine)
Mon <1400 (no wine)
I am going to really cut down my wine drinking & am also going to try for 2 fast days a week until the New Year when I am going to have a very strict month. I have a healthy & positive plan for January. This weight has to go!

From the 5:2 website.
  • Your BMI is: 29.5 (EEK!!!)
  • Your BMR is: 6186 kJ / 1479 calories
  • Your TDEE is: 8506 kJ / 2033 calories
I just checked my weight from the 5:2 site & found that in April last year I was only .5 kg above my goal weight. I was doing 5:2 at the time. <500 cals 2 days a week & up to my TDEE on the 5 other days. Currently, I am 9 kg above it!

Talking to your doctor is a good idea if you've been logging every calorie for a while and don't know why you're gaining. Because that does sound weird and would need checking out!

I talked to her 2 weeks ago & all she could suggest was to stop drinking wine altogether. I'll ask for a referral to a nutritionist I think.

Are you eating a lot of extras around the wine? More cheese, more snacks or chocolate? I'm finding that the extras I was able to get away with for a long time and not gain are really sabotaging my progress all of a sudden. Maybe you're going through something similar?

The good news is that January is a great time to get back on track.

That happens too Em, especially the cheese! I'll certainly be more strict in January but I can't wait that long to lose anything. It's seriously got to me :(

Cheese is a fiend when you´re trying to lose weight. It´s so good though! And while your body is busy processing alcohol it does not care to break down fat so your nightly "fast" isn´t as effective for weight loss as it could be.

I would love to be able to fast twice a week, but every time I try to plan it, it seems like I end up eating more that day. :(

It's a tough time of the year to lose weight. I'll be happy to maintain at this point ...

Absolutely LaMa. I love cheese, but it is not my friend. Losing weight is also WAY more important to me than having a glass of wine. I'm really feeling back on a set path today :D It's a good feeling.

Surprisingly, I am finding it fairly easy Jen! I have felt really good all day. I have eaten 4 large strawberries, which tasted sensational & am not very hungry at all & it's 4.45 pm. I have drunk loads of water & been quite busy. Touch wood, so far, so good :)

Today-
No-one annoyed me at the golf club.
I saw the doctor & told her I need to be back on the double diuretic as she recommended. I told her I don't mind admitting I am wrong. I have gained another 1.5 kg since I saw her 2 weeks. She said that was most probably fluid. I told her what my diet plan is & she approved, including doing 5:2 until the New Year. I am going back to see her in 4 weeks time.
Our younger son rang & he didn't sound too bad (long story). Unfortunately, he has to wait for permission from the insurance company regarding workers comp to have an MRI scan. He may have damage to his neck or spine. He is not in as much pain as he has been. He is basically house-bound though & we are still going down to see him on Sunday, even though he can no longer cater for the big function that we were going down to help him with. He should be covered under workers comp, but it's tricky when he is such good friends with his bosses, one of whom had the idea of the giant inflatable balls, that he was hurt playing with. It was also at his place of work, which is a major hotel. He doesn't want to cause his boss any grief or get her into trouble with head office. As I said- very tricky. I just hope they ok it quickly & he can get the scan & that there is no serious damage! I'm doing quite well not overly stressing.

I forget how well I feel when I get back on track 100% with "dieting". I haven't done enough exercise today, but when I fast I don't usually. I am really looking forward to dinner now I must admit. I'm having some cold salmon & a biggish salad. :D

I assume the bosses have insurance though, right? Especially if they're friends they should insist he gets treated properly.

It is a difficult time of the year to lose weigh. I can relate to this. It sounds like you have a pretty good plan in place and no doubt you will achieve your goal. All the best :)
I am sorry to hear that your son has been injured at work. These situations can be messy sometimes. I hope it is resolved soon.

Oh, they certainly do LaMa. It's a big hotel chain. Workers comp claims can be very tricky though. It was a Christmas function for staff. I do hope he can get this scan done asap!

Thanks, Clackedy. I hope so too. Insurance companies don't have a good reputation & are loathe to agree to anything.

I have managed my fast day fairly well I think. I feel really good. It won't hurt me to go to bed a little hungry.

First: Prayers for your son!

You know, I may give this a try. Two days a week with breaks between sounds more feasible than a 3 or 7 day fast.

It's well worth checking out Jen. The link to their UK website is this https://thefastdiet.co.uk/
I have come to the conclusion that insurance companies are evil.
When I am made King of the world, I plan on abolishing them
They are evil, brawny. They thrive on people's fear. I haven't heard from him today. I really hope he can get this scan done in the next couple of days. If he pays for it himself he would probably void any workers comp claim.

We had our women's golf break-up today & it was a fun day. We all take a "plate of food to share" & there is always SO much food. I chose very well & went back for seconds of the cold meat & salad. Then I did not eat any of the-
pavlova, jelly slice, plum pudding, cheesecake, ice-cream cake, cream puffs, lemon meringue pie......... I didn't even look to see what else there was. I did have some cherries(I took them) & some strawberries that were next to the ice-cream cake. I had 2 wines & lots of water. It was a very hot day.
I felt so much better for not eating dessert! I watched them go back for seconds & felt really good about it all.
