Cate's Diary

Veggies are your friend when trying to cut calories.
They really are aren't they?! I can never believe how much veggies can really fill up a meal with hardly any increase to the calories!

Thanks, Em. My fasting day wasn't bad at all. Some are easier than others & some are incredibly hard. I haven't abandoned one this time around, which is good. I have done 2 a week since Jan. I am also staying off the scales until Wednesday of next week, after 2 more FDs. I may try to do 3 before we go away as I won't be doing any in those 10 days.
Hi, Liza. Veggies are wonderful. I am always amazed when people say they don't like them.

I didn't do any more sorting or packing, but did read a good book & vacuumed the bedroom section of the house. Actually I swept as vacuuming hurts my back. G will do the rest tomorrow.
I have had a lovely day.
@Emilyrose - I love reading books set in Tasmania & today I started & finished Livia Day's "A Trifle Dead". I loved it. One of my favourite series is the Kerry Greenwood Corinna Chapman series & this is similar. I might order another from the library. I love a series!

Yes, yes re: veggies! :hurray: Remember the veggies challenge about a year ago? That was great fun, but the person who started it has disappeared. I wonder if she was just doing it to gather material for a uni course, or something?

Flowers on a golf course would be lovely - I'm envisaging a bed of petunias in mixed colours, and how pleasant it would be as a place to look for a lost ball - as opposed to the prickly, dusty, possibly spidery, bits in between the trees of the golf course I know best. Soft, fragrant petunias... ahhhh.. :) (Of course, it could be roses, which would be quite a different matter!)

Do you want to start another veggie challenge, Amy or will I?
I'm not a flower person unless they are bottlebrushes or other natives. I don't mind other people liking them though. I'm not a purist.

Maybe when you're back from the Nationals? :)
I think I like them all - flowers, I mean! - though it took me a while to see the point of hydrangeas - I used to think they looked like old ladies' hats! :D

Ladies I will join your veggie challenge when you start it assuming we will be getting fresh deliveries by then .
Cate you sound all organised for your trip . I didn’t realise it was a 10 day trip . It sounds great

Your golf trip sounds like a good time, and I see you are planning for it. Not doing fast days while on the road shouldn't hurt and may make staying on track easier.

Do you go to golf courses all over Australia?

Have fun!

I love mixing in a lot of flowers into veggie gardens. Especially medicinal and edible ones. They always look so happy together!

A veggie challenge sounds interesting. I could certainly challenge myself to eat more variety. I tend to limit myself to the same few...

Amy- I loathe hydrangeas. Everyone's different.
Petal- The challenge (for want of a better word) is here- https://weight-loss.fitness.com/threads/vegetable-fruit-challenge.119597/
I'm sure the trip will be fun & I'm trying not to get nervous about it & the flying. I'm mostly organised. Now is when I start switching things in and out of my bag!
Rob- We play at different courses around Tas each month & then each year the nationals are held in a different state. Next year its's Sth Aus.
Liza- I love the flowers that appear on herbs as they attract bees & honeyeaters. Join the veggie challenge. I love veggies & it's good to expand that rainbow of colours. We are just coming out of Summer of course here & the range has been wonderful. It will be more limited over Winter, but we are lucky to have such a choice.

I'm going out to lunch today with the golfing ladies. I don't much feel like it, but will probably enjoy it once I'm there.

I'd like to try fasting but I'm kind of weary. I'm hearing a lot of conflicting opinions on the topic. Also, the feeling of hunger must be unbearable right?

Not sure if you had the lunch yet or not but hope is or was fun .
I am impressed you have packed . I am a last minute packer .

Amy- At the start of each month I will list everything in alphabetical order & do a tally.
Zizka- I do two 500 calorie "fasts" a week & then have about 1600 cals on the other 5 days. The hunger dies down after a few weeks on the FDs. Today I am doing another & have had a bowl of home-made veggie soup for breakfast, which was very filling & delicious. I tried doing 16:8 & not eating until noon each day, but got very dizzy & was advised not to do it by my doctor & cardio.
LaMa- I did enjoy the lunch. It was fun. The food was a bit bland though. I went the "power bean bowl" & expected it to be much tastier. I enjoyed the avocado, beans & salsa part though. I also didn't have any sweets.
Petal- It was fun. There were 14 of us & it sure was noisy, but very sociable. I haven't packed yet & have just started getting things together, like my toilet bag, meds etc & thinking about what I'm taking. Golfing clothes are easy. I have a wardrobe of tight clothes though. I bought a dress to wear to the dinner at an op shop & then another to go under it as it's see-through. It's boho. It really suits me.
Em- Lunch went really well. It was nice being driven too. These lunches really help you to bond with the women. There is going to be a trip away for a couple of nights in April or May. I said I would go.

I am doing my 2nd FD of the week today. I made a great big veggie soup the other day in preparation for today. I'll try to remember the veggies that went into it for the "challenge". Veggies are the main part of our diet. I must start eating more beans & pulses.

Thanks, Em :)
I managed to get some fragrance-free antiseptic wipes today & just a few essentials, like extra meds. I would have bought some canned stuff & some extras if G hadn't been with me. You can see people are spending way more than normal. Their trolleys were overflowing & the supermarket was packed. I don't use the wipes normally, but think they will be very handy for our plane trips especially.

You're sounding nice and prepared for the journey :) Should be fun!
