Cate's Diary

You have been under a lot of stress for a long time so don´t feel guilty about enjoying some peace, quiet and laziness for once!

Thanks, LaMa. I don't really feel guilty about it, but I also wouldn't want to be so lazy every day! I needed it obviously as I also had a really good night's sleep. Feeling rested & relaxed today. I am considering going to see "Lion" the movie today. I loved the book ("A Long Way Home" by Saroo Brierley) & everyone has been raving about the movie. The movie is at 1.50pm & is a 40km drive away. I wish it was on this morning.

I am going to start getting things together for our holiday to Sri Lanka. I will need some hiking sandals. We have a great water filter thingy which we bought when we were going to Italy & France, but it was not needed because the water was so good. I think we'll need it for SL. We'll also need to start getting injections. I love the anticipation/planning but also get a little nervous. I hope we avoid monsoons

Glad you managed to rest and relax, especially with all the drama going on with that guy. I haven't heard of that movie. Is it Australian made?

When are you going to Sri Lanka? That sounds like an amazing trip.

Thanks Cory. It's a Hollywood movie, but has a Tasmanian connection as Saroo Brierley lives here. Here's a link- http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/38645840. Maybe it was released here first.
We're going to Sri Lanka on the 6th of May. I am getting fairly excited! I'll be there on my birthday on the 18th. I love being in another country on my birthday.
Had a fairly productive day today & G & I have done lots of housework. A funny thing happened. We got the dog lead out & our little dog just refused to go for a walk. She usually gets very excited. She sleeps most of the time these days. She will be 16 this year!

Plus Dev Patel is rather easy on the eyes ;)
Is it possible that your fur baby has arthritis and is in pain some days?

Indeed he is LaMa. I just looked him up. I don't go for blue eyed blondes. Our little fur baby does have arthritis I'm fairly sure. She doesn't seem to be suffering, though. I'll keep a good eye on her.

:p I like blue-eyed blonds, but not to the exclusion of others. Arthritic pain can be a reason for dogs to seem "tired", but she could also just feel like a nap day.

I haven't seen Lion yet but it's meant to be brilliant. I think I go for guys with darker hair more but any colouring works for me if they have a nice face. :)
Hope your day is going well.

Lion is faaaaab. A real tear jerker. Beautiful ending. I've brought the book to read, Cate - glad you enjoyed it. Happy packing for the hols! The injections would worry me..I wonder if I'll need them for Cambodia :/ Have a lovely day xxo

So glad the stress of the last few days have passed and that you got to relax. Having something as amazing as a trip to Sri Lanka to look forward to is always a good thing as well. I always enjoy going to the cinema especially when my husband and I make it into a little date day.

Thanks Emily. Yesterday was a very busy, but good day :)
Hi Han- from Travel Doctor-

Malaria is a risk in rural Cambodia."
Hi Morgane, I think we'll start going to the movies more often.
Hi LJ- I must have needed that rest day I think.

It's the 1st of March & I weighed in. OUCH. Back to the drawing board. I have gained 2kg it seems. I started off Feb being full of enthusiasm & being strict & then I stopped weighing myself & started sneaking more things in. I'll fix it. I have 2 months to lose 5kg. I'll give it a good crack. Not sure what my plan is, but I think I will have to make myself get on those scales every day for March & April, cut down on sweets & bread & move more. Sounds simple, right? :D
Better scoot. It's golf o'clock! xoxo

:D No, it doesn´t. But I´m going to try as well! Minus the daily weighing, I don´t care what the scale says as long as I get the free sugar down.

That's funny Emily. I like the time difference too. It's fun being first to celebrate New Year etc. It's also fun having Summer when you're having Winter, but not so much fun when it's the opposite :)
I know Cory, but I was meant to lose 2kg, not gain it!
I will really try to lose this 5kg. REALLY try! I maybe won't weigh every day, but I need to weigh twice a week at least. I am stealing part of Brawny's March plan. I plan on doing 200,000 steps minimum. I want to lose 3kg. I think I may have to have another crack at 5:2! I do not want to go to Sri Lanka feeling uncomfortable.
I played golf today in 30 degree heat. Quite a few didn't actually finish. It felt much hotter. 30 degrees C in Tasmania feels much hotter than that. I played fairly ordinary, but I enjoyed my day. I have done 12,163 steps so far.
All in all, day 1 of the month of March was mostly good. As Kate (hunibun says onwards & upwards)

Well done Cate it can be hard to be out in that heat. What do you make of the 5:2 diet? I have done it previously but I always felt that I subconsciously go over board the day after or before a fast day to make up for it which totally defeats the purpose. Do you have any tips on how to avoid this?

You can do it! Having a higher purpose... your holiday to Sri Lanka... is very helpful (beautiful destination by the way. I am a bit jealous :p)! It's something positive that you can remind yourself of when you feel tempted to make less then ideal exercise or diet choices! :)
