Cate's Diary

Hi Suz, Mystic & Icy, Am in a bit of a hurry as I'm off to women's golf for the Christmas party, IN A DRESS! I may put a photo on some time as I thought I would have a laugh & go the whole hog- black dress, pearls & a black hat with a massive bow at the front.(+ leggings) I hate wearing dresses. I hope no-one thinks this is a genuine outfit!
Icy we live in the "woods", not in a town or city. :D I used to be afraid of creepy crawlies too!
Cheers gals, xoxoxo Cate

It's funny cuz I love camping in a tent (though after camping in an RV I kinda want one - or even just one of those pop-up tent camper things, much more comfy than sleeping bags and easily than air mattresses).
Nice outfit, you should definitely post pics :) I like dressing up when I can. I'm a tomboy with a girly girl side lol. Hope you enjoyed the party!

My golf was dreadful, but our team of 3 were runners-up. I'm glad the day is over really. I enjoy the company of many of the women, but don't much like the company of a group of women. I feel much more comfortable amongst men. They can be bitchy too, but women as a collective can be a bit scary. I want to play golf more often, but may have to go out & play on my own I think, to improve my game & get more exercise.

That hat is absolutely fantastic and you look great!

Also, go over and hack me off a steak from one of those creatures in the background while you're out there.

Hi Cate, you look fantastic...great picture.

I feel the same with "group women" although I have had some good times too with women we trust....just hate gossip.

It's a bit hot here, how is it in Tas? I just hope Christmas day is not too hot.

Lots of love R.

It's funny hearing you talk about hot Christmas when we will have a cold white one here.

And Cate: You look great! congrats on being runners-up :)

Hi Mr Vee & thanks for the compliment. The hat came from the op shop, as did the dress. The cows are indeed beef cows, not dairy. We live in a fairly lush farming district that is a mix of both mainly. You must have been hungry when you saw that photo.
Hi R- Thank you! It has been really hot here too. It sure hits you hard when it arrives. I did a 6 hour shift at the golf club last night as the club was stuck....again....& boy, was it hot behind the bar, stocking fridges etc. It was the Christmas Turkey Run(as distinct from the usual Thursday Chicken Run, held over Daylight Savings) & everyone drank fairly well as it was so hot. They have a barbecue & buy their stuff from you as well, so it was a good opportunity to do some freezer tidying. I made a bit extra for the club last night as some burgers & sausages were left over from another function & when they offered them around I suggested it would be nice to donate them instead to the club. Nice bonus.

Hi Icy & thank you sweets. It's funny hearing about freezing cold Christmases! Most decorations are for the Northern hemisphere & I try to steer clear of them as it seems so crazy when we're usually spending Christmas outside & slapping on sunscreen. No snowmen here! We tend to avoid the big baked hot fare & go for the barbie or a selection of hot and cold. We always have salads. I have trouble imagining what a Canadian Christmas would be like. It just doesn't get that cold here. We are thinking we may go to Canada in 2015. We were thinking our YS would be living there so we would visit him, but I think I would like to see it anyway. I would also like to visit NYC again. It will depend on the situation with our elderly mothers.

I am about to head into town before it gets too hot to do some food shopping. I'd better scoot. I'm playing golf tomorrow in our club Christmas fun day, with my LH & 2 of the vets(male) in a 4 person Ambrose. It should be great fun. They are really nice guys- one's 83 & the other about my LH's age I suppose. They should be good company.
Bye for now xoxo Cate

Had a good day & enjoyed the golf. I'm very inconsistent, but did hit some good shots. I hit my best drive ever & also won 2 golf balls for nearest the pin. I really enjoyed the company & my LH did not tell me what to do or what I had done wrong. Well.....only once, which was much better than the last game we played together. He's learning. I got a call from the Aged Care home re my mum who was very confused & adamant that I was taking her to lunch. She flatly refused to eat lunch there. They don't let me know a lot of what happens, but she is getting more & more confused. This time she was wandering around outside which is a bit more worrisome. They have to let me know some things to cover their derrieres, but I'm glad they don't tell me everything. I rang her when I got home & will visit in the morning.
Overall it was a really good day. We're enjoying the company of our YS who also played today with some friends.
Bye for now xo Cate

I'm getting better at not stressing over Mum. There is nothing I can do that will make her better or change things so I am learning ways of coping with it. I can't say I'm looking forward to Christmas day, but I am looking forward to the end of the day, when we're back home with our feet up.

I am feeling very tired at the moment for some reason. I was also a bit light headed yesterday. It's not even 9am & I feel like I could close my eyes & go back to sleep.I find I get very light headed if I leave too much time between meals. I'll go for a check-up after Christmas. I think it's time for my fasting cholesterol test soon anyway.

We are planning a day at home today. I have been doing lots of tidying up & will do a little more. We borrowed our OS's ute & trailer yesterday & took a load of recycling & rubbish to the rubbish tip & also did a big load from the golf club. It was rainy & the tip was a quagmire. Yuck.

Our OS is working a lot with his children away & he & his GF had dinner with us last night. They both worked & I thought it would help them out as they are also going away for 2 nights over Christmas, while they can. He loves the chooks! I'm so glad I thought of that present! It is really good that we are all spending so much time together. Over the almost 10 years that he was with his wife, we hardly saw him really, even though for most of it, they were just living down the road. It is good for all of us that we are back to being a very close-knit family. Our YS will most probably move back to Hobart in the new year, but that is only a 2.5 hour drive from here & we will have to make sure that we go visit more often than we used to. We will all have to make sure we make time for one another.

I am going to go back to weighing myself at least once a week in the new year & maybe go back to using my fitness pal again. I'll see. I don't feel disgustingly fat or anything, but maybe just a little unhealthy. I need to eat 'cleaner'.

Time to move I think. Cheers for now xoxo Cate

:santa: Merry Christmas everyone! :santa:
I'm back home, with my feet up, drinking a sparkling Shiraz.
Survived the day. Phew!

Played 9 holes of golf today, very badly I might add, but I did get the exercise, probably more than I should have! I have also started logging on MFP again. I'm working my way up to weighing myself soon. xo Cate

Went outlast night & had a ball. Danced& danced & listened to some great rock'n'roll. We got home just before midnight & were quietly drinking a herbal tea before bed, when a van load of drunks arrived, driven by our OS ( who was not drunk!) We thought we had escaped at a good time as they were getting very shabby. There was our YS (VERY drunk) & 3 of his BF's, including one of the brothers who sing & play in the band plus the drummer( a woman). I'm not sure who is still here, but I think it is now only our YS & 1 of his mates.
We left them up playing Snooker down the other end of the house. I got to sleep eventually. My LH has just headed off to golf & is dropping a couple of them off at the deli in town along the way. I'll take the other 2 in later to pick up a car that was left at the pub last night. The 2 that are here (I think) were going to play golf, but I have a feeling I won't be seeing them for hours!

I'm glad we made the decision to come home & not stay at my MIL's empty house. It's good to not have a hangover!

Cheers, xo Cate

It was a lot of fun & I am very glad I don't have a hangover as being so tired is bad enough! It has been a very relaxing, quiet day, with a quick trip to shop & pick up a car & visit both mothers. Have enjoyed watching some Test cricket. We all say that it's not about winning or losing, but how you play the game, but it is good to actually win back the Ashes! Australia loves to beat the Poms, just as I'm sure they love to beat us! It's good friendly rivalry.
I'm attempting to resist eating chocolate!! I'll have to give some stuff away I think.
Cheers, xoxo Cate
