Cate's Diary

Happy New Year Cate!

Have any can't miss stock tips now that you're one year into the future ahead of me?

Thank you Margaret, Icy & V. I'm really looking forward to this year. I feel very positive about it. Sometimes I want to get the previous year over & done with & it is a negative, rather than a positive attitude. 2013 was pretty good for me, especially our wonderful holiday for my 60th. I feel happy and content with my life. I think spending much more time with my family recently has made me feel especially good. Whatever the reason. I'll take it!

We have been out to the golf club, in our working gear today, & gone around the course cleaning the 100 & 150 metre marks. We got rained on, but it was good to get out there & do the job. Our GC is run by volunteers & is a great little 9 hole course (with 18 tees), but there is so much work that needs to be done all the time & there are so few people prepared to do it. We also did some tidying up inside the club house.

Stock tips V? Hmmm. Save up for a trip to Australia maybe?
I'm about to get back into the Nelson Mandela book, "Long Walk To Freedom." & have a relatively lazy afternoon. I will try to get the courage to weigh myself tomorrow!
Cheers folks xoxo Cate

Australia and Argentina (but not Armenia or Albania) are probably my top two "wanna go" travel destinations. Both are very 'spensive and both represent significant language barriers for me.

If you ever go to Argentina, have you considered paying a visit to the Chilean neighbours? :biggrinjester:

Southern Chile is a beautiful place, if you like nature. :)

V-- Language barrier? LANGUAGE BARRIER? You are very cheeky! There is not that much slang used any more but here are a few examples to help you to overcome the barrier! Some I had never heard of! (hope this doesn't constitute spam in the forum:blush5: )

Benny- Thank you my friend & the same to you. Hope this year is a happy one for you!

I weighed!! & I haven't put any weight on over Christmas!! That makes me much more positive & energised! I'll go back on MFP for a week or 2 to get back into the swing of things.

New Year's resolution- is to continue to do what I have been doing for the last few years, but to move more. A minimum of 30 minutes of every day is to be dedicated to exercise. I have so often counted gardening, house cleaning etc as exercise, but no more. Dedicated exercise means either walking, riding my bike, playing golf etc, even Tai Chi if I'm tired......

I feel like doing a happy dance that I did not gain over Christmas/New Year!!!

Bye for now, xoxo Cate

The happy dance would contribute towards that 30 mins Cate :) And it would make you feel ever better! YAY!

But really great job not gaining! And I'm being more strict on myself this year too, I must to reach my goal. My evening job no longer counts as working out. We can do this :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR Cate!!! I'm back on the bus after 6 months of being crazy busy and losing complete focus. Glad you are doing so well and didn't pick up anything over Christmast - totally awesome!!

Hi Icy & Mands. I hardly kept still yesterday nor sat, so my dedicated exercise went out the window & was replaced by non-stop "Summer cleaning." I was exhausted, but exhilarated at the end of the day. I have moved lots of furniture around(BIG heavy chairs included) on my own & have opened up the view to my veggie garden/great outdoors. So often I'm peering around these massive chairs, trying to see birds. Not any more! Now I'll have to make sure the bird baths are always full!

My LH spent hours brush-cutting & also repairing gates that have not worked properly for YEARS. All in all, it was a very energetic & rewarding day. We could both stand back & really see what we had done. Housework is so tedious as usually you only notice when it has NOT been done. At one stage he came inside & said "have you gone mad" to which I replied "Yes, & loving it!"

In the middle of yesterday I had a minor spat with one of his sisters(SIL 2) who snapped at me on the phone. His other sister(SIL 1) just rang & we talked about it. My MIL's home needs cleaning up quickly as a family friend wants to move in for 6 months. My SIL does not want anything thrown out before she personally goes through it. SIL 1, my LH & I are meeting up at my MIL's home this Sunday for a major cleanup! We'll put everything downstairs in the garage/rumpus room & SIL 2 can sort through it there.

Time I went. Mothers to visit, shopping to do. Both sons will be here tonight for a barbie. Our YS is coming back up from Hobart by bus & our OS is working today. The 2 of them are going bush-walking (aka hiking) in the morning.

It's beautiful weather at the moment. We don't get the extremes here. It's going to be about 25oC max. Nice.
Cheers, xoxo Cate

I have been really busy doing more de-cluttering & cleaning & have hardly sat still for a few days. You wouldn't think you could find enough places to de-clutter, but I do. It's a big house! Today we are going in to my MIL's house to have a go at getting it ready for human habitation. Either it will be rented out (very cheaply I might add!) or put on the market. It would be good to have one less thing to worry about. There are so many bills, mowing etc, even with an empty house, & my LH & I organise all that. I'm getting very over it!

My computer is doing weird things & my Google Chrome has vanished & apparently I am only a guest at the moment! I keep turning it off & back on again & that still doesn't fix it. It's only a year old. The amount of ads I'm seeing on Firefox is mind-boggling! Time to go I think! Cheers, xo Cate

Happy New Year Cate and congrats on maintaining during the holidays! I also do MFP to track...I love it! I use to use the SparksPeople app but I find MFP so much easier!

Oh Cate I wish I had time to de-clutter! I did one cupboard and it felt like heaven!! So keep going!!

Hello my lovely :)

Yep, I'm back and I'm gonna TRY and stay. I've started another new diary. I've missed you xoxo

Well done on not gaining over Christmas............I did, LOTS!!!!!!!!

Hi Mands- I have the de-cluttering bug! I am also doing my MIL's house, but not as much as I would like! I won't stop as being surrounded by clutter is not good for anyone. I'm glad I'm not a hoarder.
Kate, Kate , Kate, I have missed you too my friend, but I have also had the pleasure of your friendship elsewhere. :D Here is the place where we can really be honest though, & it's good for us. You'll lose it again sweetie! 2014 is going to be a really good year. Have to go now. I do the bar at the Golf Club on Tuesdays when my LH plays his Vet's golf. He runs the comp so I help him out. "That's what good wives do." is one of my cheeky sayings. :newangel: Mwah xoxo Cate

Have done a pretty good job the last few days of organizing my place as well. I guess that's what good bachelors do too. :)

That actually sounds like a nice thing to do together. Hope you had fun!

De-cluttering & tidying up is really good for you I think. Actually moving in itself is good, but achieving something at the same time is even better!
I played 18 holes of golf today. YAY!!!

Good job on the golf. My game is coming along except for my short game, which stinks to high heaven.

My putting has been atrocious! My favourite shot is chipping in, just off the green. I use my 7 iron & use it like a putter. LOVE that shot. It's my best. It has to be because I have felt confident with it, right from the start. Golf sure is a game of confidence. On the other hand, the sheer stupidity of thinking I can get out of really tricky situations, instead of "taking my medicine" & just chipping out onto the fairway(or taking a penalty drop), still dogs me. I think I may have learned a very valuable lesson yesterday! :blush5: An 11 on the 17th because of it. It was a comedy of errors!

I'm going to play another 9 holes today with our YS in the chicken run. My LH is playing golf at a lovely course in a Vet's comp today. I NEED to practise, practise, practise!

Just played 9 holes of golf with our YS & it was good fun. It is a beautiful day today- temp around 25oC-, no wind......perfect! We visited the mothers & are now sitting, relaxing with a pot of herbal tea. A good day! :D
Cheers, xo Cate
