I feel you on the issue of the plane tickets. What method did you use to purchase them? When we buy tickets to go to dh's country we usually go through a travel agent that specializes in that country. The prices online for tickets to Japan are outrageous so for us it comes out much cheaper going through a travel company.

It's so nice that your boyfriend will get to meet your parents. Is it his first time visiting your home country? Take care and good luck with the trip planning!

we are buying them directly from the airline, it seems to be the cheapest option at present.

He has been to London with me, but we didn't get chance to go home whilst we were there, so it will be his 2nd trip to the UK and first meeting my parents :D

Ooooh Japan, id so love to go there. it looks so beautiful. how often do u go?

Well only 1.3lbs lost last week.

Hey 1.3 lbs is better than nada, little lady. If anything, you should be excited and proud of yourself. :D
As for your meals, I have one word for you that I am going to repeat over and over. PLAN!PLAN!PLAN!PLAN!PLAN!PLAN!PLAN!PLAN!PLAN!

Hmmmm.... I think she's emphazing the idea of planning out your food ahead of time. HAHAA! Amy, you rock! HA! And yes, I totally agree with her as well. I try to pack stuff the night before. Example, I mix my protein shake (milk and whey protein powder), then toss it into the freezer over night, so I have it ready for the gym the following day after weight training. I wake up at 5:30am every day to get my husband's shite packed and ready to go. Within that time, I make sure to get food in me before hitting the gym. I can't workout to my optimum level if I go below 400 calories just with breakfast alone... so I make it a point to eat. (Everyone's body is different, but I swear, I eat more than my husband. HAHA!) You hear people saying that it's better to workout on an empty stomach, but bugger that bullshit... you need energy to push through cardio and weight training. It's as simple as that. Here's a few tips that may work for you or might not:

1. Before grocery shopping for the week, lay out a meal plan for that whole week. (Lunch and Dinner.. breakfast is pretty easy, since you can plan just about anything at a drop of a dime.)
2. Plan to have more veggies or even fruits in each meal regardless of what it is. (Ie: ordering pizza? Make a garden salad before eating pizza.)
3. Keep peanut butter and whole wheat bread on hand. It's a great snack and awesome source of good fats, protein, and good carbs.
4. I pack a cooler when I go to the gym. (This is my usual stock: 4 pint sized waters- 8c all together, a fruit, protein shake or 1% cottage cheese with fresh fruits for post workout snack.) People think it's funny that I have a small cooler with me when I enter the gym, but it really comes in handy. At times, I go shopping after the gym, so instead of starving I drink water and eat my fruit. The postworkout meals are awesome because they contain at the least 24g of protein and it's good to eat within an hour after a hard workout. I win, so fuck em if I carry a gay pink cooler. LOL!

Yeah i know amy and Sheryl i need to PLAN. i talk about this so much and write down plans, but it never works, like ill be missing something or not feel like the planned meal etc. I guess i just have to write down a weeks foods, eat them and get used to it !!

hahaha i like your cooler idea. I tend to take just my ipod and a water bottle that i refill whilst there. when i get home i shower, cook bf's dinner and then comes me and my food. I often find im not as hungry after the gym..any ideas why? Ive heard my biggest meal of the day should be lunch, and ideally after the gym i just find it hard to eat alot in that time slot.

hmm.. But yes im going to try AGAIN to work out a meal plan for the week. Fingers crossed.

It'll take awhile to get used to. You will get better at planning. I have ADD and I manage to get it done. It just took awhile. I am never hungry after workouts so I chug a protein shake for it's benefits immediately after and have a small meal about an hour later.

I read Women's Health each month and the current issue has a great article called "Muscle Defined". You need to read this. Very informative and helps you understand your muscles and what you can do to get the best results.

Ditto on this end. I'm ADD and even though I'm not quite hungry after a hard workout, I make it a POINT to drink my protein shake... then I get home and eat a full meal. Faye girl, just try planning say a Monday-Wednesday meal plan and see how that goes.

Add some nuts to your snacks. They have good fats, protein, and will make up some of the calories. Trail mix would be great for energy.

Peanut butter is actually good for you even though it is high in fat and calories. Just done't eat a whole tub at once. Here's an article explaining the health benefits.

when looking at unsalted nuts -check the labels - a lot of them are roasted in oil... and not always a good oil... you want to check the ingredients list and make sure it says nuts and nuts only.

trail mix can also be high in fat - and not good fats either - do label reading...

Good point Mal. I should have elaborated on that.

I make my own trail mixes with home dried fruit, Fiber One cereal, peanuts, almonds, sunflower seeds, and a few cashews. YUM! I have a recipe if anyone would like to try it.

It's sounds like it is going to be a lovely trip! We used to go back and forth once or twice a year when we were students but have not been back in two years! it's looks like we'll be back around next spring or fall to live permanently so I need to lose the weight by then!

Hey girl,

hope the day is treating you well. I was taking a look at your meal plan. I just have a few questions:

1. Are you taking a supplement? It seems you may be a bit low in calcium.
2. Are you limiting dairy in your diet? (It's okay to drink 1c of milk as opposed to just 2/3... calcium as well as a few extra calories and needed fats/ protein)
3. You know those V8 fusions, you're better off eating fresh fruit and adding a bit of protein to that. (ie: apple slices with almonds)
4. Is there a possibility of getting a bit more whole grains into your diet? Even if it's a slice of whole wheat toast with a cup of milk.
5. I know prepackaged meals are convenient, but aren't you some mega chef on that end? I bet you can cook a killer meal that's not only a lot more nutritious, but also cheaper.

Alrighty, mama... I hope the Zombie party planning is going well. :hug2:
