BugDude is back, and has a plan

No worries, you made those 40 minutes count. Guitar is a great thing to mess with. " I now find that when I eat something bad, it makes me feel sick. That should tell me a whole lot right there about the importance of quality food. " I hear you on that, man. But it's great that you're feeling that way and eating better overall. Doing extremely well, BugDude.

When I started it was a little misty and the road was just barely damp. I knew it was supposed to rain today but thought I might be able to get out and beat the rain. WRONG!!! I got 3 miles from the house and the bottom fell out. I got caught in a deluge of Biblical proportions. I didn't know socks could absorb so much water your feet felt like lead. It was raining so hard I literally could not see where to turn to make it home. But, I made it. If I had taken soap with me, I could have saved myself a step this morning.

that sounds shucky... i don't like to wear shoes or socks in wet weather. hope the weather improves! great job on the calories burnt! maybe that extra "lead" helped burn even more? haha....

Wow, good job pushing through that rain!! Most would have turned back around I think!

Oh, I cut it short and took the most direct route back home. I just happened to be 3 miles away when it started so had to trek 3 miles back home (about 15 minutes in the downpour). Nothing else I could do at that point. Nowhere to stop and get out of the rain and no other option but to go on home. You can only get so wet and I was waterlogged.

No rain this morning, but I fought the wind the entire ride and still averaged 13.1 mph!!!!

4/30 Weigh-in: 299 -27 lbs

This is up 1 pound from a couple weeks ago. I'll never understand how my body works. I exercise and burn thousands of calories per week, strictly control my calorie intake, and lose 0 for 2-4 weeks then suddenly drop 4-6 pounds overnight weeks later.

Oh well. I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing and the rest will work itself out over time.

I sometimes have that kind of weight loss too. Sometimes it's more 'normal' but sometimes I get those crazy wooshes!

5/2....22.04 miles....1 hr 41 mins....13.1 mph....2635 calories

Got up early this morning and hit a local bike trail that goes through a wilderness park. Perfect weather, 72 degrees, low humidity. 22 miles is a comfortable distance. Even though I averaged over 13 mph, I still felt good at the conclusion of the ride and not totally drained. Came home and did some yard work, had to go to work for a couple hours, and taking the family out tonight. For a ride in excess of 20 miles, that's the fastest I've gone for that long.

Thats an incredible ride, good job! Just read the first and last page of your thread and I'm impressed with your burns. I'm also a nada-nada-nada-whoosher. Its demoralizing at times but I measure also and find that my body is changing even when the scale is not moving.

5/3....10.15 miles....48 min....12.8 mph....1192 calories

Was fighting the wind the entire ride today, which wore me out. I was intending on doing a 12-15 miler but not in that wind. With 2 miles left my average was over 13 and the last couple miles I was riding into a stiff wind the whole way. I did a 2 mile ride with my wife and son right before I did this ride and didn't count the time or distance (since riding with them is like creeping along). We'll call that my warm up.

Your ride in the wind sounds awful, but also a good work-out. lol at the warm up ride with your wife & son! How was golf?

I shot a 1 over par 73. I had 5 birdies and 6 bogies. I 3-putted twice on the front nine, but chipped in a birdie on another hole. That kind of stuff evens out over the course of a round. I also came within 6 inches of a hole-in-one on the same hole that I aced in September 2013. Tap in birdie. My bogies were from getting out of position by missing approach shots in the wrong place (above the hole, short-side of the green, etc.). If I had played smart I could have been several under par. But the wind was blowing quite a bit so distance control was difficult on approach shots.
