BugDude is back, and has a plan

I was still fatigued this morning so I went this evening. After my ride I broke out my resistance bands and worked out the upper body with them. It felt good, so I'm going to try to work that in also. I've got to leave early in the morning and won't get back until late, so no ride tomorrow. That's ok though, I've been hitting it pretty hard and can feel it.

Felt good this morning so I pushed it further. I'm going to start pusning my regular morning rides out a little bit and find a good route to make it a regular thing. I have a goal of 300 miles in May. I'm about halfway there and it's about halfway through the month.

I intended on going 13 miles this morning, but I was fatigued. My energy level was down, speed down, and I ran out of energy the last couple miles. I may need to rest tomorrow to be fresh for longer rides this weekend.

I got everything ready to go last night and was at the bike trail ready to ride when the park opened at 6:30am. Great 25 mile ride, I took it easy the first 5-6 miles and I cranked it up to a faster pace the last 3-4 miles and finished strong with a good average pace. I've done a couple 30 milers a while back but they really kicked my butt at that time. I'm thinking with proper pacing I could start doing 30 milers without being totally drained. I may still wait a little bit before I increase my long rides just to err on the side of caution.

I'm at 89 miles for this week...11 short of my goal. Maybe I'll sneak in another 11 miles this evening. I did 100 last week and I was really pushing to do the same this week. We'll see.

I was still pretty fatigued from yesterday. Pushed through it but may need a rest day soon.

I was going for pace rather than distance this morning. 13.9 is one of my fastest rides of 10+ miles.

I'm just quietly pounding out mile after mile. I'm shooting for 350 miles for the month of May. I'm at 224 miles for the month through this morning. 12 days to get 126 miles...should be no problem.

Intentionally did a little slower pace in a lower gear (more rpms) and stretched out the distance for a weekday ride. Felt good and could have gone further but didn't want to use up all my energy to ride again in the morning.

Did a longer slower ride this morning. Saving energy for the next couple days.

I hear you like biking ;)

Slightly addicted to it...

So I got some biking gloves and that made a big difference on my hands. I also got a frame mounted tire pump, a spare inner tube, a tube patch kit, and a few tools. Ready in case I have a flat out in the middle of the wilderness park bike trail (no vehicular access).

I just doubled up my 10 mile route in the neighborhood this morning instead of going out to the bike trail. Had to take my son to a soccer game this morning and didn't have time to go out there. I intended on a slower pace of 13 mph but I couldn't seem to slow it down. I'm used to doing this route faster. I also got my other Volkswagen back today. It's been off the road over a year having the bottom part of the car refabbed. It's a 62 Bug with 60s flowers and peace signs, 60s sayings, and 60s rock band logos painted all over it. I've been working on it for 8-9 years. It's far out.

I should hit between 350-375 miles for the month of May. Really been pushing it hard lately.

i have that issue with running outside! I try to slow myself down, but find myself right back up to the same pace again!

Today was a "recovery ride" and I was successful in keeping my pace down. I took it easy, stayed in lower gears, and didn't dig hard with my muscles. I'm planning on doing a 22 mile ride tomorrow and wanted to conserve some energy. I've planned out my rides the rest of the month and I'll hit 375 miles for the month if it all plays out. That will be by far the most miles I've done in a month since starting. I won't continue at that pace but it's nice to set some goals at times to help with pushing yourself and motivation. I'm on a bike forum and my initial May challenge goal was 250 miles with a stretch goal of 300. Then it morphed into 300 and 350 stretch. Now it's 375. I probably won't do a June challenge and focus on some shorter high intensity rides with some longer ones on weekends.
