BugDude is back, and has a plan

Thanks cate. The funny part is if I really got serious and started playing more, practicing, and working on my game I could bet money on adding about 6 strokes to that score. Yes, the more I try the worse I get thing. I've kinda found my sweet spot with golf regarding input of effort and output of result. The delicate cost/benefit analysis of the point of diminishing returns on practice and amount of play. In other words, not really caring and putting forth much effort I have low expectations and seem to play better. The more I practice and play it seems I have higher expectations on the results. I also got to a point with back, hip, knees, elbow, and feet that the more I practiced and played it caused physical problems. Banging balls on the range took it's toll. I was playing my best when I only hit about 15 balls on the range and was playing more often but less holes (3-6 holes 5 or 6 days a week and 18 holes 1 day per week). More frequency, less volume. Now it's much less frequency and much less volume. I'll play more over the summer though. I'll keep you posted on whether more play helps or hurts my scores.

I shot a 1 over par 73. I had 5 birdies and 6 bogies. I 3-putted twice on the front nine, but chipped in a birdie on another hole. That kind of stuff evens out over the course of a round. I also came within 6 inches of a hole-in-one on the same hole that I aced in September 2013. Tap in birdie. My bogies were from getting out of position by missing approach shots in the wrong place (above the hole, short-side of the green, etc.). If I had played smart I could have been several under par. But the wind was blowing quite a bit so distance control was difficult on approach shots.

Haha, no idea what you were saying.

That's awesome. I would agree with the doctor that most people are focused on the scale (raises hand), but the scale is just a number, how we look and feel is the important part!

5/4....10.14 miles....45 min....13.5 mph....1232 calories

Today is STAR WARS DAY!!! May the 4th be with you!!! And averaging 13.5 mph, the force was strong with me this morning. No wind helped too.

5/5....10.14 miles....44 min....13.9 mph....1253 calories

13.9 is the fastest I've done my regular 10 mile route. I'm surprised after riding 4 days in a row. That's 52 miles in the last 4 days. I'm definitely feeling stronger and faster with better endurance.

5/6....22.14 miles....1 hr 40 min....13.3 mph....2668 calories

Long ride on a weekday!!! :coolgleamA: And I haven't even had a rest day since my last 22 miler. And I still averaged over 13 mph. That's 74.5 miles in the last 5 days. I can most definitely see a change in my stamina, endurance, and biking abilities as of late. The weight loss has stalled out even though I'm still sticking to my diet plan. Oh well, I'm seeing results elsewhere...and my clothes seem to be fitting looser.

So many pages!! So many miles and miles and miles. Inspiration X 1,000,000. Thank you!!!

Thanks kap!!! It motivates me to know it's helping someone. My somewhat OCD tendencies lend themself to pounding out mile after repetitive mile. After I get going I find a good peddling and breathing rhythm and can get in a zone or state of staring 8 feet in front of the bike and just grind out mindless numb miles.

5/7....8.82 miles....38 min....13.9 mph....1091 calories

Felt really spent yesterday afternoon and last night. Didn't ride this morning but went for a shorter ride this evening. Need to rest a little so I have gas in the tank for weekend rides. I'll probably do a slower ride tomorrow.

I've now surpassed 700 miles on the bike.

I played golf after work this evening too. Shot an even par 72. Given the course rating and slope, that's about like shooting a 75 on most courses.

In the last 7 days I've ridden 100.5 miles. 7.55 hours on the bike this week, 12119 calories burned for the week.

I split my ride today into 10 miles this morning and 7 miles this evening. I'm on a bike forum and have accepted the 300 miles in May challenge. Well on my way to that goal!!!

I snuck on the scales this morning...293. Down 33 lbs.

Pushed a few more miles on my long ride and felt good. I hope to get another long ride in this week and push my daily rides another mile or two.

Over 700 miles since February and closing in on 1k miles, and you've done it in such a short amount of time. Awe-inspiring really. Your weight has dropped significantly. You're great proof that hard work does pay off. It's great to see that not long ago you were doing 4-5 miles, then it doubled to 9-10, now it appears from the last few days you've bumped it up even more. Excellent job, man. The rest day was more than well deserved. Can't weight to see what the next 4-5 months brings you (50 mile day perhaps?). Cheers, BugDude!

Thanks dude, I really appreciate your sentiments. It has truly surpassed my expectations. I never dreamed I could accomplish what I have in such a short time. It fuels me to do more. I hope to bust the 1K mark by the end of this month.

Biking has changed my life completely. Physically and mentally.
