BugDude is back, and has a plan

It's whatever works for each person. I used to be an end goal person and lost weight successfully that way but didn't maintain it. This approach works for me now because I view it as having no end. I'm not on any particular schedule. I focus on what I can do and impact right now and the rest will take care of itself in its own time. The mind is a funny thing.

4/23....10.13 miles....46 minutes....13.2 mph....1216 calories

Today was 4 days in a row of 10 milers at or over 13 mph. I usually take a rest day after 3 in a row but felt good this morning. Will try another day if it's not raining in the morning.

Early meeting this morning but still got in a full ride. This is 5 days in a row and still averaged over 13 mph. I'm going to push for 7 days in a row at 10 per day.

An amazing workout.

We had a huge employee party for work last night and I blew out my calories mainly on alcohol. As best I can estimate I had 2500 calories yesterday (been doing 1500 per day) which still isn't too bad. About once every other week I intentionally have a day between 2000 - 2500 when I do a long ride so its not out of the norm. No long ride today (actually didn't ride this morning due to a slight hangover) but might ride later. Looking back at my tracker I've ridden 81 miles the last 7 days...I needed a few drinks!!!

Hahaha I envy ppl who can have that many drinks cos I'm allergic to alcohol. U definitely deserve a few after goin thru 81! I hope to reach the level where I can workout at least 6 days a week. 7 days is hmm is challenging for newbie like me. You are doing well!
Enjoy yr weekend!

I rarely drink anymore, but on occasion you have to remind yourself why it is you don't. Now to get my head back in the game and forge ahead.

4/25 Rest Day

No biking with a hangover for me. Going to jump back on it this morning. Did some family stuff and some yard work, so not like I sat around. Stuck to my calories too.

A stiff wind today and it seemed like it was in my face the whole ride. I didn't go that far or that fast but I feel like I had one heck of a workout. It's getting hot and muggy with high humidity so sweating like crazy (well, more than usual). When I got home it looked like I stepped out of a swimming pool. So no long ride this weekend, which is ok after the killer one last weekend and no breaks during the week last week.

I don't typically say much about my diet, but I've noticed that I'm really enjoying eating good healthy food. Things like cantaloupe, blueberries, dried cranberries, salmon burgers, tons of baked and grilled fish, oatmeal, squash, zucchini, asparagus, cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, tomatoes, guacamole, cottage cheese, etc.

It's like I have re-discovered the joy of eating really good food. I now find that when I eat something bad, it makes me feel sick. That should tell me a whole lot right there about the importance of quality food.

I didn't think you would go biking with a hangover BugDude. You seem to have a lot more common sense than that! I totally agree with your last post. It's great to really appreciate the importance of good food. I really do believe in the saying "we are what we eat." If I eat rubbish food, I feel like rubbish.

I played golf today cate in that fierce wind. Seemed like it was blowing in my face in every direction I was going. I ended up shooting a 76 (+4) and missed 2 short putts or would have been better.

That's fantastic BugDude! I'm in awe. I don't think I will ever tell you what I play off or my score.....ever.........+4? in fierce wind? WOWSERS!

Guess what my OCD focus was for 20 years??? Yep. I used to play 4-5 times per week and practice just as much. I was hitting golf balls daily for nearly 20 years. Now, I play about once every 2 weeks and NEVER practice. I don't play as good as I did when I was in it constantly, but I'm very happy with my scores considering I don't really put much time into it anymore. I kind of lost the passion for golf 6-7 years ago. Too many other competing interests these days. I keep thinking one of these days I'll get serious about it again, but then again now that I don't really care as much I seem to do better in some ways. Oh well, more time for old cars, biking, and playing guitar.

THe wind being in your face the whole time is exactly how I felt on my bike ride! It was horrible! Good job pushing through it!

Got up late so had to cut it short. Legs were tired too.
