Alligatorob's Diary

Yesterday was a bit mixed. In the end my calories were a little higher, but ok. Problem is I ate some ground beef after I had planned to stop eating. Not exactly a binge, but not comfortable. I did go back to the gym for almost 3 hours, and it felt good.
Not a problem as long as you don't eat them, right?
LOL, I suppose I used the wrong words. Rattlesnakes are venomous, but the flesh is edible, not poison... The bite can but usually doesn't kill. However, it can do a lot of damage, you get real sick and can lose tissue near the bite. Not something you want.
It's not much of a strategy. I am just gardening for about 3 hours a day and between the workout and sweating up a storm, I am firming up. The scale is packed away while remodeling is happening, but if I it turns out that I am not losing slowly, I'll go back to calorie counting and IF. My pants are getting looser
Looser pants is a really good sign that it's work! Swimming and paddling sounds great!
That's cool you were a snake collector as a kid.
For a few years I was pretty serious about it, there was a large commercial zoo near our house, really an importer and seller of animals that specialized in snakes. Sold a lot to them, frogs and toads too. Caught hundreds. However I usually avoided the venomous ones.
You don't look like you have any excess fat on you
Thanks Cate, but I do, clothes keep it relatively hidden, LOL!

There are far worse things to overeat on than ground beef, but I understand that it would make you nervous.
Aren't most rattlesnake bite cases young adult male humans with bites far higher up than they would be if they'd just walked past?

There's a serpentarium on one of the islands around here, and K really wants to go. Hope my snake dreams don't return if I go in with her.

I agree about the meat. Protein tends to curb my appetite and keep me from overdoing it.

I have snake dreams somewhat regularly but they aren't scary. Except maybe for the one where Dita von Teese's snake print dress turned out to actually be part her body because she was the Mother of all Snakes. She started giving birth to dozens of snakes at a time so the ground was just covered in them.

Super cool dream!

Today was a good day, exercised, ate well, and feel good tonight. However I am quite tired. Getting back to the gym and then doing work around the house the rest of the day is catching up. Think I will sleep in tomorrow and no gym.

Had not heard that. The only 2 people I know who had been bitten by a rattlesnake were men. One fell onto the snake and got bitten in the arm. The other was Ross Allen, a kind of Steve Irwin of rattlesnakes. He got bit on the hand while handling one. He lived near us when I was a kid and we met a couple of times.

You should go, it would be interesting... Maybe you'll want to start your own.

Hope you have a nice restful day, Rob. I have snakes in my yard - one slithered up near where I was watering, and I didn't feel terrified, so maybe there is hope for me!

Today was a good day, but I sure felt tired. Got a lot of work done though. My calories were fine, but I ate a whole lot of fruit carbs. I need to go to the store and stock up on some better food, probably will tomorrow morning. Feeling fine tonight.
I was a bit off, but not that much.
Thanks Llama, that is an interesting article. So most rattlesnake bites in Arizona seem to be drunk men trying to charm them, or something, LOL. Below is a good video of snake handlers...

Snakes are good, most are harmless to humans, but they eat things like rats and insects. We even have a few in the yard here. As close as you are to the water do you ever get water moccasins? It sounds like you are in a place that might. They are venomous, but not very aggressive, bites are rare.

Snakes...

Snake handling based upon a single line in a millennia-old book is such a weird thing to do. You'll not they never show off the other skill they should have: drinking poison. Even though that wouldn't stress out innocent animals or give them a bad name whenever one of these idiots does get bitten.

Unless you have specific fitness goal activity around the house is just as active as the gym. Good to hear you're doing well. It's funny to see how different your nutrition report is from mine: I pretty consistently get around 40% of my calories from carbs and fat and only just under 20% from protein.

All this talk of snakes and other critters! They're scarce where I am (uk), we only have 1 venomous snake, the Adder, and it's not really poisonous, they don't kill. In fact we have no deadly critters here afaik. Even the weather is very middle of the road, it rains and is cloudy alot. Summer temps typically top out early 20's C, winters aren't very cold.

I'm back, and binged a couple of times while away. Not posting when I binge is not a good thing...

Today was ok, low calorie and I worked on a project in my shed most of the day, exhausted tonight but I feel fine.

I have been going to the gym, even on binge days, but maybe a little less. Only one 3 hour day last week. And I have decided to take weekend off, too much yard work and the like. Some days I get a lot of my calories from protein. Right now I am eating a lot of fish, trying to empty the freezer before my next fishing trip, in about 10 days. I boil the fish and add no oil, most of the fish I eat is low fat so its mostly just protein.
Do you just eat applesauce on its own?
Yes, I have been working on getting the applesauce, pear sauce, and peach sauce we canned last year eaten before this season. It is pure carbs, but we add no sugar and don't cook it down too much. So calories are not terrible.

I have been to the UK a couple of times, your weather always seemed cool and rainy. I really liked the green it created. Not having many deadly critters is probably good, though ours are more interesting than dangerous. Unless you decide to join one of the snake handling churches anyway.
Your diet looks delicious and varied Rob!
Thanks, but it doesn't always feel varied. Today I had a fish and tomato sauce thing for both lunch and dinner. The fish I caught and am trying to finish off, as I told Llama. The tomato sauce is also homemade and I am trying to get it all eaten before this year's tomato crop starts.
What's going on, Rob? Are you ok?
Took a binge break, for lack of a better word. Today was good though, so right now I am ok. I hate this binge thing, I know it had nothing to do with hunger, almost never does...

Hi, Rob. Maybe now is a good time to see a nutritionist & get a tailored balanced “diet” to help with binge cravings. I know you did see someone before but her “diet” sounded a bit whacky.

More than a BIT whacky. She sounded like someone trying to get rich off other people's desperation. I think someone who specializes in bingers would probably be more helpful than someone who specializes in nutrition, but the combination would of course be ideal. I wouldn't be surprised if you derailed because you decided you were basically at your goal weight again. You're clearly excellent at restriction, but maintenance is another ballgame.
