Hey MO2! I think putting the jalapeno in my chili aided in my weight loss. I believe I read somewhere that spicy food is not only good for you, but it speeds up the metabolism. I'm going to make some chili soon. This time, I'll cook the beans long enough. lol Last time, my chili beans were a little on the firmer than softer side, but still good. Mmm, you've got homeade turkey soup made with love? Yumm!
So you said no cornbread but Quakes. What are Quakes? Is that oatmeal?
As for the ice cream comment and maintenance. I've been pondering the same ideas. Will I always have to deprive myself of life's little tastey sins here and there? You know, after doing this mathmatical approach and tracking my calories consumed and expended, I believe that you can eat that ice cream and not gain weight, only if you exercise those extra calories off. You mentioned not being able to get much exercise, so you'd probably have to skip a meal to have ice cream to keep it from sticking. On the other hand, when you do work out, if you do a lot of strength training, your new muscle will rev of your metabolism and burn more calories allowing you to consume extra. So perhaps you can pump more iron on the days you do get to work out, so you can have your ice cream and eat it too occassionaly?
