I know that heart-stopping feeling...but, nope...you did not gain 4.5 pounds....it's temporary. But it does mess with your mind in ways that are not fun! (been there, done that...)

BTW, :) good morning!

Hi M2M

First let me say congratulations on all of your amazing progress..it is really inspiring. Second, don't even worry about those pounds right now. If and when I have a large meal, I will not look at the scale for a few days because I know that whatever turns up is not indicative of my true weight. It's all about absorption and balance and after any meal it is thrown off. So no stresses and I'll bet you will definitely be seeing that ticker move this month :D

I'm not gonna repeat all the points that have already been made. I'm just gonna cast my vote of no, you did not actually gain 4.5 lbs and leave it at that. The possible reasons have already been thoroughly explained. :)

OK - I'll just ignore the scales for now ;)

So I got my walk and exercises in.
4.81 miles 53.03 minutes 11.02 minutes per mile (no jogging)

Squats
5 sets x 5 reps @ 40#
Overhead Presses
4 sets x 5 reps @ 40#
1 set x 4 reps @ 40#
Push Press
5 sets x 5 reps @ 40#
Crunches
5 sets x 10 reps

Wow Deb, how many times do you walk a day?

Not sure if you read about my pedometer thing in my diary, how i got the avon one, because i forgot to take it off my list. I have heard negative things on that little pink sparkly ped.

Sooo, i went looking for the pedometer you had recommended. Sportline 360 right? Well i couldn't find it, so i got another one made by sportsline, it has a radio but doesnt show calories burned, and its a piece of crap! I took 20 steps , it showed 13. Blah. I cant find that pedometer anywhere. I should check on ebay.

Hope you had a great day:)

I'll post the pedometer info in your diary...
:)

And Hi Kelly, seems we were posting at the same time!

Thats amazing!! I blame my ability on not being able to walk more than about 3.5mph on my short legs. They really arent that short, but since i'm fat, they look kinda short lol, so I use that as my excuse. I could go a lot faster, but there is no way I could go that long at that speed! Way to go!

Hey, thanks for posting on my diary!

Now I read in someone else's post that you had mentioned that they should put their walking in this one challenge (the one to walk around the world). I was wondering if anyone could do that, because I walk almost everyday for part of my cardio and if anyone could do that I would gladly post it! If that's the case I'll have to figure out the mileage because part of my walking is done on my lunch break, therefore, no treadmill to keep track of the miles.

I would also like to say congrats on your exercising... boy oh boy do I hate squats! Keep up the good work :D

Hi Lisa,
I *definitely* did not start out going that fast - I did about 2 miles in 40 minutes ;) I started out just going further and further. Each week I added a mile. When I got to 5 miles a day, on my Sunday walk I would add a mile each week until I was going every 13 miles every Sunday. It was during that time that my speed significantly increased.

I'm no longer going really far regularly as since Bob's accident, I just haven't found the time so I'm generally between 4-6 a day.

You'll get faster - it just takes building up to it.

Howdy M2M,

You kick butt in thaty department and if I can find an intersting route I would like to push more for 5 miles instead of the 2-3 miles.Keep up the good work, tammy

wow! m2m. i had a physio test on sunday. I did 1 mile in 14 mintutes. it was pure agony! all of monday i hobbled coz, the pain in my thighs was killing me!

i'm sure it'll get better!

Thanks, I'll definately join in, I'll just have to get used to marking down how far I went.

I have a couple things that help me go fast when walking. One, when I'm on the treadmill I just refuse to go below a certain MPH because in my mind I KNOW I can do it, and so I can't just be lazy and go slower! So just knowing I can do something makes me not go below that. And secondly, when I go for a walk at work (on my lunch break) I take the maximum amount of time I can for a walk (which is 40 mins, the rest of the 20 mins I need to eat lunch) so I walk really fast for 20 mins, and then I know I HAVE to be just as fast on the way back so I can make it in time to eat lunch and not be late for work... that's definately a motivation!

I agree completely with you that it takes time to build up speed. I used to walk so slow everywhere, no matter what I was doing, and now I find myself walking much faster in general! I love it! Although, I tend to get irritated stuck behind someone going slow and I can't get around! :p

Whew! It's been busy in here! Hope you have a great day M2M. The scales were definitely lying to you by the way. I've taken to calling my scales the "lying b*tch" - I locked her in the closet and won't let her out till she talks nice :)

Morning Rachie!

I don't know about the lying scales - but the weight is still up - and yesterday I made sure to have 100oz water - and I had a low cal day.

I'm not sure what's going on...

The scale hasn't been thrown out the window yet - but I'm clearly thinking about it ;)
