Yeah, I really had no idea where to start with the weights - so I'll just add to it each week or so until I get up to whatever the proper weight should be ;)
 
M2M weightlifting? I like it! I really like lifting weights and it doesn't matter what size they are to begin with. Just as Sunnydee said, start low and go slow! Have fun :)
 
proper weights are what works for you... if it's too easy then it's not proper -don't rush to get to a high weight just because you think you should - do what works for you right now.. and don't drop them on your tootsies -that hurts :)
 
Hi M2M, I used Bob Greene's (Oprah's trainer) book The Total Body Makeover when I started using free weights. I use 5 pound weights for all my upper body work and probably will not go higher than that. His regime is available online for a pretty decent cost at: if you're interested.
He's got beginner, intermediate and advanced levels and before the computer results in your 12 week plan, it asks questions about height, weight, resting heart rate, previous activity level, etc. What I like about the online version as opposed to the book, is there's virtual reality pictures of people actually doing the weights, so if I don't understand how a particular exercise goes, I can clearly see someone doing it. Dumb-dumbs like me need pictures. Ha ha.

The problem with compound exercises is that it racks your *whole* body!

We took Meg bowling last night - her swim team met at a bowling alley with disco lights, etc. Her "boyfriend" was there and had brought all the money he had. He bought her a soda and nachos - they danced together.

It was hilarious to watch!

How old is your daughter? I cant believe she wasnt embarrassed to dance with her "boyfriend" in front of you. lol. I would have been embarrassed to dance with a boy in front of my mother.

She's 10.5 and he just turned 11.

They were so cute - they were waltzing, tango'ing. The fact that he spent all the money he had on their food...it was very cute!

And...very disconcerting ;)

No Jenn, it's not showing up on my end.

As for tickers, I was coming to say that mine won't be moving this month.

I've seen as low as 172 and as high as 179 this month - but i've been seeming to settle around 174-175.

I wonder just how much my high levels of sodium have to do with it ;)
I have such a hard time getting my calories & protein up there without bringing in 3400-4400mg of sodium! Yeesh!

Anyhoo - ticker isn't moving!
 
Hi M2M. I can relate to sore today. My calf muscles are sooo tight! Not my whole body though!! That would be a little too intense.

That's too cute about Megan's boyfriend. He must think a lot of her. :)

I can't wait to be 175 girl!!! I finally can actually see that # somewhere down the road......that plateau i was at for ever almost did me in.:mad: .....I think that if i getstuck now it won't be so bad cuz i finally broke into the 100's and i can deal with that!!!:D
