thanks kim, cannon, bethann & randy :)

It felt good walking today - got it in before the rain, and now the last half of the day was pretty but cold - weird weather we're having no doubt.

I went to the store today - got a lot of fresh foods. I've got the strawberries, grapes and grape tomatoes cleaned and in bowls. Cilantro and green onions chopped (so that I don't let them go bad during the week because I hadn't prepped them) and have tons of tomatoes, cukes, bells, yams, zucchinis a few potatoes, onions, bananas & apples - I better eat fresh this week or die trying ;)

I also picked up some fresh stuffed sole, and salmon encrusted with sundried tomatoes & pine nuts.

I gained two pounds this week - I generally gain two and lose two - but have in the past lost the two by Sunday - not so today. I'm tired of the yo yo'ing and not losing. I've been sitting at the 175 mark since March 01st. I started upping my calories in January and was able to still lose about 8 pounds but then came to a stand still about March. I've been having *on average* 1800 calories a day and the weight isn't budging. I wouldn't consider it a plateau - I consider this maintenance.

1800 calories along with all the exercising I do, should NOT be maintenance.

So, my goal for this week is to maintain my exercise schedule, eat fresh and drop my calories to 1400-1600.

I'll re-access next Sunday.

I applaud the menu buster, it has to work !!

I often wonder if the stressful period you recently endured changes things ?? I know I'm not on top of my 'A' game when stress prevails...

This may or may not apply to you, just thinking out loud where I create my own leaks, sometimes subconsciously even.

You might have a point Randy,
I tend to think of myself almost impervious to stress - but I have been melting down a bit lately.

I went to calculate my daily caloric totals from the week and realized I had 3 days where I didn't even enter my calories.

That just doesn't work for me.

It's time to kick these pounds and quit playing at it ;)

wow :] i learn something new everyday
who needs school? haha
so is the texture just like a potato but its sweet?
ive never eaten one x

it's heavenly :)

I take one sweet potato/yam/whatever it's called roast it in the oven for about an hour until it's fork tender, cut it into thirds, skin it and add a tsp of brown sugar and less then a teaspoon of butter - mush up with a spoon and we have it for dessert (my family is now officially weird).

haha that does sound weird..just because its potato i guess. i think people eat it like mashed potato here in england. but then not many people eat it. not many people eat that many veg it seems any more. england is becoming a fat country
i think we are second in europe for our percentage of obese women. COME ON GIRLIES.. what are you/we doing!
but hey im willing to be more adventurous with veggies and fruits. what other "weird" things are there for me to put on the shopping list :)

That sweet potato sounds yummy :) I like mash potato but dont have it very often. Enjoy all your lovelly fresh foods!

double check what you're eating also M2M, i noticed i weened a lot of the fibre out of my diet and relied on starches and breads to make up the calories.
Lets just say since i made sure i ate mostly veges (not just potatos) and fruit in massive amounts, the weight is now again falling off me :D

you're right maybe you should shock your system by eating less calories for a while. i noticed i lose more when i avoid starchy food like potatoes and bread. so eating more veggies will definitely change that :D
but i do understand your frustration.
Lena

Good Morning Everyone,

I definnitely hear you guys on eating more fruit vs bread stuffs - and that's the change I'm making this week :)

Steve, I have been increasing my calories since about mid January. I've been at 1800-2000 calories for quite awhile now and I keep bouncing up and down two pounds. The scales really haven't moved since 01 March and my measurements haven't changed since 19 March.

I don't think of this is a plateau - but it seems I've found my maintenance calories.

Two weeks -- that's a plateau for sissies, LOL. Come to me when you've been at the same place for 36 days.

No, I know how frustrating these can be, and my heart is with you. Like you say, these plateaus are useful for finding your true maintenance level.

Fruit is great! It's my lifesaver.

Tom - my weight hasn't budged for 6 weeks.

I don't think I'm at a plateau - I think I hit my maintenance level of calories.

Upping cals is not a break from dieting. When is the last time you took a BREAK?

I don't know steve - i'm *gaining* weight I'm up a total of 3 pounds this week - I feel like what I've been doing the past couple weeks has been a break ;)

Hell, I even had pizza.

I did not count calories while bob was in the hospital and for two weeks after near the end of February. Does that count as a break?
