Cate's Diary

Hi, TM. The women I play with don't take their golf seriously. It's more the gossip afterwards about the club that gets me down. I probably also have the Winter blues.
I know, LaMa. It's a bad age to be let down by your friends!

I pushed myself out the door yesterday & went for a walk in the bush. It was hard going- wet & my boots were slippery. There was a tree down on our bush track & lots of branches. It's 1 km to the back of our block & then another back but it is very steep. Any walk from up here is uphill on the return.
I hate this feeling I have at the moment of being out of sorts & grumpy. I get really touchy when I'm feeling like this. It has been raining all night. I suggested last night to G that we go watch the finals of the state 8-ball tryouts today & he jumped at the idea. Now, of course, I'm in hibernating mode again. My plan had involved me going for a big walk around town while he watched the pool. Oh well. It looks like we're going. Me & my big mouth! Hopefully, the rain will clear. I had better get on the move....

Hey, Cate! Are you still there? I was just beginning to reply here when I saw you'd posted! Here's as far as I'd got...
I'm late in reading and replying, but first off - good for you for biting the bullet about surgery for your feet. Thing certainly take longer to heal as you get older (which would mean a possible fall would be worse as well :( ) - and since you're enjoying the walks so much something giving you pain when walking is right out!
But the other pain, of seeing your son unhappy and unsettled - that's a really tough one. And your granddaughter's unhappiness, too, which let's hope is of a much more transient kind....

I won't finish that post - I'll just say quickly that I'm thinking of you, and wishing you well today - and may that rain clear!

Maybe you can put on a fire when you get home and do some youtube exercises next to the fire instead? I have trouble getting out here in rainy season, and it doesn't even freeze hard here. Hugs, and hope you can enjoy the finals and just make up for the exercise later!!

Really happy you found a great form of exercise/meditation! You've seemed a little off balance and I bet this will put things right!!

Thanks, Marsia. I think I have found my meditation as it makes me feel so much better. I had decided not to go for a walk today as it's windy & showery again, but I have the urge to get out so will after lunch! It's kicking in as a new habit again. Yay!
I have been doing some housework this morning. I lost the internet connection earlier. It's very cloudy & wild looking out there.

So fantastic you found your groove again!!:party::party:!!

That's funny you went for a walk on hill street and maybe overdid the hills. We were taking a short hike the other day and saw Rattlesnake trail, and it had a vista point, so I was sorely tempted to take it, but in my experience, if there is a snake named place, I will go and find snakes, so steered clear!

That´s when you know you´re doing the right thing for your body. Great job!
Thanks, LaMa. My body & mind are loving it.

Hill St is very well named. The walk included the equivalent of 34 floors. Some of the slopes are incredibly steep, but the driveway up to our house is the steepest.
I would stay well clear of Rattlesnake trail too.

My appointment with the dietician has been cancelled as she is only going to be doing Wednesdays at the local medical centre now, which clashes with my golf. I really know that my "diet" couldn't be much healthier anyway so I won't worry. I'll think about another allied health professional, maybe podiatrist again.

It's raining again. Just after lunch seems to be when it clears so I'll wait until then for my walk. I did 7 days straight of over 2km walking outside, so I might just start calling it a streak.

7-day walking streak :D

YAYAYAY 7 day streak!!! That's great you have a built in way to burn calories fast with your hill! I hope the rain cleared up so you could make it an 8 day streak!!
