Cate's Diary

Way to go, Cate! 11 days is great. It seems the momentum from the previous 10 days carried you through? It's a win even though it may not have felt like it.
Thanks, Rob. I am fairly stubborn & just didn't want to break that streak. I could happily go to sleep now though!
The power of the streak! Going outside probably helped air out your lungs after the dust, too.
Indeed, LaMa. The streak is a powerful thing. My lungs probably did thank me. I was struggling before the housework after a day in the "city" yesterday.
I may just have a nap soon I think. We're getting the kids off the bus today & they'll arrive in about an hour. D didn't ask, but we'll feed them. He's picking them up after work.

Well done Cate. Are you enjoying the regular exercise? I note you mentioned it’s a challenge to yourself. That’s great. It feels good to push yourself and win.

Wow, you are so dedicated! It's great you got outside and kept the routine going! I hate when my immune system is struggling and then I breathe in dust - so good you got the fresh air! Hope you have a happy time with the kids!

 Naps are awesome, enjoy!
They are. I think I got about a 5-minute nap in & that was enough to get me through until about 10 pm when I dozed for hours & hours, saw about 1 hour of le tour all up & went to bed at about 1 am, sleeping until 8! I really needed that sleep.

Thanks, TM. I am enjoying it, even when I'm not :D Pushing myself and just doing it regardless is being very good for my self-esteem. I didn't like feeling like a sloth. Every night my feet hurt, but every morning they don't.

I'm more stubborn than dedicated, Marsia, but thank you for the compliment. We had a lovely time with the kids.

Each morning I wake up & think about how far I will walk today. It helps that my feet are not hurting when I wake. I may take a hiking stick with me today & head up a different way. The stick is for dogs.

It was a crazy, crazy tour day! Well, what I saw of it! G kept trying to wake me up to show me stuff & I kept falling straight back to sleep.
Thanks, LaMa. The compulsory 2 km minimum walk outside is helping me to overcome my Winter blues. Spring is in the air already here. The bulbs are coming out & birds are appearing everywhere. YAY!

Stayed up late again to watch Le Tour, but this time stayed awake for most of it. We slept in this morning. It's a cool, but sunny morning here today. I'll go for my walk before lunch today. We might go cut up the rest of that wood today. Included in my walk yesterday was loading up the wood from a tree that had come down over my walking track. There's still a lot to do. I want to get the track cleared properly before the fire season so we could have an alternate exit & am going to get a quote to get a dozer in. I'll ring him when we get this tree cut up. It's good exercise. G drove the ute down to it yesterday & I walked. It's rough walking but feels good walking in your own bush. I hear & see lots of birds & hear lots of wallabies.

Sounds like a good day walking through your property and cutting up firewood. I feel so satisfied after trimming our trees and cutting them up for kindling and logs. Glad you got to enjoy your lovely land!!

Thanks, Marsia. Bushwalking around your own land is very special. I tackled the top boundary of our dense bush today & won't be doing that again I'm afraid. It's just too steep, too rough & too overgrown. I had a fall going through tall ferns where I couldn't see the ground & just found a leech on my pants. It didn't get to my skin/blood thank goodness & I'm hoping he's the only one!
This walking is doing wonders for my mood.
Day 13 of my walking streak.
Yay for being stubborn & determined!

Ugh, a leech!!!! I hope you aren't too sore from the fall. I notice that when I fall now it really impacts my body for a few days. I hope you can have a nice hot bath or something for your muscles! When I go off trail here, there are a lot of deer ticks which may carry Lyme disease. I am always picking them off me and the cats, usually before they bite.

So glad to hear your mood is lifting and that you are getting so much wonderful exercise and nature!!! I love the feeling of walking around the property and really appreciating it! The bush sounds magical there!!
