WilliamsB02's Diary

Just an FYI - my latest nutritional kick has been to avoid High Fructose Corn Syrup - and everything that contains it... breadwise -- it's a little tough going but it's do-able-- you just get to read a lot of labels.. Last time i looked, that bread does have HCFS as one of the essential ingredients in it... So, in the short term, it won't kill you - but it might want to be something that you watch for...

has a pretty good list of all the products that contain it, but their bread list is missing a ton...

Just my 2 cents - otherwise you are doing great...

How are you liking that Perfect Food stuff?

Do you know of any breads without HFCS? I just went and looked at the latest bread I bought which is wonder stoneground 100% whole grain and it has it too. I'll finish it, but what is a better alternative?

The Perfect food is great in my opinion, I've been taking that for well over a year now. I only take it every other day though. I just make what I call a green food smoothie. It doesn't taste the best, but the way I drink it, it's not much to drink so I handle it.

Thanks mal for the info on HFCS, please post what you use as an alternative if you have one. I'd really like to try something without it.

Bonnie

the bread i got lately is from a local bakery -the vermont bread company.. (but it's still packaged like regular bread - not from the bakery section) and it's really good - I spent about 20 minutes in the bread aisle - reading every label- it was frustrating - but local bakers you should fair better with...

Doing some googling while i was on a conference call, Pepperidge Farm 15 Grain supposedly doesn't have HFCS, but it's still worth reading the labels

Reading more on HFCS- long term use of it causes major liver damage... so it's really something to avoid.

O.k. ladies and gents,

I've been dreading coming in here today to report my loss in the fight with the snack fairy. She defeated me, I mean it was a TKO......

Dinner was a disaster. I went out with a good friend to Greektown and initially I went with her to get take out, but when we got there most the people were sitting outside eating and enjoying the decent weather and the night life so we decided to just eat there and be free and merry like the rest of the folks....:)

I had a gyro plate (which was huge) and I had a regular Barq's root beer soda. I felt so depressed by the time I got home (we went for a walk on the beachwalk afterwards and sat on the rocks and just looked out at the water and talked). I have got to learn some self control, I just can't believe it. I feel like I have undone the last three weeks of my new lifestyle :( . I'm disappointed in me, but I'm still ready to start again this morning. I want this to be IT, the time that I really do it.

Well, I got home last night and sobbed for a good while and then posted in Kallie's Diary. I also bought a stability ball on ebay last night, got it for 16 bucks, a 75cm even though I'm only 5'8" and they say a 75cm is for someone 6'1" and over. I read an article saying it just depends on what is more comfortable for you. I already have a 65cm, It feels way low, so I don't use it.

Anyhow guys,

My confession is done and I'm off to start the day right with breakfast. I'll be back to post it when I'm done.

Bonnie

OK. so you had a slip up... you're back on the horse today.. no guilt... as I've said elsewhere (i really need to come up with new sayings or soemthing) guilt burns no calories and it's not aerobically effective so pass on it..

Learn from your mistake.. and keep going...

Just ask yourself what you would do differently next time...

Have yourself a fantastic day!!

I'd probably not go, but I can't ban myself from establishments because I'll eat their food. I've got to learn to either make better decisions while out or pass on it in totality. I guess I just got caught up in the moment last night and although I'm regretful for that, I think (no, I know) today will be better for me.

Mal, you rock!!! :D

Hey there, just wanted ot stop in and say a hello! Sounds like you are doing great, and best wishes to you throughout the course of your lifestyle change. I'll be checking back in on you to see how you're coming along! Happy losing!

OH Bonnie,

Don't feel bad or guilty!!!!!!!! One time in 3 weeks isn't unreasonable. We live ina world where people go out to a nice place to eat once in a while. You just need to make better choices about what to have and how much for a next time. Don't let one bad day get you down and then let that snowball. NO GUILT like Mal said. *HUGS*

Also, you started today off good! I hope the rest of the day goes good too.

Thanks for that Kallie. I guess I'm over it now and starting this as a new day. Like you said, if I do go out to eat again, I'll just make a better menu choice. I just lost my head last night, but I got it back and with the support here on the boards how could I not continue.

BTW, I just posted in your diary wondering why you hadn't made an appearance, but low and behold here you are....:D

Was out and didn't have any. Actually I was in the grocery store about that time and didn't want to touch anything I didn't have to.

Dinner:

Going out with a girlfriend tonight for dinner so I will report back in the morning. I'm going to be sensible and not have another greektown incident. I've looked at maggiano's menu online just to get an idea of what I'm going to order. I've been there before, but never looked at the menu from the perspective I'm going to be looking at it from tonight. Wish me luck!!!

good job - hope you are feeling better... :)

Feeling much better. I believe my water was way too cold and I drank it way too fast, It just hit what felt like the bottom of my stomach and gave me the worst belly ache I've ever had. I took it real slow this morning.....

Just have to say how good it feels to be back on track.....:D

Bonnie

Excellent thing to do... that way you know what's in your healthy range, and you don't have to open the menu and get tempted by all the stuff you want to avoid... :)

Hi Bonnie,

Restaurants are so hard for me too. One thing is you have no idea what is in that stuff so how do you figure the calories anyway? I have been trying to eat 1/2 or a 1/3 of what they give me and bring the rest home for other meals. Better than eating the whole thing.

I would not stress over one bad day. I was looking back through your diary and your commitment to eating healthy is outstanding. I really admire you.

If you can find a time that you gym is less busy you might feel more comfortable to start out. Have a great weekend. You're doing great!

Morning Guys,

The restuarant experience was good. For appetizers, what was ordered was....

Bombalina Platter
An assortment of our favorite Appetizers, including Stuffed Mushrooms, Crispy Zucchini, Bruschetta, and Spinach Artichoke Al Alforno

I had one stuffed mushroom and the crispy zucchini

Spinach, Lemon, and Garlic
Spinach sautéed with garlic and olive oil, served with lemon.

Had about 1/3 portion, brought the rest home.

Whole Roast Chicken, Rosemary Garlic
A whole roast chicken marinated in fresh herbs, roasted and cut into pieces. Served in a light chicken sauce.

Had about 1/3 portion, brought the rest home.

I did very well I think. I'm happy with my performance.

Was supposed to be walking this morning with a friend, but that didn't happen. I have my niece and cousin over this morning which are 7 and 8. I got up this morning and put a pot roast meal in the slow cooker so atleast I don't have to worry about putting much prep into their dinner. They are a handful, but I can't wait to have some of my own....:D

As for breakfast this morning.......

Breakfast
1oz organic apple juice 15cal
2oz original soymilk (Didn't really use the whole 2oz) 32.5cal
1 cup of plain cheerios 110cal
24oz of water
Adult chewable multivitamin 10cal

total cals: 167.5

See you guys for Lunch,
Bonnie

Good Morning Bonnie :)

I just read through your journal, and you are doing an amazing job! You are taking control and that is such a huge step towards reaching your goal!!

You WILL get there with your commitment!

An occasional splurge day is not a problem - you can't undo 3 weeks with one meal.

Checking the menu out before going to a restaraunt is so helpful in planning ahead for what you're going to get - it has helped me tremendously!

Keep up the awesome work!!
