WilliamsB02's Diary

Good morning Bonnie,

You did WICKED AWESOME at the restaurant!!!!!!!!! *Standing Ovation*
I know I'm not ready for that step yet, so I'm super proud of you!

I bet your cousins will have you busy all day! I love kids.

Anyways, Keep up the good job and I hope you have a great day!

you should be so proud of yourself young lady... you did very very well... Smart choices made, and sounds like extremely tasty choices as well - so doesn't sound like much deprivation either... and no one has to know you are even changing your lifestyle... they'll know shortly when you keep dropping more weight but I have always hated saying i was on a diet because it's like people just wait for you to fail... (maybe ijust know the wrong people :(

Hope you are having a fabulous day and your wonderful evening is carrying over into today :)

Heya!

Have just read through your diary and I need to say something.. Your calorie intake is very low and your metabolism is not the only thing to be affected in the future. You have to be careful for extremely low calorie diets can't last for long and whatever you missed eating while on it will be needed by your body later on, which will only result in rapid weight gain back.

Saying that, you've also made great choices in many little big things. Good planning :)

I'm not doing the low calorie thing on purpose, I have to find some other alternatives I see. It's a process I tell you. I want to be in the 1200-1500 range, but it's very hard to get there when you eat what I eat. I was vegetarian for 4 years and have just now, back in March, gone back into the world of meat. I gained the most weight being vegetarian with all the pasta's and other stuff I was eating. Soy Delicious Ice cream has way more calories in one serving than one serving of breyers and that example is just one of the many things that has way more calories than "normal" stuff. I have no desire to go back to the heavy meats, the only thing I want to have is tuna and the occasional chicken dish.

I guess for the upcoming week exercise and bulking up on my cals will be two personal goals I'll work on.

Thanks much,
Bonnie

Nope Mal,

I think people like this are all over the globe. Of course not everybody is like this, but a good few are so I know just what you mean and this is precisely why I have chosen to keep this my little secret until whenever I decide to share it.

Thanks Kallie, I'm proud of me too.....:D I had my doubts, I'm telling you the truth. I looked at the menu before going and just did my best to stick to my plan. It worked out, the appetizers were the only part I didn't anticipate, but even that turned out o.k. I think tomorrow when the kids are gone and I finally have part of that pamper day I've been getting around to (let's say) for what feels like weeks, but really only one I'm going to take some before pictures. Now although I'll take them every month, I was thinking maybe posting them at my 3 month mark. I guess we'll see. Anywho, hope all is going well with you this morning. Will check in on ya a bit later.

Good Morning Bonnie

I just read through your journal, and you are doing an amazing job! You are taking control and that is such a huge step towards reaching your goal!!

You WILL get there with your commitment!

An occasional splurge day is not a problem - you can't undo 3 weeks with one meal.

Checking the menu out before going to a restaraunt is so helpful in planning ahead for what you're going to get - it has helped me tremendously!

Keep up the awesome work!!

Thanks M2M, greatly appreciated and you're right commitment is what's needed to do this because it is extremely hard. The real test is when I go back to school for the fall. The temptations will be everywhere and much easier to say yes to, but I don't plan on giving this way of life up anytime soon....:)

Great Job at the Restaurant!

Actually, I have to give a special thanks to you for the portion control idea..:D I've had another 1/3 portion of both dishes for lunch and will finish up the last of it for dinner. That was awesome. In the past, I would have no portions left after dinner and now look at me getting 3 meals out of one. I love it!!! :p

Bonnie

Heya:D,

I am a vegetarian too and I know what you mean... The second I became one I started living on bread and cheese.. By the time I got my act together and studied nutrition and food groups probably I found myself being 25 kilos more than I always was.
This is my 7th main diet (not ever counting the failed attempts), but I am determined for it to be my last..

A great and very healthy way to up your calorie intake with good things is adding almonds on chopped fruit, (even a drizzle of honey if desired.. ), olive oil in your salad (at 800 cals per 100 gr.), avocado chopped in lettuce, avocado oil is delicious too. Healthy fats are excellent for you. :)

Half ignore the following by the way. I just found it and wanted to show it to you. I've been burned by low calorie diets.. I don't want anyone else to go through it.. I'm zipping it after this: :p

By WebMD:

Mistake No. 4: Not eating enough -- or often enough.

While overeating and undereating may seem like contradictory nutrition mistakes, they are related.

"If you don't eat at regular intervals throughout the day, you risk disrupting your blood sugar and insulin levels, which in the end can promote fat storage and lower your metabolism -- both of which lead to weight gain," Brandeis says.

The solution: Eat something every four hours and never let yourself "starve" from one meal to the next, Brandeis says.

Hey Bonnie,

Just checking in buddy. I hope your weekend was great!:D

It was, thanks. I did a crap job at writing stuff down, but I'm back at it today. Hope you had a good time out with your friend this weekend. I'll be over at your space (your diary) in a bit....:)

Breakfast

Breakfast
1oz organic apple juice 15cal
1/2 cup of organic oatmeal 150cal
1/4 cup of raw sliced almonds 170cal
1/4 cup of dried cranberries 100cal
Adult multivitamin 10cal
24oz of water

total cals: 445

Today is the day that I have to start some type exercise. I'm not going walking, there is a heat advisory out. I neglected to mention I have a club sized treadmill in a spare room that everybody now refers to as the weight room. The treadmill takes up most the space, but there is a stability ball in there (soon to be two once my 75cm arrives), some free weights, resistance bands, and my Trek (bicycle) that I spent over $300.00, but has only been out with it twice. I'm going to put my treadmill to use this evening. I'm going to attempt to do 45-60min. I was reading some articles this morning on fat loss and they say slow and long is the way to go for fat burning and fast and short for carbohydrates.

I'll also be working on my calorie bulking goal so we'll see how that comes along. The farmer's market is here on Wednesday so I'll go out and buy some fruit then, but in the meantime, I went to the local Jewel foods yesterday and bought some "starter" fruit. Apples (granny smith), bag of oranges, and some bananas. I should get some extra calories from grabbing one of those for a snack. Well, that's it for me guys....

See you all after my snack and lunch

Bonnie

going to attempt to do 45-60min.
That's a great attempt... but as I'm finding myself.. if you h aven't done it for a while.. you might want to start with a smaller goal that you know you can achieve, and then work your way up to longer... Any exercise that you get is good exercise...

Have fun... and yay for stocking up on fruit.. especially have fun at the farmer's market - the one at Daley Plaza used to be fantastic.. haven't beenin chicago in months... but I used to dream about the michigan blueberries :) There used to be another one in the park across from the Sears tower that was also outstanding :)

45-60min was a bit ambitious, but I was thinking since its going to be slow then maybe, just maybe....A girl can dream....

Realistically, I've never lasted over 20 minutes on the thing, but that was before I got my new found knowledge of slow and long cardio for fat burning so we will indeed see how I fare this evening.

BTW, has anyone found any info to dispute the slow and long cardio theory?
If so, please post.

Thanks,
Bonnie

20 minutes is an excellent start -- starting is the key... :) keep at it and you will be able to go 45 minutes...

I've found the treadmill to be a little... dull... Scarlett watches movies while she treads... and I think that's a fantastic idea...

Lunch

Bulking up the cals is turning out to be easier than I thought, but it also feels like I'm eating too much.....

Anyhow, here's what was for lunch..........

Snack:
1 medium granny smith apple 80cal

Lunch:
3 slices of sara lee heart healthy classic wheat 210cal (it was the last of it too)
3tbsp of extra crunchy Jif 285
1 1/2 tbsp of smuckers low sugar strawberry preserves 37.5cal
34oz of water

total cals for snack & lunch: 612.5.......

Is that too much for one sitting (excluding the snack)?

Bonnie

everything i've read says you should get the bulk of your calories in breakfast and lunch (thogh I'm not doign that because i'm just not hungry that early)

you're at about 1100 for the day Ithink, and you probably want to stick with between 1500 and 1800 for the day (or even slightly more - but i'd just stay under 2000) so i think you're in great shape (and that calorie guesstimate is based on a nonmedical opinion - just what i've been reading on)

you're doing great...

Hey Bonnie,

I'm glad you had a good weekend. Kids keep yah busy that's for sure!

Anyways, I think that you are doing fine today. It is important to get enough cals. So I basically agree with every Mal said!

Keep up the good work and thanks for stopping by my diary~:)
