Valapalooza's Diary

Hello,

I hope you feel better. 230 does not sound pathetic to me. It sounds like music to my ears. I have not been 230 in probably 10 or so years. I just can't wait to say I am no longer "morbidly obese" How is that for pathetic?

Oh, well...we got ourselves into this mess and we are going to get ourselves out of it!!! Have a good time at the Tastefest. The New Pornographers are playing there today, I think. I like them...they remind me of some 80's bands.

Val, Pineola, there is NOTHING even remotely pathetic about setting and reaching milestones. If we don't recognize where we are, how will we ever get where we want to be? Now NO MORE of that kind of talk from EITHER of you!

Val, I'm sorry you're sick :( Do you think it's allergies or a real cold? Take it very easy, and be sure you are getting enough calories. Your body needs fuel to fight off illness. Of course, it fights best on HEALTHY food!

I'm excited for you about the ticker update. I'm sure that one Dove bar won't have hurt you. You've been so good and gotten so much exercise. Can't wait to see your ticker go down!

Woo hoo- I busted through that plateau (probably with the help of being sick) and brought the ticker down from 248.6 to 242.6! I'm starting to think I was just having a bloated day when I weighed in last Monday. Anyway- I'm excited to be so close to getting out of the 240's... and I won't even call it pathetic. You have to admit though- and I think Pineola agrees with me on this one- it's pretty funny when you are using a BMI calculator and you just wish it would tell you that you're Overweight. I mean seriously... I still have to lose 40 pounds just to be "overweight" - not that I'm knocking it or anything, because I look pretty damn good at 200 pounds.

Have a good day all!

Way to go Val!! I knew that it must just have been retained water or something, because you have been working so hard and being so good. It often happens that way, you stay the same for a while and then it drops significantly all at once. I can't wait until you are in the 230's!! It won't be long now, maybe even next week ;)

I know the feeling exactly of wishing to just be "overweight". I went through that already, and now I'm just wishing to hit the highest "normal" number. That's how I set my goal (at least for now). I'm really judging by how I feel about myself as I get closer and closer, but I had to pick something to look forward to, and so I picked getting out of that "overweight" column - but barely! You can do it, I had the same battle (for nearly 8 years off & on) but I'm doing it, and so can you!

wow!! 6 pound weightloss!! GOOD FOR YOU!
and especially for lowing your way through ur plateau. it's a great feeling isn't it? :D

You guys are all so great! Thanks for your encouragement- It really helps!

A couple of my friends were over on Monday, and two of us were goofing around with this workout video while the other one worked out her mouth by making fun of us- lol. Anyway, I am super excited because my one gf wants to start working out together a couple of days a week after work and then again on the weekends. She has gained the freshman 15 or 20, so she has a lot less work to do than me- but I'll take the companionship! Today is day one... although I want to keep it low impact, I'm still pretty sick and breathing is a chore even without exercising. (I wonder how many calories you burn coughing and sneezing... lol)

This rest of this week is going to be a huge challenge. Tomorrow is my bf's birthday and he wants to have a Mexican fiesta and Boston Cream Pie. Ugh. Friday is my younger sisters 21st birthday and we're going out to some bar called Coyote Joe's- hopefully I'll keep busy dancing and won't throw back too many drinks. Saturday we're doing a bar crawl for my bf's birthday - and most of these bars don't have dancing so I'll have to hope something else will keep me from drinking 3000 calories in one night. Yikes!

well there's always chair dancing - and perhaps jumping on top of the bar and doing some dancing there? :D

One or two nights won't kill you .. just don't go crazy and pace yourself.. :) have club soda every other drink... or better still -- volunteer to be the designated driver :)

Hey there, just wanted to drop in and say hello, see how things are going with you! Workout companions are SO nice to have. I love having the other person there...it's really motivational for me to keep going.

While it's good to be cautious, make sure you have some fun this week! It sounds like a really fun week for you, so make sure you have a good time!

Hope the rest of your day goes well!

Hey Val, that is sooo great. Its nice to have someone to workout with. I keep trying to get my hubby involved, but alas, no luck yet.

Wow, you've got a busy few days coming up!! I think Mal's idea to be the designated driver is great. You could do it on one or two of the occasions, then have one night when you can let loose and have a few drinks.

Good luck, I know that you will do fine, and any indulgences can be evened out by being extra dedicated next week ;)

Hey, Val! Congrats on exercising with your friend! It's always more fun with others. Good luck with all of your birthdays this week. Whenever I go somewhere with alcohol, I just try to sip on a drink and make it last. That way my friends don't keep filling it up as often! :) Have fun!

Val, take it easy on the exercise until you feel better. Sounds like you are really sick.

I hope your friend sticks it out with you. My friends use to go to the gym with me, but one of them goes in the AM now and the other won't go in the summer so I'm a loner now. It is easier to go if someone is waiting for you.

Drinking is hard. I'm very disappointed in the calorie content of cocktails. Two Margaritas cost me 680 calories yesterday. It's not fair! You will do fine. Exercise a little more on the party days!
