Your braver than me mate that’s why im looking for roller skates ….no way would you find me on roller blades id kill myself lol.
 
I'm too chicken to try roller blading...I'm terrified I'm going to hit a tiny rock and go flying :eek: Good for you for trying something new!
 
Roller blades ARE scary. It was bad enough on the old fashion roller skates but to put them all in a line and make me balance myself---Eek!!
 
I was so shocked that I could stand up in them and I could even move but I was just a chicken shit, LOL...I managed to do a little but that was it...

Damn...at lesat give me points for my honesty...I went over my carbs today adn I dont know why...I didnt really eat that much...I am unsure how to determine my cheese...I have 4 sslices of it so I said it was 4 oz...anyway not gonna beat myself up over it...I could have gone with out the serving of m&ms but I measured it out and everything...

Wow Blading yikes I tried it a couple years ago and you use all your
muscles just trying to balance I felt like a complete drunk on skates
lol not a perrty site lol! To think I used to go to the skating rink as
a kid and skate backwards ect now I can barely stand lol!

WTG on the blading! Like Tammy, I tried a few years ago - and OMG, I thought I was gonna die! I can ice skate, but for the life of me, I can NOT use the brakes on inline skates - it just goes against all rationale to lift that foot up and brake with the heal!

You asked about timing walks - if you take the time you walk and divide the distance, you will get your time per mile. So for instance, it took me 59.46 minutes to walk 5 miles - I divide 59.46 by 5 and get 11.89 minutes per mile.

Ok but how do I know the miles, like how do I know how many miles I walked...Im gonna go to one of our local parks hopefully tomorrow if it isnt raining on the way home with my youngest...Hopefully it will tell me miles of the park adn then I can get an idea and time myself:D :D :D

Exercise mental note...Friday was none...Saturday was a hour long walk and 15 mins of Boot Camp...Sunday was hour long walk and 50 mins up Yoga...today so far 30 mins at Curves and going on a walk prob 45 to 60 mins...so quick total...60 +15+50+60+30...225 ??? I believe yes...my quick math...225 + 60=285...YES!!! LOL

There are a few ways you can get the distance -
1. Buy a pedometer (ranges in price from $8.00-$50.00 mine is Walking Advantage 360 by Sportline).
2. Clock the distance with your car's odometer
3. Go to enter in your adress then plot out where you are walking and you will get the distance.

Otherwise, if I don't know, I go by how fast I feel I'm walking and how long I walk. If I'm walking with friends, I figure 15minutes per mile, if I'm walking fairly fast, 13 minutes per mile and if I'm going at a my fastest before a run it's about 10-11 minutes per mile. When I started, I was walking 20 minutes per mile.

Howdy TLA! I use , another one of those, plug in the address and plot sites. That's the easiest way for me to figure out my distance. Also bought a pedometer, for me it's about 1500 steps in 1 mile. Figure it will come in handy around xmas shopping time. Good Luck!!
 
Just a note on pedometers - I'm not crazy about the kind that just count steps - it's too easy to count the steps at the grocery store, getting gas, walking the dog etc., and for me, I don't count those steps for two reasons, one, it's not "intentional exercise" and two, I might park in the furthest parking space at the grocery store, but I still don't get my heart rate up and keep it up for more then then 20 minutes when I'm shopping...

So that's my criteria, heart rate has to be up for a minimum of 20 minutes to be counted as exercise.

The pedometer I have measures distance in miles/kms, steps, steps per minute, miles per hour, it has it's own timer, calories etc. It was the best one I could get my hands on when I decided not to go with the Nike+ iPod Pedometer ;)
 
Kinda like my job it is physical and I do get my heart rate up but I dont count it as a work out...my work outs are above and beyond work...
