Some, my other car was supposed to be done yesterday. I didn't have a way to work. Total time it took to rebuild my transmission (6 MONTHS), seriously, a two week job? Seriously. So he told me a couple weeks ago that he was going to try and keep the price low, but it was still $1800. I had the money before, when I thought my car was going to be done. Had it up until 3 weeks ago when I had an emergency and had to use it, but he was supposed to discount it, because it was taking him so long. Long story short, he had already told someone else I knew that he messed up something and had to order and pay for the parts, so basically, he's not making much of a profit off my car, and doesn't want to come down. Claimed it was 1900 before, and he usually charges $2000. I have quality car, so I didn't want to buy a used transmission and get someone on the side to put it in, but now I'm thinking maybe I should have. So I got him to come off another hundred, but he wanted all the money when I pick up the car. I told him, I didn't have it all, and could I pay him most of it, then work on a payment plan with him. He said he would get screwed. Long story short, I let him know that I have been patient with him, I understood he wanted to be paid, but I also have been paying insurance for my vehicle for the last 6 months, driving another vehicle that just broke down, and didn't have any air conditioning with two children. I mentioned signing a promissary note with a lawyer, then all of a sudden, the tone changed. He said it would give it a thought, and call me back that afternoon. When he called back, he agreed. It's funny how when mentioning getting a lawyer involved got me what I asked for. I thought he was probably thinking about how bad it would look that it took him six months to fix my car, and then maybe it would go further into his pockets. I had thought about it before, but I desperately need my car and cannot have this put on hold any longer. I think maybe he's been down this road before, or something similar. If he didn't know how to fix my car, he should have left it alone and informed me, and I wouldn't be going through this right now. It is supposed to be a lifetime warranty on his business and rebuilding transmissions, so we'll see. Shady people man.
