This ongoing Rolloercoaster needs to stop!! No more free rides!!

Hi njoyabl,

I work shift work in a power plant and everyone usually leaves something in the fridge now and then (with hopes it will be there on there next shift).

I had a coworker who liked to rummage thru the fridge and pick at what others left.
One day he looks at a huge new brick of cheddar cheese (his favourite) and says..."Ohhhhh....my favourite..I wonder who left this in there?!!"

To which I immediately replied..."It doesn't matter who left it in there, all you need to know its not yours!"

I think I hit a nerve with him cause he repeated it and the sense that it made. He never touched anybodies food after that...but he did make a point of repeating my saying whenever he opened the fridge! lol

Something else I had to do to fend off the fridge theives....we have a full kitchen so we can cook pretty elaborate meals. Unfortunately, (the seagulls I call them) always used my butter that I brought in, and never replaced it. So...I would put a pound of butter in a old opaque container and label it with something gross sounding like "Turkey neck soup" or "giblets and rice".
Nobody even peeks inside when they see them labels.

Hope you have a better day tommorow!

Nice job on that five finger co-worker! I work in a prison, so it is open 24 hours, so it could be anyone. Love your labels! I will have to try that. I am having a better day today, and will be getting off early so I am anticipating the best day from the last two. Thanks for the response and the advice.

**Labeling (Chicken gizzard soup) Ha ha**

Sorry to hear about your day yesterday - that's the shits! I would have been pissed too! Hope today goes better for you! Stay positive!

Thanks, and today is definitely a more positive day.

So, today I wrote a note on my salad. This is what it said:
"DON'T TOUCH YOU FUCKIN MORON. SHIT AIN'T YOURS!!"

Sorry if that was way too graphic for sensitive eyes, but look, I am making a point.

B- Quaker apples and cinnamon oatmeal, 5 pieces of chicken cubes that were meant for fajitas from the dining hall.

I have an apple and an orange, some mandarin oranges, cucumbers and tomatos for my snacking today. I have a salad for lunch with the same veggies and 3 egg whites, teaspoon each of ranch and french. Dinner will be half chicken breast w/ brown rice, non-fat butter, roasted onions and tomato, and asparagus.

Last night, I thought I would be too tired to workout, but somehow I worked up some energy and did Hip Hop Abs Cardio party. That felt good. Today, I will be off early so, I will be doing one of the Turbo Jams, and the eliptical for 30 mins at the workout room. I usually take a walk after dinner whenever I am able to eat early, so probably that too. I have a lot more energy today and got 2 more hours of sleep last night so thank you Veronique for that Good Night Sleep you sent me! To all, have a great day and will stop by your diaries lata. Adios!

Hey

Glad to hear you got to sleep!!! I did too daugter only woke up once to use the wash room so I got to sleep too!!! Not helping me with the energy lol but still sleep is good!

I am hoping no one touches your lunch! I am lucky here cause we do have a fridge but only like 15 people in the office have access to that one the chemical and equipement division have their own. Since I am at reception I see anyone that goes into the lunch room!

Wow, having your food stolen is horrible. I used to have an office job a few years back and there was a problem like that going in the office. It was hard to see who took what since the "kitchen" is a blocked off section with a fridge and three 8cup coffee machines.

I like your note, it reminds me of an episode of friends where someone ate Ross's sandwich. If you never watched friends, then discard this last comment.

Much luck on your weight loss, I can't imagine how much harder it is with a baby. But you're a great role model for sticking to it.

Oh, yes, the one where he is told to go see a psychiatrist because he was so angry!

It is hard some days, because the baby wants all the attention after he hasn't seen me for working, but often times I just walk him with me, or my eldest son plays with him while I am jumping around to my workout videos. There is a daycare at the gym when I go. This summer should be a breeze though as my cousin comes every summer and gets paid to watch the kids, so I have an in-house babysitter when I need her. Thanks so much for your comment.

Our fridge went up about a year ago, and we just haven't gotten another one. We have to buy it ourselves. The state is cheap, claiming to be broke. Anyway, we are purchasing a new microwave this week, that is something that the office totally cannot live without. No one touched my lunch today, and to those of them that knew I was heated yesterday definitely knew it was me who wrote it. I wish we had a camera in the, but around her you have to be careful what you ask for when it comes to that.

I'm glad we were both able to get some sleep, it was and is still much needed. I hope you get that energy up, and get some more sleep so you'll feel more energized in the morning.

Hey! How did your night go? I should of just stayed up and done some cleaning lol! Oh Well I decided to have kids now I have to lack sleep it goes with the mommy thing! I wanted to buy a rockstar energy drink this morning but that is a vicious cycle! We can get throught this right? Hope you got more sleep them me...have a good day!

Hey! Wednesday night was okay. I heard the baby, but daddy got him so I wouldn't have to get up. Its hard to settle him though when he isn't in the arms of the one he wants at that moment. He's so smart, I know he knows what he is doing. I'm starting to think now that maybe the problem is is that he is just spoiled.

Last night I had to get up though, and when I laid him beside me in the bed, he was perfectly fine and went to sleep. I think he's spoiled. Today is friday though, and I cannot wait to sleep in.

It's good that you have help!!! I guessing my daughter wold probably sleep better if I let her sleep with me, but she is 3 and I never let her sleep more then 1 hour in the morning with me I don't want to start that. My mom did it with me cause my dad worked nights and I was like 9yrs old and I would sleepwalk over to her bed and my dad would have to sleep in my bed....until my parents got me a water bed lol! glad you got to catch up on your sleep a little. I am thinking of shipping my daughter somewhere for the weekend my baby boy sleeps fine, it should be the oposite hubby is home tonight so hopefully he handle the 3yrs old

Hello hello,

Have missed you. I'm with you on sleeping in. My sleep schedule is soooo messed up. I need to recover this weekend to get ready for the next. Gonna sleep early tonight so I can start with a run tomorrow. Glad you are getting some sleep. Have a wonderful weekend and looking forward to your weekend updates on Monday. Take care!!

sleeping in sounds good. How about looking into ferberizing? There's an article on cbs news.com about ferberizing baby. The only thing I know about it is from TV (modern family)-- can you tell I watch a lot of TV? Lol

This is a very interesting article. I'm a little tired and haven't had my coffee yet this morning so I have to go back through that. They made some very interesting suggestions that I believe I could use, but I don't know, it seems I have the most stubborn baby in the world. Thanks for the article, and yes, I do see you watch alot of TV LOL!

I HAVE A CONFESSION TO MAKE.....

I AM ADDICTED TO SUGAR...
I don't know of any other explanation, and I am so upset to have realized this, and that it is a problem. I was never like this before, and it just makes everything all that much more difficult for me, because I have lost weight before and kept it off, but THIS WAS NOT A PROBLEM!!

What made me realize this, just yesterday, is when immediately, I wanted a honey bun. I ate one. Thoughout the day I just kept wanting sweet, sweet, sweet. I ate a hershey bar, and was okay for a while. I told myself, it is okay, today is a bad day, I'll workout today and make it up for the rest of the week. I went to the emergency room with a family member after work, and the machine in front of me, was filled with sweets. I was looking at my favorite ones, and wanting them so bad, but feeling so EMBARASSED I didn't dare. But wait a minute, before going to the hospital, I got someone to pick me up an ice cream cookie. Yum, eating that, I realized, omg, what the hell am I doing to myself? At that moment, Brandon said to me, you know that you have replaced a bad habit, with a much worse habit don't you? Huh? He began reading the packaging of his canned pepsi and my ice cream box. 410 calories for the ice cream cookie/ 150 calories in the pepsi, and so forth. I felt bad, not just that I knew what was in it, but, because somebody else was calling me out on my shit. I threw the rest of it out the window. It was a long night.

I never was a sweet person, not like that. Very rarely did I eat candy, or think about cakes when they weren't in my face. So I had to think were did this come from? Pepsi. I was a pepsi fanatic. I cut out the pepsi, that wasn't a problem, but now I think that drinking pepsi must have been a satisfaction of this sweet tooth that I have developed, because when I did drink it, I did't over indulge on these other things I have been eating. When I stopped drinking pepsi before, I began to drink orange juice and tea, but usually only one of each a day, and I ate on ice all day to supplement my water intake. This time, I seem to be failing miserably. I have craved ice cream every day for the last few weeks. Before I thought that it was because it was just TOM, but I know it isn't now. My weight crept up today after yesterday's episode, and I am not proud to say that I have gained back much of the weight I dropped in the beginning. It's so embarassing, I can't even say what it is.

I REALLY, REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!! PLEASE HELP!! I AM SABOTAGING MYSELF!!

I have those weeks too, nyjoyabl. When I can't stop stuffing my face with sugar. But I replace them with fruits (one of the reasons why I was having lots of fruits few months ago). It is usually during TOM that I have the cravings, but they have also lasted longer. The only way I know how to deal with it, is by replacing them with fruits- hopefully this will help you also?

I have decided when I get paid on wednesday that I need to shop for alot of fruits. Watermelon sounds so good right now. I am having such a tough time with it. My job may play apart since I have a desk job. Years ago, I was on the move with two jobs and school, so I didn't have time to crave anything, and when I did, I couldn't get it, and it eventually disappeared I guess. I got smaller and smaller every week. Thanks for your advise.

Hi njoyabl,

Here's what I do...I like to eat fruit, flavoured yogurt...(mine is almost the same calories as the plain so I have been eating vanilla lately) sweet potatoes, sugar free mixed drinks, sugar free candies, kernel corn (canned).
I sometimes eat a date or prunes for sweetness. I cant think of others right now...(gawd dates are sooo sweet, I can't even finish one!)

I know some of these aren't the best choice....but if I go over cal budget eating a tub of yogurt, or three apples or have a diet coke....its alot better than eating a cinnamon danish, or snickers bar or tub of icecream. And I know its not going to be an everyday thing.

The point is reprogramming yourself...not to react to your old sweet cravings and to use that cue to make a better choice to fill that craving.
Even if its not the perfect choice....the big part is you didnt give in to what your brain told you it wanted....like the cupcake or twinkie or box of oreos. Instead you took control and gave it what you wanted to give it.
You will feel soo much better when you resist temptation and eat something healthier...you will gain positive conditioning and next time will be even easier.

Thats what I do....and for me it's worked so far.

Good luck and stay strong. It will be so worth it!

You know, this makes alot of sense. I guess I just need to make sure I have these types of sweets more readily available for me for when I go to work.

What is a date? Lol, for a minute I thought.....nevermind....hehe, okay, what is a date? I have to immediately get to the store and get some healthy treats, seriously. I am going to try this and hope that it works. Have you ever eaten frozen yogurt? I haven't, but if it is good, then maybe it will kill my ice cream cravings. I've seen them fat free and sugar free in the store. Any idea?

Hi Njoyabl

The date is the fruit of the date palm tree. It is a fruit with a stone or nut in it. When they are ripe and dried...its like eating pure sugar. And almost melt in your mouth.

Calorie count lists them at 500 calories per cup. I have one fruit...not one cup lol. They also have a fair amount of dietary fiber.

Again, I dont recommend eating them, but they are healthier than a candy bar.

Good luck.

Hey Njoyabl, I saw your other thread and backtracked to your diary page :) Started reading to catch up....wow about the bedbugs. I thought the exterminator was just taking advantage till I googled and realized there are bedbugs and this wasn't just dustmites.

Oh and another random comment, lol. I love Tetley tea too but since moving from the west coast to Ohio, I can't find it readily ;/. I switched to Lipton.

Anyway I had the same problems keeping up with a healthy eating plan when I was working and going to school but I didn't have a newborn on top of it. All I can say is wow your life is hectic and I'll think twice before I complain again, lol. I don't know if this will help at all but organization is always my downfall so I have to find tricks and tips to cope. I can't say I'm good about this all the time but when I am able to prepare stuff ahead for the week I find stuff alot easier. I've also discovered freezer cooking and wow does that make a difference. You'd be amazed what you can make and freeze ahead if you can even just get ONE day a month to do it. You and your sister could probably do it together even, let me know and I send recipes if you're interested.

As far as the cravings go, I used to have them really bad as well and I found having more protein helped and eating a substantial breakfast. I also used to buy these cans of "spirutien" at the health food store to make shakes out of that taste really good (banana orange is my fav). I used them for snacks, not meal replacements and I really felt better.

Of course since then, after years of being told there was nothing wrong with me stuff came to a head and they finally saw it in my blood sugar that there was something wrong, like I'd been saying. I had become low end diabetic and was diagnosed with insulin resistance so I'm taking metformin and the sugar cravings stopped. I also have pcos, which apparently goes hand in hand with the insulin resistance.

Not saying this is your issue but is it possible since this is a new thing that something else isn't going on? I'm not doctor but especially since you just recently had a baby, maybe you're deficient in something and that's setting off the cravings? I'd talk to a good doctor or nutritionist and see what they say. Hope you get to the bottom of it and find a solution though cuz cravings suck. And stress only increases it for sure.

Oh and I used to have my lunch stolen at work too at a previous job. Nothing worked so I started packing a mini ice chest, lol. Sometimes I still had to put a few things in the fridge but at least if it got taken I had something.

Sorry for the long rambly post :) Just alot of thoughts as I caught up on your diary, lol
