The Spoon, Puck and Me

Hey hun, of course I checked your diary first! Always check myself last; I already know what I've done today :)

BTW, just seen you update your 4 day no binge ticker! Well done dude! You're nearly at your goal!

OK, shocking revelation time. I've kept the scales out and am weighing everything so I can be more exact with my kcal intake. Plus, the cereal box says that the amount it offers *doesn't* include milk. When I weighed out cereal, I was just about at 30g. When I weighed the milk, I was putting on 200g worth. I know weight is different to volume, and I intend to see properly how much I actually put on. Feel a bit bad about it, but at least I can kick habits now. I've started weighing out 25g now, and 100g of milk. At the mo, we've got skimmed in, so that's even better. Yakky, but better.

Damn I talk too much!

I was very good today and I've weighed out EVERYTHING. I even weighed my apples!

So today has and will be as follows: PS. I'm putting exact amounts and using a calculator:

cereal - 112 with milk (skimmed) - 34
4 chocolates (*looks ashamed*) - 135
2 apples - 110
cheeeeeeese - (about) 100
2 pieces of bread - 222
tuna sandwich filler - 280 (when I first read it, I thought it said 208)
small fruit juice - 50
cereal - 112 with skimmed milk - 34

Grand Total: 1189

That's me being brutally honest. I knew my estimations were probably off (with the sandwich, about 100 off) and normally I don't count fruit juice.

Now, the chocolate issue is a terrible one. I'd come in from Brownies, tired and hungry... only to see my brother who is also "dieting" eating a chicken pizza. A massive 12" one no less! Then he told me that he'd bought me a box of my favourite chocolates. I was so good though, I took the box into work and gave them out to colleges and visiting pupils... I had two last night, then 3 at work. Then just now, as I was weighing them out, I was going to work them out without wrappers... it was melted, it wouldn't go back into the wrapper... and I'm such a sucker for melted chocolate...

That's my terrible confession. *counts out roseries and flails herself*

However, despite the horrible, muggy heat Britain's been plagued with, I still walked to and from work. That's about 4.5 miles in all. That about works off the chocolate...

I'm not hopeful for tomorrow. I'm going to have an early tea and chug water. I've been watering ever since I got home. Partly through heat, partly just to stop me eating anything else... I'm going to have an early tea, lay out (because it helps cells release water apparently) and watch a film. Then early night for last day of work :( *sob*

Right, better go and sort washing.

Thanks for always dropping by Mrs B :)

PS.

I really talk too much, don't I.

Bronsk

Hiya Bronsk, no you do not talk too much, you talk just enough. Mind you, I have been averaging 166 posts a week, so maybe I'm not the best yard stick

Thanks for reminding me of my goal, I think I said 5, hopefully 6 days. Well it won't be 6 because last Sunday was a sugary, bingey day, but I am going for 5. That means that while making dessert tomorrow for saturday, i cannot taste or sample. I don't need to, I am having some of the dessert on Saturday, so there is no excuse. I shall rely on you to motivate me by giving me this look  if I have a taste. It is the only way I will break this habit (who's talking too much now! :D )

I would recommend that you don't weigh milk, liquids are very heavy for a kick off ( a pint of water weighs a lb, so thats, what, 450g ...). When milk bottles/cartons state their calories, it is always per 100ml or per 250ml. You'd probably be better off measuring milk by volume. Semi-skimmed goat's milk has 43 cals per 100ml (I'm sure cow's milk is similar) so you could have 250ml of semi-skimmed milk for about 100 cals. Now that's not bad at all is it. I use 350ml to make my porridge, so don't skimp too much .... calcium is very important for us girls.

And great going on taking those choccies into work. I am guessing that you don't work with a lot of guys, because when I took a 450g box of milk tray into work, it was empty and in the bin within 10 mins .... seriously! But having 6 choccies in two days is really good. That is what a person who doesn't have to think about their weight would have. That is what they are designed for so it shows that you are changing your habits away from binging and towards reasonable consumption. Way to go .... that is going to make it so much easier for you to maintain when you reach your goal!! ;)

Oh, and that reminds me .... I don't know if you read about me munching through a whole 220g box of Dairy Box choccies in one day. It was a really hot day and they were sooooo soft and gooey and melted .... I couldn't stop myself  . My sister actually puts chocolate in the fridge!!!! But it doesn't melt in your mouth then !!!! :D

Right, I'm off to get stuff done ..... I said that 90 mins ago!! :D I will see you tomorrow, lady, at the FSD. Good luck, and I am sure you will see some good results. A little bit of cheating never hurt anyone ;)

Cheating? You mean like removing limbs? Tried that, didn't work :D Maybe I could try squeezing all my spots and cutting all my nails, and cutting 4 inches off my hair :p

Before I wrote the daft statement about milk in grams, I did actually weigh out a 100g of milk in a measuring jug, and it worked out at 100ml *confused* I could always start putting my breakfast milk in a jug, like a civalised person :D Semi skimmed cow juice is 49 kcals per 100ml, so not a great amount of difference. Milk isn't that high really, no different to fruit juice.

Funny you should mention about the chocolates! I unloaded a few on one other girl. So after lunch I literally stood in the doorway, offering them to the kids ("come, take some sweets of the stranger") and it was only the lads that took them. Some took more than one. But the little b@stards left 4 in the box  Growl!

Dude, you have no idea how much that made my mouth water! Melted dairy box... I can't blame you for munching the whole box, I would have done the same. My parents put chocolate in the fridge... or used to before we stopped buying chocolate... and it's the most evil thing I've ever heard of ever, in the whole wide world and the jungle!! I used to sit on chocolate bars to get it to melt :p You can't beat slightly melted!

Give you a cross look if you taste? I couldn't do that! I know I'm not going to sound helpful at all, in the slightest, but if you do lick it, make sure you enjoy it :D But know that if you do lick any spoons/whisks/bowls, you'll have Erik the evil phantom teddy bear cry... and turn more evil!

You've done so well with the sugar and binge free days! And with having the desert on saturday, and knowing you will, it gives you a definite goal as opposed to throwing it into the unknown.

You not coming back on again tonight? :( That makes me a sad panda! Ah well, I aught to unload the machine as well. GOOD LUCK for tomorrow, hope it goes well :)

*hugs*

Bronsk

You should know me better than that by now Bronsk ... I always say that I'm going about nine times each evening, before I eventually leave .... I'm a true addict :D

I posted about milk on one of the other threads, so sorry for the repeat info that you already knew  .

And tomorrow evening while I am 'baking' (its a no-cook key lime pie which has a biscuit base and a topping made out of double cream, lime juice and condensed milk ... you stir it and it goes thick then sets - can't really call it baking) I will be thinking of Evil Erik, and will do my best not to taste. If I am really good, do you think he will get less evil? :( :) :D

Parting wishes for the panda ;)

Parting wishes? Are you sure? ;)

I have the same problem, I leave a post in every thread saying "I'm going now!" then go back 5 minutes later and post again! The problem is, there are other people here, and they just keep on posting :p

That pie sounds gorgous! I'm tempted to lick the screen :p Erik says he will get less evil if you don't lick spoons. Love the morphing smiles :D If you do lick spoons, can I just point out that Erik lives at the bottom of my bed, so *insert psycho music here* I'll be the first victim...

If you do go, *hugs* and good luck for tomorrow! If not, see you in 2 minutes time!

Bronsk

I'm not the one who keeps posting, you are :p . Oh no ... I'm posting again!!!!!:D

Don't worry Bronsk, I am not going to let Evil Erik get you, I will be good tomorrow!!

Now, hand on heart, I promise when I send this post I will be logging off. You will see my green light go off and everything!! I just have to get a couple of things done before I go to bed tonight. If you post, I will reply in the am. See you tomorrow, sleep with one eye open or Erik'll get ya!!!! Eeek Eeek Eeek Eeek .... Bom Bomm ... Bom Bomm ... Bom Bomm ... Bom Bomm ....

So long Duckie .....

*is frightened*

I'll have to stick Erik in the cupboard... but as the film we made shows, he has a mind of his own

:( You have logged off and everything! *sob* Ah well, it inspires me to get off my marginally small butt and do... something. Maybe buy some guinea-pig food, that'll be exciting.

Just a few more rounds, then I *will* move.

Oo, just as a point, I've just about finished my first box of cornflakes!! Yeah!! Woo!! Raar!! *the crowd goes wiiiiiiiild!* So soon I'm going to graduate onto proper foods again!! Yeah!! Woo!! Raar!!

By the way, the meal idea sounds fab, I'll definitely give it a try! It even soudns simple enough for me to manage! I'll try some for lunch over the weekend.

For small meals, also thinking tuna mix (I used to eat just tuna with mayo for a while; no bread, no other additions) and try things like salad cream, honey mustard, and add sweetcorn. In fact... you know what, screw for a smaller meal another time, I'm going to get some stuff from Sainsburys. Dad's gone shopping as well, but I like to shop as well, plus it means I don't ahve to bother him :p

Good luck, third time lucky, so it's very very lucky :D

Bronsk

Way to go Bronsk!!!!!! A whole kilogram off, that is fantastic :D You are doing really well, and it is because of all your hard work and perseverance (yeah for spell checkers!!;) ) My theory is that although you have always had to eat a lower number of calories to maintain your weight, you may have upped your metabolism because of all the exercise that you are doing.

I may not be around much today, I am going to have to get all my chores done first before I come back on, and I want to be in bed by 8pm tonight. I can't survive on 5 hours sleep a night.

Keep up the great work, and I'll catch you later (if Evil Erik doesn't catch you first .....)

Big congratulatory (((hugs))) for the happy panda ;)

PS - I'm off to Waitrose now and will get those goat's babybels you recommended. I will have to use all my will power so I don't go crazy and get lots of nice naughty stuff!!

Thanks Mrs B, like I said, it was such a shock and a miraculas miracle of the most miraculas sorts. Well done for your loss as well :)

Yea, I think it is that my met.'s a bit shoddy. The exercise must be, even though I've not done a great deal of it... Maybe it's because I'm eating less chocolate and crisps; there are some foods which affect metabolisms and cause weight gain. If I'm *really* curious, and brave, I could always see doctor, but for all it seems like a good idea... *they frighten me*

Speaking of, I joined another weight loss website last night. Not a forum, just a calorie counting thing. It's all a bit bcolloks, and Americanised so it's hard to find the stuff I'm eating. Anyway, after I put in my details, and after the computer told me I was severally overweight (in bold as well) it told me I should be having 2050 kcals a day, with moderate exercise. Hm. How about no...

On the foodies front, today has been:

30g cornflakes (112) 100ml skimmed milk (34)
tuna (270) with sweetcorn (100) and low fat salad cream (61)
25g of cheeeeeeeeeeeeese (120 ish)
2 apples (100)
J20 (160ish - I forgot to check the bottle)

That brings me to 957 kcals so far. With tea (cornflakes and milk) it'll round out to just over 1100 kcals. Considering some sweetcorn as a snack, but if I wait half an hour, I may as well be having tea...

I'm going shopping next weekend for some new clothes for Cyprus. My jeans feel really slack, so I'm aiming to try (drum roll) the next size down *gasp!* It'll all end in tears; clothes shopping always does. But if I can find a pair of jeans a size down, that aren't too pricey, I may buy them and see about slimming into them as a challenge of sorts.

Oooo Waitrose shopping! Hope you like the goats cheese babybells now I've recommended them :) I'm sorry I'm not going to see you much tonight, I aught to really keep off the net tonight as well. Maybe curl up and watch that film I didn't watch last night, because I was on here for several hours!

*big big hugs* thank you so much for all the support and encouragment! I'm glad I've had ya these past few steps :)

Bronsk

Hi Bronski, just catching up on your diary and I think you're doing great!!! You really are dilligent about your measuring and counting and I can see it's paying off. 2kg is awesome!!! You are 10% of the way to your goal!!! Congratulations!!!

hope you have a great weekend!

Hey lady!

I have a website you might want to try. Its called Weight Loss Resources, and you can actually chose to have the UK or US database. If you look up, say, raspberries, you can even choose which supermarket they came from :D . I class myself as moderately sedentary, then add a couple of hours walking on for work. That gives me 1500 cals plus about 460. I don't always have my full quota, because its nice to have the extra calories give extra weight loss. I have between 1700 and 2000 a day. You may want to swing by this website and see if you get on better with it. You can have a free three day trial, but after that its £9 a month. Still reasonable I think. Its at

Its so great to hear that your clothes are getting loose, it just shows that your hard work is paying off. And even if the next size down doesn't fit, just remember that a few weeks ago you wouldn't even have been trying them on ... that's progress ;)

The babybels were nummy, however the goat ones are only 10% goat's cheese. Having said that, although I do have goat's cheese, I do eat a certain amount of cow's cheese aswell. Its strange, normal cheese and yoghurt are alright, its just the milk that I find makes me very bloated ..... very odd .... (that's the situation that's odd ... not me :D )

I'm off in a bit too, as it is 10.40 and I was supposed to be in bed by 8pm!!!!! Keep up all your hard work as it is really paying off. And thank YOU for all the support that YOU give ME. It is so great to have you back, even though your off to Cyprus soon :( . Its the wrong time of year to make friends .... the holiday season :D

Cheers duckie

Hey Scarlett, you know, I've never really thought of it like that. 2kg is 10%, that's pretty cool! It's nice saying that... a 10th of the way there! Thanks for the congrats :)

Mrs B, I'll have to try the Resources, it sounds a lot better than the one I'm on at the moment. That's pretty much the same reason I said on mine that I did moderate activity. I don't do 150 lengths everyday, or do 40mins stridding everyday. And when I go back to Uni I'll be exercising less, so it allows for various times in the year. And you're right, it does mean that more calories can be worked off in days we work extra hard :)

It is great having these jeans feel loose. When I first got this style, they were pretty slack, then I just gained and gained and even started getting a tyre  It's great that I've lost that again. Not sure if I'm back to where I was or less than, but either way, it'll be interesting to see.

Glad you liked the Goats Cheese Babybels, sorry they're only 10% goats cheese though. Haven't had them for a while, but they're still nice. We're going to Waitrose day *is far too excited*

Tea last night I over did slight; I'd got to the bottom of the box, so it was just those little crumbly bits. I looked in, thought "screw this" and filled the bowl to about 40/50g. Down to the last box, then I'll be having real food :D

Back soon!

Bronsk

*listen to this too good to miss...*

(sings:) Hey all you people, hey all you people, won't you listen to meeeeeee!
I've just had a sandwich, it's no ordinary sandwich,
It's a sandwich made with jelly-fish jellieeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Haha, rip from SpongeBob SquarePants there ;)

Seriously, I tried the Spicy Tuna Burgers (see recipes page) and although I mashed it around to suit my needs, it was soooooooo delicious! They're both filling, low in calories, include one of my 5-a-day, are less than 500 kcals for the both of them and are so goddamn tasty!! I really recommend you try it! My version was:

approx. 200g tin of tuna (in brine; in water's too expensive!)
80g of onion (80g = portion of 5-a-day)
1/4 piece of bread, crumbled myself
1/2 beaten egg
30g "hot sauce" or chilli sauce

I served mine with 30g of sweetcorn relish (that's 40kcals)

Sounds sad, but I've got myself a Tamagotchi  They're cute, portable and gives hands something to do. I like gadgets... and children's toys :p

Bronsk

Though I might take a plastic bag with me, just so I can get into the spirt of thing :p Hahaha!

Bronsk

PS. Have finally put up an avi (not as in avi2kat :p) It's Erik, the evil Phantom of the Opera teddy bear!

And you say you can't cook ....

The 'Evil' name has a face !!!!!! I definitely won't be sampling next Friday now (see post on BA to explain this). Or you could say .... 'No sugar or the Tamagotchi gets it'

I love Spongebob!!!! I have two cuddly SBs that say various phrases, and a metal lunch box that I keep various bits and pieces in ...... oh, I nearly forgot, I have a sweatshirt and a leisure suit that my family got last time they were in the US aswell. When I wear the top, it says SPONGEBOB in big letters on the back, and I keep getting shouts from kids on the street  I'm just a big kid at heart really :D

You sound like you are doing great, and fab work on losing 10% of your goal weight loss!!!! Big congratulatory ((hug)) for the happy panda ;)

Don't be fooled, when I try cooking the burgers again tomorrow it'll all go balls up :D I swear though, they were so fabulous, and I felt full, genuinely full, for over 6 hours, which just never happens to me. Probably helps that I ate lunch at 4:30

I have a feeling I might get in trouble; my calorie intake is only at 894  Although I am on an all out weight loss bonanza, I do have some standards; between 1000 and 1200. It's a bit too late to start adding cals. I'll feel the hunger tomorrow morning though

Not my Tamagotchi  !! I've grown so attatched to him... her. When it hatched, it said I was a girl  I wanted a boy, so I could call him Erik! Maybe he... she is the reason I'm not feeling hungry.

I *love* SpongeBob!! The film is amazing, it makes me laugh, cry and go all anaraky about animation! I'm so jealous, I want SpongeBob clothes :D Maybe when I go to the States next year I'll get some. Will have to get you something as well :p

Speaking of America, Top Cat was getting quite upset about how much he was going to miss me :( Makes me feel really sad about leaving. I'll keep looking round, and keep thinking about it.

Sorry I edited, but I wanted a "eek" face, but couldn't remember what the code was for it, then I couldn't see the rest of the posts :p

Thanks for the congrats, hun! *biiiiiiiiiiig hugs back!* And don't be sad; I don't like seeing sad faces on your sig. Hope you change them soon.

Fear not fair Bronsk!! I only put the frowny faces in because I thought it looked a bit silly having smilers next to 0 days binge/sugar free :D I am actually feeling really positive ... this is the first time I have dieted and felt that keeping it off was achievable. When I ate the naughty stuff this weekend I really was eating it because it was there, not because I wanted it. If I hadn't been entertaining, I wouldn't have had it in, and I wouldn't have felt the need to go out and buy something naughty.

This Camp America thing, is it a definite thing, or are you still umming and ahhing about it. I think it would be a great, fun thing to do, and would look good on your CV aswell.

You will just have to have the first ever Tran-sexual Tamagotchi, then he can be Erik too. What kind of 'Erik' would he be .... surely not another 'Evil' one!!!

See ya duckie!! ;)

PS - what you said about a 'code' for the smileys .... don't you have a box with the pictures in that you just click on? Is it set up differently on different computers?

Ah, fair enough with the smilies. I can see that you've been really positive, as I said in your blog (*hugs again for that*) and I'm sorry for repeating again about the sad smilies, just ignore me there ;)

Sometimes I'm very definite about Camp America, others I keep thinking about what I'm going to miss... Top Cat, mostly. He's the only reason I um or ahh.

Hahahaha, a transexual Tamagotchi!! Dammit I wish I could change his/her name to Erik(a) ! At the moment it's called Arwen; I needed a girl's name five digits long... and that was about the only one I got :D

With the smilies, I'm lazy, and just do a Post Quick Reply. I remember most of the codes, so I can do this or this or this! Nothing impressive, really, just easier than hoping from one page to another.

Well, I think I'm off to bed. Have a lovely... erm... sleep!
