The Spoon, Puck and Me

Hey Bronsk!! Buster was very flattered, he's been strutting around all day :D

Regarding the US/UK difference in language, you are forgetting one of the most embarrassing ones to confuse. I was shocked the first time I heard an american say fannypack!!!!

Also, I don't know if you are a Family Guy fan, but ....

Peter Griffin: I don't understand a word this guy is saying.
Cleveland: The only english idium I know is that fag means cigarette.
Peter Griffin: Well, would you tell this cigarette to get out of my face!!

Apologies for the bad taste gag .... that's family guy for you  .

Great going on the walk, especially on such a hot day .... I was drenched when I got back today. Do you take water with you?

Yes, I love Family Guy! And I couldn't believe it in the Simpsons when Marge came out and said "Look, I've bought you fanny packs!" Mind you, the Brit bumbag isn't much better!

Today didn't look hot, but I was surprised by how humid it was! Just before my "halfway" mark (it's probably nowhere near halfway) I was thinking to myself how much I was looking forward to going home and getting a shower. There was a point where I was tempted to take a short cut cos I felt so sticky and gak.

I did take water, but it was that rank Aurele from Lidl. The usual Bron water :)D) is really nice, but this stuff is gross! I did take a, *ahem* creme egg with me though...

Today's foodage has been as follows:

Breakfast: cereal (slightly larger than norm, about 40g)
Lunch: 2 clemintines, 1 apple, 1 slice of low fat cheese, cup of sugar-free jelly/jello, chicken tikka sandwich and strawberry and banana smoothie.
Tea: cereal

Snacks: Creme egg (on walk) banana, Options hot chocolate (40 kcals) Plus 3 strawberries.

Soooooo I've not been quite so good today. Though the trek today will definitely have burnt something off. Not quite an equal balance though.

Tomorrow, I have a plan! I've got all tomorrow off, so I'm going to go for a swim. A loooooong swim! I intend to reach 100-150 lengths, though with occaional breaks in the steam room. I'd love to reach the 200 mark, but I'm not that fast a swimmer, so it'd take a little to long. Like to try though.

OK, I'm going to check Bath times, then head bedward, as it's past 12:30 AM here.

*hugs* to all!

Ha - I am sitting here reading your posts with a lame British accent in my head. Sometimes I wish these posts came with sound. Then you could hear my Okie drawl. :D

Umm Twin, maybe it's better if these things don't come with sound ;)

Bronski, what a great day you made happen today :) Good Job!!

Excellent work Bronsk, and I used to eat Creme Eggs on the Weightwatchers program, so they can't be that bad!! ;)

You're up late tonight!! Nothing like having a day off the next day, is there :D .

Enjoy a nice lie in, and I will be keeping a close watch on your ticker!!

Hey gang!

Haha, M2M is right, twinmom! I doubt anyone would want to hear my Southern and Northern mix up (born in the South, moved up North. Dad a Southern speaker, Mum a Northern speaker...) Plus I sound rotton on recordings.

I do have a strange, twisted interest in language, dialect and accent, so to hear all the different accents that'll be present on this site would be incredible!

Well, I'm kitted up and ready for... The Swim *insert cheesey epic music here* Session doesn't start until 12:00 and finishes at 3:45. So if I stayed for the whole thing I would definitely get over the 150 length mark (my ideal amount) though not quite reach the 200 mark (my hope amount.)

Before finish packing and head out wherever the wind may take us (or some other naff Muppets Movie quote.)

Have a fab day!

Bronsk

Packing? Does that mean your off on holidays soon!! Mrs Bear blue :( . When are you off and when are you back. I shall miss you around the forum, and Buster will miss seeing photos of Vince!!

Thank you M2M! Will do and have.

For sheer stubborn's sake, and to get rid of that 1 at the end of the 1931, I did 151 lengths today at the pool! That's the most I've ever done. Normally I train under 100s then go for 100 during Swimathon. I really was hoping to get more than 150, but after the first 100 I was starting to lag, then I started feeling a bit bored, a bit cold... Plus I'd been in the pool from 12 til 3, and I was starting to feel a tad hungry! And on top of that, I wanted to go in the steam room :)

OK, today so far food intake has been as follows:

Breakfast: cereal (larger bowl)
Lunch: 2 clementines, 1 banana, small handful of cashew nuts, tuna & sweetcorn (and chive) sandwich and strawberry and banana smoothie.

Snack: apple

Although the nuts may not seem like such a bright idea, my thought was that they're high in carbs and good fat, so it'll keep me fuller just that bit longer. I intend on having a late tea, especially since this lunch is still being eaten at 5:00!

INCIDENTLY!! I have a very major and embarressing error to report. I have been going on about going to "Cypress" in this diary. Well, I'm not. I'm going to Cyprus. I apologise for my diabolical spelling. I like big words, but I just can't spell them!

Bronsk

ARGH!! The Bear jumped in before me!! That's twice now, missus :D Again, I feel I should apologise for my distinct lack of English language. The phrase was meant to be: "Better finish packing and head out wherever the wind may take us (or some other naff Muppets Movie quote.)"

Fret not, Mrs B! I was only packing to go swimming! Not a million miles away, but far enough. I won't be going anywhere for a long time... like a whole 4 days!

*hugs*

Don't be too embarrassed, I didn't even notice!!

Great going on the swimming Bronsk. I worked it out, you did 2.33 miles, that is fab!! :) And nuts are so good for you, they are full of fatty acids that actually help us burn fat  . Keep munching I say.

Oh ... dear ... Buster just did a whoopsy on the carpet!!! I told him, I bet Vince doesn't do that and now he's skulked off upstairs  . Lizards, eh?

Oh dear... And lizard poo is just such a pain! Vince would if he could, and he says he understands Buster, and gives Buster a hug. And a cricket!

I do love nuts! Dad bought a load of cashews and brazils from Holland and Barrett, and I just want more and more of them! But I know if I go over board, it'll have the reverse effect, and it'll all end in tears!

Thanks for the praise! It did feel like a big of long haul. I think tomorrow I'll go for a walk again (weather permitting; looking a bit threatening at the mo) and wait for the water to come out of my ears.

Speaking of water, I aught to go for a shower, as I still stink of swim. Then I think I'll curl up with Puck for a bit. He's such a character! I let him onto the floor every day (under some cardboard, I don't trust him) and let him run around. Last night, he came downstairs to watch 24 with boyfriend and I. Was very cosy... until he thought my neck was a chocolate drop.

See you guys later! Stay cool!

Bronsk

Both! :D

Sorry I disappeared last night. I'd logged on, about to post, and Dad said "oo, can I get on the computer for a while?" An hour later I gave up and went to bed. Parents, eh!

Well, yesterday evening went as normal; cereal for tea, but then constant pickings at the nuts! It wasn't loads extra, just two or three if the bag caught my eye. But the fact that I was picking, like picking at a scab, was frustrating, and I should have just stopped. The other thing I didn't think about was having a drink. Damn my lack of common sense!

Today, I'm going to try things differently. I'll have breakfast and tea as normal, but I'm going to break up lunch, and see that keeps me going for longer. So I'm going to have two portions of fruit (apple and clementines) with a slice of low fat cheese, then later, have sandwich with Angel Delight. A little fatty, I know. But it's under 200 kcal a serving, I may even weigh it out and see how much I'll be getting.

Normally I'd be whipping up another batch of Sugar Free jelly, but I have 6 packets of Angel Delight that need using. When I go into village later I'll buy some lolly moulds and freeze some. Tasty summer treat etc.

May also buy some skimmed milk to make it up with, so it's even lower in fat.

Once I've used up most of the full fat Angel Delight, I'm going to buy in some Sugar Free stuff, or Low Sugar, or whatever the offer is.

Also, I've had an idea. I know I said I was going to walk today, but cancel that. Instead I'm going to use the brand spanking new Stridder under our car port! And also make use of the skipping rope while the house is my own. I'll save walking for the weekend, and swimming every other day. Though because of holidays and work, I'm not sure how much swimming I'm going to be able to fit in next week...

Will do sit ups in my tent instead!

*hugs* to all, sorry about my grasshopper mind. Will do the rounds, then dig out some Judo trousers to train in.

Bronsk

Thats good thinking about the exercise. Its important to vary it so you don't get bored and if you've got a lot of different types of exercise under your 'belt' (that could be very funny aslong as they have belts in Judo - I have zero knowledge) then you can adapt to time constraints and the weather.

Keep up the fab work and enjoy Judo .... I could go for a bit of aggression release at the moment myself :D .

*titters*! Under my belt! :D Yep, we have belts. I'm currently at a humble blue belt status (order in judo is: white, yellow, orange, green, blue, brown, black) so by the time I go back to judo in September, I'll have swimming, stridding and skipping. The 3 Ss! It would be great to go back to judo in September and say "Woooooooochacha! I can't remember any judo, but I'm fit as a fit thing! Wooooochacha!" It would be great to go back to ju jitsu and not die during the warm up! Judo's a bit lazy and doesn't bother with a proper warm up anymore. Back in the day, when we did mass training for Yorks. in Goole, we'd do a 8 hour training session, with runs beside the lake, circuits, shuttles... it was pretty brutal.

Need to find an aggressive outlet? *hugs* Hope everything's OK.

Just done 15 minutes on the stridder. My mileage... kilomaterage... was just under 6 KM, so I guess that's not too bad... I think... Apparently I burnt off breakfast and the licking out of the Angel Delight bowl.

Speaking of, I've used up two packets of the stuff. One in the fridge, one in the freezer, both chocolate, my fav! I checked the pack again, and per 93g serving, it's 113 kcals, but 4.3g of fat. I guess so long as I keep active it's OK for a treat.

Just having lunch A, as planned, two clemintines, an apple and a piece of cheese.

Also, inbetween lunch B and tea, I'm going to have a small handful of cashews to stop me picking. Then I'm hoping to have tea no later than 8 PM, as I feel that having tea at 10/11 PM is a pretty shoddy habit. Need to kick it now, me thinks.

OK, I had breakfast at 11:00, having lunch around 1:30, so if I have lunch B at 3:00, then snack at 5:00 and tea any time after 7:00. Then water for the rest of the night. Another one of my flaws is that I don't drink half enough water and far too much fruit juice.

On the exercise front, get out again around 2:30, so food has time to settle. Then skip and stride.

Thanks all for your encouragement and support! I wouldn't be doing this without you, and I certainly wouldn't be able to do it without you.

Bronsk

I wouldn't call a blue belt humble, it looks quite far along the list to me!!

Thanks for the ((hugs)). I'm doing okay, just feeling moderately stressed because of throwing a party for 20 ish people this weekend, plus coming down after two days of eating sugar over the weekend. My father's side of the family comes out in me when I start organising, or cleaning the house. He is a real perfectionist and neat freak (I mean that in the nicest way;) ). I can be a big slob sometimes, but once I have tidied the house, and hubby comes in making a mess and getting crumbs all over the kitchen, I can physically feel my stress level go up and my heart starts palpitating ... crazy isn't it. I must start doing my yoga video and chill!! It's not his fault ..... he's just a man :p !!

It looks like your doing great on the calories and exercise fronts, and I wouldn't worry about that Angel Delight. 5g of fat is not much at all, and weight loss is a scientific equation between calories consumed and calories used, and where those cals come from shouldn't affect it too much.

Keep up all your hard work, keep making me giggle (and gaffaw!!:D ) and I can't wait to see it all pay of at the FSD!!

Bronsk, Blue is certainly not humble - I have my black belt in Kempo but have studied Ju Jitsu and Jeet Koon Do as well - some arts are definitely more intensive then others, but by the time you get 2nd under from black, you've put in a lot of hard work.

In Kempo it was white, yellow, orange, purple, blue, green, brown and black.

So our green belt (2nd under black) was the most dangerous place to be. People had the stength and abilities coming together, but lacked precision and control ;)

It's a lot of work just getting there. At least in Kempo, it's generally the "halfway" mark despite being close to black.

Anyway, just wanted to tell you to have a good day :D

Hey guys!

Mrs B, try not to focus on the stressful things, but think about how great the party's going to be, and how after this weekend it'll all be over and you won't need to worry about it anymore. Yoga sounds like a good way to wind down. There's nothing wrong with being a "neat freak", I'd love to be able to motivate myself into keeping my room tidy. Problem is there are just some things that don't really live anywhere, and they just end up on the floor, or on the chair. I don't think there's anything wrong with a characteristic like that. More *hugs!*

Husbands and boyfriends; who'd have 'em? Whenever TC comes over, he'll pick a book off the shelf, and *not put it back*. That ticks me off no end. And he'll come over and leave his shoes in the middle of the living room floor for everyone to trip over... maybe he should just stay in Ireland.

...

*regrets saying that*!!

M2M and Mrs B, OK, so blue belt isn't especially humble. I've been on blue belt for quite some time now, so it doesn't strike the same fear into the hearts of small children anymore.

M2M, wow you do a good variety! I know what you mean about the green belt status, in judo it always seems that when you get to blue belt, people start to get quite cocky and think they can do anything. Or at least, the people I trained with at Goole were like that. I didn't really get on with them. Maybe because my bark and bite are both quite tame!

My coach is hoping to get me to brown belt status, and I'd like to, but I'm not training half as much in judo as I was when I got my blue belt. Mind you, I'm working out more than I have done all year!

Speaking of, I did another 25 minutes on the Stridder and 100 skips. The skipping was put off when brother came home earlier than expected, and the Strid was cut short when said brother said that one of his friends was coming over. So scarpered and had a shower instead!

Had lunch B as planned; tuna and sweetcorn sandwich and Angel Delight with chopped banana. Oh, and a fruit juice. I'm aiming for one glass of juice a day, as it usually counts towards a 5-a-day. Had my nuts about an hour ago, so I'm set now until tea around 8:00 ish. Brought in some flavoured water (1.2 kcal per 100ml; nothing really) to keep the water intake up.

Right, I have a few things to sort, so will shimmey away to do those once I've done another whip-round.

Thanks guys!

Bronsk

ETA:

Just mentioned my Easter Egg else where. I have no desire to consume it, and I don't think I'll feel any remorse if I just threw it. In fact, once I've finished doing the things I should have started five minutes, I'm going to raid my bedroom with a bin liner bag.

My favourite phrase - 'A place for everything, and everything in its place' :D

I have the first part of that down to a tee, but due to my split personality, the second part only gets fulfilled every couple of days. It definitely makes tidying easier, because you haven't got to think, now where does that go?

One glass of fruit juice a day is ideal, as it is high in vitamins but only one glass can count towards the 5 a day.

Thumbs-up for a top notch day!! Keep 'stridding' for your goals (He-he) :D

*titters!* stridding for goals :D Thanks dude!

I can't even work the first part of that phrase! I mean, where are you supposed to keep a first semester's worth of work (around 600 sheets of paper)? At the moment, in the heap at the foot of my bed :p

Grandma's thrown a spanner in the works, and asked my family round for tea on my most inconvienient day. I go to Brownies (to *help*) at 6:30, and she's trying to get us to have tea *before* I go. Not helpful, as I'm taking the session tonight. Plus, with TC coming home, I really wanted to see him. Now I'm going to have to wait til about 8:30 to see him. Not cool.

Ah well, so long as I still get to see him, and so long as I can still go swimming.

Thing is, with going to grandma's, my eating plan is now kaputski, as I'll be eating too early for tea but too late for lunch. Hmm... Will see how I feel after the swim, but I think if I have a fruit based lunch, then have a bowl of cereal on the side for when I come home from TC's, I think that'll work.

Breakfast was slightly bigger again, as I intend to be in the pool for as long as possible.

One more dash round, then I better get dressed and gone.

*hugs*
