The mind is the enemy

That is some serious mental strength, like Delsid said. Honestly, I probably would have bitched out after one mile. You're going to kill the marathon with that kind of dedication. :D

Family can be bloody awesome. Great job both looking past the negatives in your climbing pics AND toughing out the rain and fatigue!

Thanks Delsid! I could use a little more time to save up for the down payment, but it sure will be nice to finally have a little backyard to call our own.

, running has become so routine lately.... knowing it was going to snow yesterday meant I had no other choice but to get out there and get 'er done. Mostly out of fear, haha, but whatever works, right???

LaMa, I need to make much more of an effort to see my family. If everyone was in one state I'd be there all the time but when I have to choose between three states to visit I usually end up choosing Option D ("other"). But I've got three little nephews who don't know me at all and I'd love to change that.

Good luck with the house hunting. If you get 'into' gardening, when you have a back garden I can heartily recommend it. It works all the muscles, you have something to look at and no gym fees

Being an aunt is awesome, even when it's mostly long-distance. A simple snail-mail postcard with their name on it every now and then can really impress little kids.

Gosh, the days are flying by! I've been a good level of busy, the kind where you have a three day weekend and it's still not long enough. We spent the extra day hiking (5.5 miles or so) and hanging with G's parents. I could feel the difference that marathon training has on my ability to climb mountains, and that made me happy.

Running: The past two weekends have involved 13 mile runs. It's amazing how well I feel during them. Saturday is my final long run, 20 miles... I'm excited and nervous.

Eating: We've definitely been eating out a little too much. Between me running and us spending tons of time looking at houses (online or during open houses), we have gotten lazy about grocery shopping and cooking. But I've calmed my sweet tooth down, and I've had a craving for Dr. Pepper since Saturday that still hasn't been fulfilled. We'll just ignore the fact that I did fulfill a craving for Mexican food on Saturday!

Love hearing about your marathon training!!! I have so much respect for you lot! :)

Hope your 20miler went well!

You are awesome and doing soooooo great! :grouphug:

How is your anxiety since you have started all the running/training?

I find that when I'm super on track I feel so much better re: Mind * Body * Spirit!

I hope that is happening for you to!

Fantastic job on the training. 20 miles is such a long way. I don't know if I could do it but I may have to try some day. If you can do 20 miles what is another 6.2-lol? You will do great!!

Well hello there WLF! It has been nine months since I stopped posting in here. I found myself sneaking on lately to see what's up with my old buddies and I figured I should probably just come back for real.

Quick little recap of me:

-Female
-31
-Almost 5'8"
-165.6 pounds
-Sometimes runner
-Sneaky eater
-Sweets lover

In the last nine months I:

-Ran a marathon
-Bought a house
-Started Cross Fit
-Dealt with a bout of depression
-Started therapy
-Got engaged

And now I'm here! The stress of marathon training and house hunting plus the change in routine that comes with moving to a house in the burbs threw me off my game for a while. My weight has crept up and my eating habits have gotten worse so I need to stop making excuses. And I will not lie, getting fit for that wedding dress is a little motivation, too :)

Welcome back Oaks and congratulations on your engagement!! How exciting? Is there a super romantic proposal story I need to hear ?

Congratulations Oaks and welcome back! 2016 seems to have been quite a ride for you. Have you picked a date yet?

Hi Sunflower!! He actually proposed on a Friday morning at home to make sure I wouldn't see it coming, haha (and I certainly didn't!) It happened in the front yard....When we were house hunting and visited the house we ended up buying, we were in the front yard when I told him I knew that this was going to be our home. We made that important decision there so he wanted to make our next important decision there, too. We've been together for six years so it was about dang time we make it official!

LaMa, hello!!! 2016 was definitely an adventure. Lots of highs, a few lows, but I sure ended on a high note. (And I started 2017 with a New Year's Day 5k, so there's that.) We will be getting married on October 28 of this year, in a lodge in the woods. I enjoy thinking about the details more than I thought I would but I'm still not excited about how many little decisions we'll have to make.

Sounds like you´re marrying the right guy :) And lots of time to think about pesky details (plus some pretty amazing ones).
