Here's the recipe I used, LJ!

I was trying to use up some old Dole dates so I used a whole package of those after deciding it was probably comparable to 18 Medjool dates. I was having trouble getting the nuts chopped in my food processor so I added some water - I don't recommend that. Next time I'll just make a smaller batch, because they are stickier than I'd like. They taste fantastic though.

Oh, I'm around... Lurking a bit, but mostly just falling behind on everyone's adventures. I've had a lot of dining out and get-togethers in the past seven days, with a ski trip with 8 of my friends coming up this weekend. So food had been a struggle. I ate salads at 3 of my 4 restaurant visits, so I do consider that a win. Had a bit too much to drink on Saturday and Monday. Monday isn't exactly my usual party day, but I had a reunion with some old co-workers while one was back in town from California.

Running has been good. I'm virtually pain free and completed 15 miles in 3 hrs 12 mins or so last Saturday. That's a long time. Listened to comedy to keep me entertained, and my new shoes are amazing.

Great job on the running, lots of miles logged! I went for a few walks over my vacation and got winded only doing a mile of brisk walking. I can't imagine running 15 miles! You rock! :)

15 miles!! Amazing! My longest distance has been 13 but I really want to run a full marathon at some point..The idea is still daunting as the half marathons I've done were hard enough but the magical 26 miles are calling hahah. I'm using the Nike Running app coach function, it's fantastic and I've actually got it on the full marathon training programme...we'll see how it goes.

Hi Stacy! This week went by fast, it's practically the weekend!

Hi Cate! The weekend was amazing! My friends surprised me with a birthday cake (oh yeah, it was my birthday) and we just had so much fun.

Thanks Mandy :) It was a long process to get to these miles, that's for sure.

Welcome Delsid! I thought about a marathon for a long time before a finally signed up. The miles are going to sound daunting until you've trained for them, and you're not going to train for them until you sign up for a race... So I say don't wait until they sound easy because that day will never come.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, Delsid and Cate!

Time has been flying by lately. I think the marathon training is a big part of that. I ran 17 miles on Saturday, which took 3.5 hours. Combine that with how long it takes me to get ready for the run and that's a huge chunk of my day gone. Plus I've just had a lot of weekend plans lately which is very unlike me. This weekend is a half marathon + more running to total 18 miles, and the next weekend is a quick trip to North Carolina. I just want a day to stay in my jammies and rest.

I've been trying to fuel my body a little better lately. Yesterday was rough though, we had a family gathering and the food was catered Chinese AND fried chicken. And about 5 different types of brownies. I only indulged in two brownies, though. I'm looking forward to a healthier work week.

Wow! You are very busy right now....:seeya::hug2:

You're doin' great things for yourself! Remember, rest is important to! ;) lol

Oof, that's harder than a marathon!

Stacy, I hate being busy! But I've been lazy during the week nights, so I'm getting my rest in there :)

LJ the good news is that I spent a large portion of Sunday being separated from the food by a large group of people I didn't want to have to snake through. Damage could have been worse, that's for sure. Also I don't like eating chicken with bones in public. So the fried chicken was no threat.

Monday's gold star: Lunch was a delicious mix of a bell pepper, tzaziki sauce, grapes, pecans, and a babybel cheese. Healthy and satisfying.

Monday's demerit: I ate a dessert right before dinner and still wanted a dessert after dinner, so I probably had 600 calories of evening sweets.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, Delsid and Cate!

That is awesome that you are training for a marathon. That is on my bucket list too. I know what you mean about the step up from 1/2s. I have run a few 1/2s now but the extra mileage is daunting for me. Good for you for stepping up the challenge. Someday I hope to take the challenge too. I am not sure if I am up to it but I am going to give it try too. Maybe later this year. I hate running in the heat so it may be a Winter destination marathon. Good luck and keep up the good work!

Thanks, Cowboy! My first month of training was pretty miserable (on account of the shin splints and all) but I've settled in nicely now. I wish there were a common racing distance between a half and a full, but I can't seem to find many options. I hate the heat as well and that's my biggest fear about this race.... that it will be cool for the weeks before it and suddenly the first heat wave will hit.

I ran six miles around Boston after work yesterday. I don't generally run right in the city but it seems like I should since I'm already there and the commute is shorter if I wait out traffic. Well, I hate it. There are a zillion people and tiny sidewalks. There are some areas of wider sidewalks, such as the park, but that's where the druggies and homeless hang. You gotta weave around the people smoking weed and I also had to run past a lady who appeared to have drank some bleach (the ambulance was just arriving as I passed). I'll stick to my quiet little suburban morning runs from now on, thankyouverymuch.

In other news, I have been a chocolate fiend as of late. Not in large quantities (yet) but a brownie here, chocolate chips there. Yesterday was three Reese's candies. Perhaps I should try and eat more fruit to get the sugar craving in a natural way.
