The mind is the enemy

Well hello, Monday morning. We meet again.

I'm happy to report my hip is feeling much better. I hit up the treadmill this morning and took it really easy so as not to aggravate anything. One total mile of running, split into two halves at 5.4 mph, plus another mile and a half of walking, mostly at an incline of 4.0. I'll work my way up slowly before trying to do anything intense again.

The weekend was pretty lazy. Food included sushi, 3 slices of homemade pizza, a buffet meal at a fundraiser, and pancakes (among other things). I haven't had pancakes in SO long but I had a random craving so I whipped up a batch. Oh, I also made homemade rocky road ice cream. It came out pretty darn good. Had a few spoonfuls on Saturday and a teacup full on Sunday.

Food for today will include grape nuts, a fruit smoothie, 2 pieces of leftover pizza, and a steak sandwich with peppers and onions.

Glad your hip is feeling better! I had an ice cream craving the other day, but I don't make homemade so had to go get some. White chocolate ice cream with nerds, caramel, and cookie dough!

Mmm.. your food sounds good. We haven't had homemade pizza in a while. That needs to go on my list for next week, along with the darn Grape Nuts that I can never remember. lol. Glad your hip is feeling better! :)

Q, that food didn't sound so bad as I was eating it... But writing it down afterwards sure made things a little clearer.

Mystic, I don't use my ice cream maker that often but I haven't been disappointed in it yet. It certainly doesn't compare to high end stuff but I like to use quick and easy recipes.

Jen, I bought TWO boxes of Grape Nuts this weekend because I go through it so fast! My boyfriend has been on a pizza kick for a while now. He recently bought multiple pizza pans, including one for deep dish (which I keep threatening to use for a giant pecan pie). And he's trying all these different dough recipes to find the perfect one, which means we keep searching for random ingredients like "00" flour and malted barley powder. It's a hobby, I guess.

Huge win for today.... I went for a run OUTSIDE! That may have been the first time in over two months. It was finally both bright enough and warm enough for me to not worry about ice in the morning. I could have recently started running in the afternoons but that's really not my thing. Anyway, I am happy. Did twenty minutes, which got me 1.77 miles.

Welcome back to the world of fresh air! I'm looking forward to doing some lunchtime walks, myself. Not today cuz of rain, but maybe tomorrow.

Also, not sure if you follow NPR on Facebook or not, but they're putting out an APB for adults who use coloring books:

Coloring books aren’t just for kids anymore. Are you an adult who loves to color? Whether you do it for de-stressing at the end of a long day, for bonding with your kids, for your job or just for fun, we want to talk to you. Please send an email to nprcrowdsource@npr.org and tell us about your coloring habits with the subject line ADULT COLORER

'Adult Colorer" somehow makes it sound like I'm doing something risque, doesn't it???

Have I talked about my new found love for these little plastic containers?? I can't recall. I know I mentioned my Tiffin, but I never use that. I'm a snacker and I'm now obsessed with these Blender Bottle GoStak containers.

They are pricey but I use them daily. It makes me not hate having a zillion plastic containers because they are pretty and stack together. At work right now I have six of them between the fridge and my snack drawer.... cottage cheese, applesauce, carrots, almonds, dried edamame, and dried corn. The biggest one holds about a half cup, they are made to fit inside the actual blender bottle but I don't own one of those. I sound like an advertisement right now but I just really can't get over how much I like these! The orange ones in particular.

"Adult colorer" makes me wonder where you put your pencils :D Those little containers look awesome! I love my lock ´n lock collection but pretty they are not...

I'm not always on board with 'pretty' being high on a priority list for functional items, but sometimes it really does make things more pleasant. I'm also not always on board with apparently requiring a minimum of six random snack items for working hours, but that's a different matter altogether!

Those containers are cute. I just happen to LOVE containers. I wish I hadn't seen that photo.......

Great job on running outside! Those containers look nice. I like how small they are. It's hard to find nice small containers.

Congrats on being able to run outside! I love being able to walk again. Being out in the fresh air is truly awesome. :)

Cate, it's probably good these only come in small sizes or I'd be unnecessarily buying so much new stuff!!

Mystic, it's amazing how much I use these little guys. I'm sticking to one color though, I can't go too crazy.

Mandy, this rain forced me back to the gym today but yesterday was enough to convince me the sun will be back. I love getting outside for just a few minutes at lunch to recharge when it's nice out.

LJ, I should probably save the adult coloring for after hours, right?? :) I've always thought a little puzzle at work would be a nice touch but maybe coloring would do the trick! I'll have to see if I can expense some fancy art tools, haha.

Jen, that coloring book looks amazing! And not a drugged out dog in sight!

Alright, weekend recap - not too great. I really gotta get my priorities straight. Over 1,000 calories just on booze on Saturday. And I wasn't hungover on Sunday, so it's not like I went on an all-night bender.

The boyfriend is still on his homemade pizza kick. I think I finally talked him into a) not making pizza every week and b) not making 2 giant pizzas ever. We'll be having salads for dinner tonight, that's for sure. I had three pieces last night and have two for today, which I plan on eating at separate times so that should replace any afternoon snacking I might have otherwise done.

On the plus side, I got four runs in last week!!! On Friday I did 0.75 miles at 5.5 mph * 2 (was still easing into things with my hip). Yesterday was a beautiful day and I went outside for 3.6 miles in 41 minutes. My hip was acting up a little after a mile or so, but nothing unbearable. Afterwards I did a few minutes of arm workouts, which was enough for me to be sore today.

That coloring book is awesome! There may not be drugged out dogs in it, but it looks like the creator was pretty... relaxed while making it ;)
