Wednesday recap:

Breakfast - Steel cut oats and a banana
Lunch - A veggie wrap and a little bit of fruit smoothie
Dinner - Chili with tortilla chips
Snacks- 2 mini PB cups and a few cups of popcorn in the afternoon, round two of Ben & Jerry's at night

Exercise - Lunchtime walk with a friend.

I ate a little more of the ice cream than I did yesterday, but there's still a solid serving left in the pint. The rest is allocated to the G-dawg. Today REALLY would have been a good day for a drink to help wind down. Work got stressful close to quitting time, and I stayed a couple of hours late to work on something I thought I had already done (whoops). But instead I busted out my new coloring book (see above). It distracted me for a bit, and now I'm tired. And not overly proud of my coloring skills.

As far as coloring goes. I color when I'm with my nieces, and I always try to color super nice, and then as I'm trying to finish it, my niece decides to 'help' and proceeds to color some areas in in marker and doesn't stay in the lines too great.
Good job not reaching for a drink after a hard day!

The color details on the cattails are impressive. The composition is questionable. The guy has a kreel and a stringer, but doesn't know how to use a stringer. The tiny boat is front loaded yet the prow is high in the water. The dog is obviously on drugs. None of this detracts from your coloring skills. Actually your coloring saves it.

Very nice coloring! I especially like the orange hat. :) I need to get a coloring book. The only coloring books in my house have big chunky cartoon characters in them. And I agree with Quercus, there is something up with that dog. lol!

Keep up with the coloring! Love it!

Hey! Give that poor dog a break y´all! The picture is obviously a hallucination by a fishing-layperson (as evidenced by Q´s observations) caused by eating bad fish (due to not being able to fish, no wonder when you´re living in a desert area with bad refrigeration), so of course the dog gets a bit weird when all of a sudden a fish wants to get into the boat. Obviously ;)

I've been thinking of getting a colouring book & will now. I think I'll go for the Mandela sort so I can let my colouring imagination go wild!

Cate, I had to Google that term but while I was coloring my drugged-up dog last night I was thinking I should have gotten one of those books "that's just crazy patterns." Looks like we're thinking the same thing!

It was so much fun to wake up to everyone's comments! I might not recommend this particular book, but I've still got 29 more pictures to color from it. So be ready for more analysis, haha.

You need to use the wrong colors on one of those, and mail it to the publisher!

Between you, Q, and Jen, I'm starting to wonder if I should get something going - I like to sculpt, and I'm not half-bad (or, at least, I used to be goodish when I was in middle school).

Incidentally, good job on not caving to the urge for a beverage last night!

LJ my preferred hobby is jigsaw puzzles, but our living room is too small to do anything but the smallest ones in there. It's the one thing I hate about our house - we have sooooo much space overall but the living room feels so cramped. I can do puzzles on the dining room table, but then I feel anti-social so they don't end up getting worked on very often. Anyway, that was a long way of saying yes, do something artsy for us! Express yourself! And for goodness sake, don't insult Q and Jen by putting my artwork even close to the same category as theirs!

Thursday recap:

Breakfast - Cottage cheese and an orange
Lunch - Roast beef sandwich
Dinner - Frozen pizza
Snacks - Dried kiwi, 1 piece of chocolate, half of a fruit smoothie, a few spoonfuls of homemade fruit cocktail

Exercise - Extra walking and a yoga video at home

For my homemade fruit cocktail I threw a bunch of fruit (canned, frozen, and fresh) into a bowl, added some orange, pineapple, and lemon juice, and spooned everything out for freezing in individual jars. The mix of fruit was random.... bananas (fresh), strawberries (frozen), and peaches, mandarin oranges and crushed pineapple (canned, and the only stuff I could find that wasn't in syrup). We'll see how it turns out.

For my "extra walking" I was just focusing on adding extra steps whenever I could. A lap around the block instead of waiting at the bus stop when I got there ten minutes early after work. Getting off at an earlier bus stop this morning and walking the difference. A lap around a different block at lunch before getting my sandwich. I think my legs were still a little tight after Tuesday's run because it felt REALLY good to get them moving a little more than usual.

Great job with the extra walking. I remember when I had my fitbit I would do laps around my (MASSIVE) apartment building to try and get my steps in!

Doing great! For the jigsaws: have you tried one of those roll-up rugs? I don´t know what they´re officially called but I used to do loads of jigsaws and my mom gave me one. You make your puzzle on top of the "rug" and when you take a longer break you lay a long cylinder on top of it all and roll it up tightly. Nothing moves, you can put it to the side and when you want to continue you just roll it out again.

Good thinking on the extra walking now that it's warming up. And I'm curious to hear about the frozen fruit cocktail - gotta be better than the canned stuff!

Re: puzzles rollup things, we have/had one, and it definitely works. It's a piece of felt cloth that rolls around a big cardboard tube. You can put the pieces in the tube, too, so you can travel with it and do a puzzle on a plane!

Well, the snack monster had left me alone for most of this week but he must have been lonely because he would NOT leave me alone today. Perhaps I shouldn't have started off the day with thin mint cookies? Was that his invitation to come play? That may have been a bad choice. Six thin mints, three mini PB cups, and four mini cookies later.... my tummy hurts. The mini cookies were bite size, I'm talking 1" in diameter, so four of those on their own would have been ok. But not in combination with all those other sweets. But hey, I'm not going to spend the night indulging in beer, wine, or mixed drinks, so I bet I'm still coming out on top!

I haven't really had the motivation to write in the past few days. Went to the gym this morning for the first time since Thursday. Ran 3.25 miles at just over an 11 minute pace. My hip had been acting up, so I need to spend some time stretching tonight. I went too aggressive with sprints and hills last week... Gotta keep it easy for a bit.

Food has been ok. Good not great. Dinners have included chicken noodle soup, shrimp Pad Thai, and taco salad (all homemade) plus one very much not homemade buffalo chicken mac and cheese. I was definitely craving it but it was too rich even for my craving. Was very happy I ordered broccoli on the side, even though it was covered in butter. Saved a bunch for leftovers and shared it the next day.

My sneaky snacking crept back over the weekend. I found myself home alone on Friday night and awake alone on Sunday night, and despite being tired I found my way to the kitchen for unnecessary treats. But on the bright side, I am 11 days booze-free! And not without an inner struggle.

Oh Snackmonster, you evil SOB, get out of New England! He has impressive coverage, doesn't he? He's been hitting my house heavily the last few nights.

Congrats on 11 days with no alcohol! That's awesome. The snack monster hit my house as well last night. He does get around. haha!

Does the snack monster borrow Santa´s sleigh? He seems to have dropped through all of out chimneys... Great job on booze-freedom though!
