LJ, you probably remember that I truly can enjoy and appreciate a single good quality beer at times, but I'm over being hungover after too many boring drinks on a Thursday.

This. Not just for beer but for chocolate and cake as well.
 
Thanks, dude! Everything I thought I'd do in my twenties is still possible, so that should make my thirties pretty darn great, right???

Thanks, Mystic! The boyfriend ate three dough balls yesterday, it might be time to replenish my supply, haha.

LaMa, yes, I didn't even make that connection! We shouldn't be wasting time, energy, or calories on anything that isn't worth it.
 
I just got scolded by my boss for eating fruit and cottage cheese for breakfast on my birthday instead of cake. But I know you all will support that decision :)
 
Cake is definitely overrated! Early Happy Birthday from me too Oaks. If it's any consolation you are just a baabyyy!(compared to me ;) ) Your 30's I think are the best years, or maybe your 40's.....I'm still loving life & doing silly things & making mistakes. Life is what you make it, whatever age you are, xo Cate
 
You're not early, Cate, you're right on time :) My thirties are here and I'm ready to take them by storm! I've had such a great day at work, my co-workers really are the best. Now it's time to head home and enjoy the night with G. We've got nothing planned for tonight but we will be celebrating on Friday. Hopefully I'll have at least one more treadmill run to report between now and then!

Happy belated birthday!! I'm glad you stuck to your plan on your birthday. I know I would've used it as an excuse to "treat" myself. Any excuse will do for some sweets. :D

Day 1 of 18 with no alcohol! 18 might not sound like a lot, but let's take a look at the past five days, shall we?

Monday - Half a bottle of red
Tuesday - Three vodka based drinks with juice
Wednesday - 1 beer and 1 shot of tequila
Thursday - 2 margaritas
Friday - too many drinks to count

The 'too many drinks to count' nights aren't weekly, thank goodness. Interestingly enough, my birthday was actually the lightest drinking day, but Tuesday, Thursday and Friday were all birthday-related celebrations. A rough estimate of calories using MFP shows 2200 calories worth of drinks over that five days, and I'm willing to bet I estimated low or forgot a drink or two.

Tonight we hit up a Chinese restaurant where I over-indulged in crab rangoons and enjoyed some pretty delicious unsweetened iced tea. When I ordered the tea the waiter actually double checked that I wasn't trying to order a long island iced tea. It's like he knew I was breaking routine, haha.
 
You know you´re in trouble when the waiter assumes you´ll have a cocktail with your meal. Good luck with the next 18 days!
 
The nice thing (or should I say, one of the nice things) about not drinking (I have had maybe one or 2 alcoholic beverages in the last couple years), is not having to worry about the calories in them. I can certainly imagine how quickly those can add up. Good luck on 18 days! I had chinese food today too!
 
Thanks, ladies! I love having this place where I can share these mini goals. It really is so helpful. I picked a good time frame to do this because our ten day forecast shows not one day with a high that's below freezing! That'll make it much easier to get out for walks and runs. And hopefully our snow will melt quickly, it's hard enough to walk through the city right now let alone run.
 
Snow in the city is nothing but a pain. I wish you a warm rain to wash it (and the accumulated dirt) away.
 
I'm clammering back on the old wagon too. I drank way too much Friday and a bit on Saturday too. I'm a day behind you, but I'm there with you now. Good luck with weather, walking, and runs too!
