The mind is the enemy

It's 12 degrees outside, with a high of 19 tomorrow, and I just polished off a nice cold smoothie and have one in the fridge for tomorrow. I had a block of silken tofu in the fridge that I realized I needed to use up quickly, and I was too lazy to think of any other way to use it.

Now it's time to cuddle up with a blanket because I am COLD.

Another quick use for silken tofu is to make an egg salad out of it. Or rather egg salad style tofu salad. Makes good sammiches. It's supposed to be 19 here tonight. I have to go survey ponds in the morning. I am going to freeze!

I was trying to get myself to go to the gym this morning, but I will admit that I opted to stay in bed after discovering it was -1 out there. I have to face that temp during my commute but I was NOT willing to face that an extra time. Excuses, excuses, I know.

Ahhh, Q, I wish I had checked in before making those smoothies! I love egg salad but rarely bother to hard boil eggs. I'll have to remember that. I originally bought the tofu for some sort of vegan chocolate pie. Why I was looking at vegan pie recipes, I don't know, but it looked good. Stay warm by those ponds! Do you have all the right gear for those temps? Truthfully I'll be pretty much ok out there once I fully commit to looking like the kid from A Christmas Story. My cheeks will be cold, but that'll be the worst of it.

Ahhhhh, that is cold! It's frosty but sunny here today--luckily where all I'm doing is swimming it's practically tropical when im exercising! Although the 2 mile walk home with wet hair is less fun...

Your smoothie sounds lush!

Brrr, wet hair in the winter is rough! I dislike having to blow dry my hair in the winter, so I end up just washing it a lot less. Which isn't a bad thing, I suppose.

I did this exact same thing yesterday. I felt a little guilty....but then I went outside to take the trash out and the guilt froze the fuck off.

-1 is WARM you crazy person!!! It's been sitting at -22*C before wind chill around here this past week!

That's not so different, Mystic! -1 fahrenheit is -18 Celsius!! We're all freezing our bums off.

Haha, Lucy, you just keep sitting quietly! No, it's really not too bad if you dress right. There isn't much you can do to avoid getting soaked in tropical storms, though!

I dressed just right Oaks. I didn't freeze this morning and was unzipping layers by 11. Slogging through half-frozen mud is quite warming (waterproof boots).

-1 is no joke. The indoor track is my salvation. Even in the 30s the cold air kills my asthma.

:svengo: Oh, brrrr! That would be so hard to cope with!...... :blush5: sitting here quietly on a 21oC (69oF) "Summer's" day here in Tassie. No tropical storms here(;) Lucy), thank goodness!

We're getting down to... -33 with the windchill tonight. -29 tomorrow morning, but thankfully warming up for the rest of the week!

I really don't mind the cold that much, now that I've spent years slowly investing in better gear. I was so cheap for so long, but those $70 mittens I just bought are AMAZING!

Just got back from the gym, after another three days off. I've been doing a little yoga the past few days. Yoga by Adriene, on YouTube...she's what you use right Q? I've been doing well with food the past few days, too. Monday was blah, I ate my feelings hardcore but I've been good since then. Last night's 'treat' was a half cup of coconut milk nog. That's a 90 calorie treat, in case you were wondering :)

Coconut milk nog sounds perverse - but in the most tasty of ways. Otherwise: there´s no such thing as bad weather, just bad gear.

I don't indulge in much egg nog, so the dairy free nog is a pretty solid option for me. After hearing the ingredients list in a friend's homemade eggnog over the holidays, I think I'll be sticking with the coconut milk version forever!

Lucy, I buy it. The same brand also makes a mean pumpkin spice coconut milk. I took advantage of post holiday markdowns!
