I'm liking the Vivosmart so far! It's a step counter, and comes with a heart rate monitor. I tracked today's run, saw that the mileage was off, and promptly deleted the activity before remembering that I wanted to check out the heart rate info. I'll check it out next time. It's got a 'move bar' which will vibrate if you've been still for too long, and won't reset until you've been active for a couple of minutes. And since I've been too lazy to fix my broken watch for the past year, I'm actually really excited just to have a watch now, haha.

I got a fitbit for Christmas, and I love it. Actually, I got TWO fitbits for Christmas. There was a bit of miscommunication between Chef and his mom..haha.

Run Streak Day 30 [12/26]:
5.02 miles in 56:59. Slow and steady. Warm temps. Kinda felt like stopping after three miles but for no physical reasons so I fought through. Stared at my phone as I got close to five because I didn't want to run one foot extra.

Run Streak Day 31 [12/27]:
2.56 miles in 29:59. This run felt pretty darn good considering my legs were tired. Purposely kept my strides long for the second half and was rewarded with a solid pace. Makes me wish I would have focused on longer strides years ago.

Five more days of the streak!!!! I can't believe it. Friday is going to feel weird.

There is no way I'd put together that long of a run at this point. It's 36 and raining here at the moment. I may drive into town to hit the indoor track. Day 32 and I can't believe it!

Ugggh, I just ate so much sugar cookie dough. And then a baked cookie so I could find out how they came out. Pretty blah, which is especially disappointing since I absolutely hate rolling out dough. So not worth it.

Run Streak Day 32 [12/28]:
2 miles in 20:48. My second mile was in 9:59. I'm feeling good these days. Maybe it's the fifty degree weather.

Yesterday was bad. If G's shower were any longer I would have made myself sick. I had confession immediately after, which included pulling three Hershey kisses wrappers out of my pocket. Other binge items included a leftover garlic breadstick, 2 sugar cookies, a brownie, and a small handful of corn nuts. And there's no guarantee I'm remembering it all. I'm blaming myself, obviously, but also blaming hormones. Being a girl has its downsides.

Oaks- stoppppp!!!!! I felt queasy reading that! 2015- a new year, a chance to break old, bad habits xo Cate

Cate, I know, it was awwwfffffuuuuullll!!! And food binges like that really get to my stomach the next day, so today was yucky. I'm ending the year aware of what changes I need to make, so 2015 will be off to a good start.

Jen, having my girly time right after my house became stocked with Christmas goodies just seems unfair! Thankfully the worst cravings pass quickly.

~A major advantage of being a "woman of a certain age' :D is not missing hormones! :D ~

Run Streak Day 33 [12/29]:
1.04 miles in 12:02. After five days of running in the middle of the day this early morning was rough.

Run Streak Day 34 [12/30]:
4.75 miles on the treadmill in 52:18. Amazing workout. I had exported my data from the app I track my runs with and actually used that info to decide how fast to run. I felt good. So good that I came home and signed up for my first race of 2015.

Sooooo my first race of 2015 will be a New Years Day 10K!! I've wanted to do this run for a few years now. Now seems like the perfect time. It'll keep my food and drinking in check tonight, and will be a fantastic way to end the streak. I'm PUMPED. The high tomorrow is 33...too bad the warmer weather didn't stick around for a little longer!

That's awesome! A great streak ender for sure! Happy New Year and have a great race! Thanks again for streaking with me!

Well, the streak is over! Today was my favorite day out of the 36, and yesterday was my absolute least favorite day of running ever. Recap below, sorry in advance for how long it is.

Run Streak Day 35 [12/31]:
1 mile in 11:12, in temps below freezing. Had a slightly scary moment where a man ran up behind me and grabbed my shoulder. I turned around as I was continuing to run away and he was just standing there looking at me with a creepy smile on his face. I yelled at him not to touch me and sprinted away. I was seconds from home, which was good because I could get there quickly and safely, but also bad because I am now unwilling to run down that street anymore. I believe the man lives in a house around the corner, as I saw someone taking out the trash as I ran by. It was a wake up call. I live in a very safe city, but bad things happen everywhere. I had headphones in and didn't hear him coming at all. Everything turned out ok, but it scared me. This split second incident is absolutely going to change my running routine from now on, from the routes I choose to my use of headphones. And that sucks.

Run Streak Day 36 [1/1]:
6.38 miles in 1:03:15. This was a great way to counteract yesterday, and a fantastic way to end the streak. It was somewhere below 30 degrees, but sunny. My legs felt good, I was able to finish without any walk breaks, and I ran faster than I could have imagined. There was a 5k option and this morning I was wondering if maybe I should have chosen that, but I am SO glad I didn't!!

I will fully admit that I came home and celebrated with Prosecco and cookies. But I was so good last night, this was my new years celebrations.

Now that the streak is over, I promise I will spend a little more time focusing on my food and less time boring you all with details on every single run. Bring it on, 2015!! I think this will be a very good year :)

That's awful about the creepy dude! I'm glad you are okay. Please stay away from that road.

That was a great race! To make that time after 35 days straight before the race is unreal!

I look forward to hearing about your runs.

Creepy people are a waste of oxygen... Sorry to hear he got to mess with your head but very happy he didn´t mess with anything else. 10k is a nice walk for me but running it? Never, ever, ever!

I look forward to hearing about your runs.

I think Q is referring to jogging, not the other kind of runs (heh heh heh, I'm a 12-year-old sometimes).

Can Dirk Strongbow (your fella) go talk to the guy? Maybe the guy was making an honest attempt at communication and in your panic you interpreted it as creepy? If nothing else, one flex of the Brock Carburetor's bicep should tell the guy that he is not to mess with the lady.

Oh Mr Oaks went out to find him, but we have no proof that he actually lives at that house so he wasn't going to knock on any doors. If he had still been out walking, that would have been a different story.

I've been around my fair share of creeps and weirdos, and wouldn't have blinked an eye if I had been running *towards* this stranger and he tried to get my attention. But chasing a female down the street is creepy.

Alright, back to work today which means back to my normal routine. After a week of having trouble sleeping I was pleasantly surprised to find myself in bed and asleep by 10:45 last night. I hit up the gym this morning but my legs were surprisingly tired. I took three days off runing but made sure I was still doing something :

Friday - 15 mins of yoga
Saturday - 3.8 mile walk
Sunday - 30 mins of yoga

I think the evening yoga left me sore for today. I managed to fight through 2.5 miles before calling it quits.

I'm currently trying to make a bit more of an effort to count my calories. There are some things I'm going to have to completely guess at, sure, but it's not going to take exact numbers for me to know when I'm going overboard. It's easy to estimate calories on chips and beer. During my worst eating and drinking day last week I estimated well over 4000 calories. That was a wake up call, especially considering I was just hanging out at home with no festivities to blame.

Running after anyone on the street and grabbing their shoulder is weird, most people just wouldn´t try it with guys. You never know whose reflexes are set to "black eye".

Calorie counting may sound boring but I think it´s really helpful!
