Congratulations! Yay for secret weapons of course, but mostly you´re just getting into healthier habits, which is awesome.

A >5 pound drop when you are already at a healthy weight is amazing!

Your post streak plan sounds great! I anticipate half marathons being and eventual goal once the weight is closer to where I should be. I'll have to hit you up for advice when that day comes.

As a reformed 20 cookie eater your plan just wouldn't work for me, but good for you on making that a reality.

LaMa you can get there! Trust me, I'm going to slip up... But as long as I'm not slipping up too often I'll be happy.

Q, I can't wait to see you start doing races! I've done so many, they're great. I'm always towards the back of the pack but for me that means I have more people waiting for me at the finish line than the fast people. I've done four half marathons.... Unfortunately my first one was my fastest but I'm hoping that 2015 will be my year to actually get better.

Run Streak Day 16 [12/12]:
1 mile on the treadmill after work, in just under 10 mins. It's Friday, and I went to the gym in my office building which resulted in me being surrounded in the locker room by girls getting ready for their company's holiday party. And because I only ran one mile, I had to deal with them both before and after. I hate locker rooms.

I ran a 5K back in March and it was fun. I was sloooow, but it was the first time the race had been done so it was small. It was a trail run which was new to me too. I got a really nice applause at the finish and this made me think I was dead last. I was feeling rather embarrassed about this when they started to applaud again. Turns out there were 11 more people to finish behind me. I think there were 60 something people total so not bad for a first race after just a couple months of running. My next race will likely be my wife's first 5K.

Good job getting your mile in!

ijustwanna, I can't get a 10 minute mile on the street but on a treadmill I can push myself.... But only for one single mile, haha, I was so done after that.

Being with people for their first races is awesome, Q. It's fun for me to watch people grow as runners, even if I'm not necessarily doing the same. Actually a co-worker who I helped get into racing just found out she'll be running the Boston marathon in April, which is a pretty big deal.

Thanks Oaks, you´re quite right and I should remind myself more often that if I hadn´t already changed quite a lot of stuff I´d be reaching 100kg by now! I still don´t think I´ll ever be a runner (although I really like to read about the things you people get up to) but now when I have to run for a green light or the train it´s actually fun instead of something that kills me so maybe change is afoot.

Great job on your streak! What surprises me when I go to the gym is the girls doing their make-up before starting their workout.

Run Streak Day 17 [12/13]:
6 miles, yay! Took 1:07. My mile splits were all over the place but I looked at my handy dandy elevation and pace charts and it made total sense.

Run Streak Day 18 [12/14]:
1 mile on the street, in 9:46. I decided to really push myself and was pleasantly surprised at that pace. Although to be fair there's a pretty decent hill I got to run down!

Well, I went to a friend's holiday party last night and was naughty. There were so many good treats! And drinks. Everyone made delicious stuff, except me. I bought pre-cut fruit (so it wasn't ALL bad!) It is rare for me to be out with my boyfriend and my friends at the same time...I'm mostly social right after work, so it was nice to spend time out and about with him. My plan for reducing my number of drinks last night was to nurse a can of beer for a couple of hours and keep holding it after it was empty. It definitely helped, no one hounded me about having an empty cup and I didn't have to fight peer pressure. I did have a few beverages, but nowhere near as many as I would have had a few weeks ago. Today's run went just fine!

Q, we really are halfway done, aren't we?!?! I had my doubts that I'd really stick it out, but I'm proving myself wrong every day. We're 18 days awesome, you and I.

Good thinking on nursing the beer can for ages & well done on the streak Oaks!
Oaks + Quercus = :Angel_anim: :Angel_anim: Go you!!

Wow! Way to round out the half! I've never run 6 miles. Great pace on that and the mile! You beat me by 7 seconds on that mile. I'll have to see what I can do about that. ;)

I dub the two of us are the Running Oaks (Quercus decurro).

Nice work!

*applauds and cheers* Doing great on all fronts, enjoy it and use that momentum for the holidays!

Good idea on the empty, glad you found a strategy! And really awesome on the running!

Back on the Spencer Abby - fun (and dumb) fact: my wife and I joined my sister and some of her friends for camping last summer (as well as a brew festival). One of the traditions is the very informal Beer Camp Champ competition, and the Spencer won.

Run Streak Day 19 [12/15]:
1 mile on the street, in 9:57. It felt 100 times harder than yesterday's. I'll be slowing it way up tomorrow.

I'm glad everyone liked my beer can strategy! I employed that strategy once before when drinking a Moscow mule. It came in a super cool copper mug, which meant no one knew I only had the one all night. If only it could always be that easy!

I'll post more later, but it's dinner time now :)

Q, I'm totally on board with Quercus decurro! Six miles is a good distance for me. I can enjoy a 10k race much more than a 5k (where I can't get rid of the internal pressure to be either sprinting or failing) or a half marathon (which is long, man...so stinking long).
