Try these for beverages:

They have a little screen between the cap and the bottle if you're mixing up protein or don't want ice blocking the opening, and they're dishwasher-friendly (as in, they fit nicely on the rack, top or bottom). I have a half-dozen or so, only had one lid break in the last 3 years. No leaks, no frills, not $25 like a certain brand name. Just gotta make sure the top's on tight.

Oops, it's been a few days.....that usually means there's not much good to report. I did get in two back to back runs (Sunday and Monday). But that's about the only proud moments I've had. I was doing good with yoga and tracking food for a little bit. Not always tracking ALL my food every day, but I was trying to at least input snacks and beverages. And then I had one bad evening at home and one late night out and now here I am, almost a week later. But it's all good, I'm still trucking along!

You've been stingy with the running details Oaks. What did you do Sunday and Monday? I just saw the yoga post while searching in vain for a run post. It's Yoga with Adriene that I use.

I need to start doing that again. We had discussed doing the 30 days of yoga, but we kept running instead. Which videos are you doing?

Ahh, Q, always a detail oriented man!

Yesterday's run was 4 miles in 45:42. Most of it was along a river, some of it was quite muddy. It was warm and sunny out.

Sunday's run was 3.3 miles in 45:53. All of that was on a trail in a local park. The time is quite skewed as I stopped multiple times to take pictures and look at the map, and had to slow down frequently due to trail conditions. I had thought the park was bigger, so I was a little disappointed.

I did the first few of Adriene's 30 day challenge videos, but haven't done any in a week or so. I might try to do one of her older (and longer) videos tonight.

Those sound nice. I bought myself some trailrunners during the holiday break. The game plan is to make a trail in our woods that would be a loop of known length and allow me some running variety and practice for running trails elsewhere. Do you have trail running shoes or do you just wear the same shoes for either? How necessary they are depends on the trail. Mine will have minimum clearing and maintenance with just forest floor as surface material. I have to figure out how to cross my creek as it is too big for a running leap and I don't want it to become a giant undertaking.

I very rarely run on any type of trail so I haven't invested in trail running shoes. Sunday's trail had a small amount of roots and whatnot, but the majority of it was just soft foresty floor. And I haven't found anything local that is much different than that. Guess that's to be expected when you live ten minutes from Boston, right? Your plans for the trail sound great! How wide is your creek? We had a tiny creek in our backyard growing up. Small enough for a non-running leap. My brothers used to catch crawdads by sticking their hands into the holes they dug. Not me, I'd just snatch them up from the bottom of the creek.

The stream bed is only a couple feet wide, but it has carved a wider channel that's probably 6 or 8 feet across at the narrowest. There is a pond upstream so it doesn't flow all the time, but when it does flow it occasionally flows very swiftly and gouges out the channel. There is a second creek that is normally flowing, but my property narrows to that creek so it's only a short section at the edge of the property. I will still try to catch critters given the opportunity. I could claim professional necessity, but I do it at home too. I have Sherman live traps (xmas present) for rodents out right now just to see what I can catch.

No creek here, just a pond at the moment that's flooded my backyard and hopefully not damaged the swingset.

Oaks, there is some decent hiking out Worcester way - you're probably not too interested right now, but Wachusett Mountain has a few challenging climbs with a great view at the top. Probably not great for running, unless you're doing those X-Treeeeeem Spartan Pagan Mud Run things.

Sorry to spam your diary Oaks, but my mom loves to go "fishing" in out pond in summer. Last year we had a Canadian cousin over who´s a biologist and the two of them spent an entire day wading, netting and naming miniature wildlife :D

LJ, I've been meaning to hit up Wachusett but I'll be honest.... that's just as much for the brewery as it is for the hiking, haha. One of New Year's Resolutions was to hike at least one new mountain this year, so maybe Wachusett will be the one!

If I wanted to get into trail running I'd probably head to the Blue Hills Reservation, which is really close. That's 7000 acres with a max elevation of 635 feet.

In eating news, I'm trying hard to avoid the tub of peanut butter cups that are on my desk.... I got the most intense craving for them yesterday. I managed to settle on a chocolate 'pudding' thing I happened to have stored in the office fridge. It was intended to be a smoothie but I thickened it up. It's a bit of avocado, Greek yogurt, soy milk, cocoa, maple syrup, chia seeds, and rolled oats. It was thick and yummy.

In non-eating news, I've got a cold and I'm mad at my uvula. I'm not sure what a normal uvula looks like, but I think mine hangs freakishly low on a good day. On a bad day it rests on the back of my tongue and makes me feel as though there is something stuck in my throat constantly. Except it's not a food item. It's a body part. I'm trying to swallow my own uvula.

Great, you managed to make me crave pudding now, haha. Which is weird, I haven't been a big fan of pudding since I was little. Though I would go with the vanilla kind.
That must be an awfully weird feeling to have your uvula sitting on your tongue!!

Are you sure it´s your uvula? When stressed some people get this "globulus" feeling in their throat which is highly annoying but apparently harmless. For me it goes away when things calm down.

Oaks, I have the exact same problem. I'm so used to it now I hardly notice it, until I get a hayfever attack and it swells a bit and gets really red and irritated... then I just keep swallowing constantly, and it gets worse.

Hope you feel better!!

Do the mountain and then the brewery! I've never been to the latter, but I've heard it's worth a checking out.

My college roommate used to be able to pull his uvula out past his lips. It was disgusting. Now he's a college professor.

Mystic, please forgive me!! I can't say I eat a lot of pudding either... My mom used to make it a lot when I was growing up but now I always want something with more texture.

LaMa, it's definitely the uvula. I can see it just laying there, being obnoxious. I've never heard of that globulous feeling, that's so weird! My body settles for panic attacks and digestive issues when stressed.

Lucy, so it's not just me, good!! I had strep throat one too many times when I was a kid and it just never recovered. It normally doesn't bother me either, just every now and then.

LJ.... That's a gross party trick. ::shudder::

I have that happen too. I end up kind of sucking it against the back of my tongue and that kind of hurts/feels good and then I can't stop messing with it. The worst that it has gotten it made a clunking sound when I breathed in and made it hard to breathe. Get well soon!

Q you get it much worse than I do!

I'm just being a baby with this cold. My throat feels much better today, but I've been sneezing and blowing my nose non-stop. I was in bed by 8:30 last night, and I stayed there until 6:30 this morning. Yay for no responsibilities in life!

Do you guys ever try something new and then get excited when you don't like it? I tried a dried kiwi today and it tasted like dirt. And I've wanted to try a dried kiwi for a long time now, but I avoid any dried fruit with added sugar (I get enough sugar from my candy, thank you very much). Today I gave in, and I'm glad because now I can quit thinking about them.

I'm currently in my blanket fort against temptation while G showers. It always sounds so silly to write about, but that really is my most consistent trigger point at home. Our typical routine is that G-Dizzle has dinner ready when I get home, so I do the dishes while he jumps in the shower. The quicker I do the dishes, the more time for eating. And while I realize there are better things I can do to occupy my time, being in my blanket fort and ignoring the dishes (and subsequently the kitchen) is what I'm choosing for today.
