The Chronicles of BarbieZ ;-)

I missed my workout today (but can make it up Saturday when Rob is at work), but exhausted myself Xmas shopping. I had fun though! :D (And got a LOT done!)

I made sure to have plenty to drink with me, plus I stopped at Starbucks mid afternoon for black half decaf to help me make it through the rest of my shopping. I had to stop in at the restroom of just about every store I went to!

Anyway, I wasn't tempted by fast food or anything, but I was sure hungry when I got home. I had 3 pieces of chocolate Xmas candy and a sugarless hot chocolate for desert (I missed breakfast & had no afternoon snack, so I had *room* for it).

Ahhhhhh....

I got to relax in front of the computer and post in a few diaries tonight because hubby was out Xmas shopping. The change of pace for today has been nice. It's been a very satisfying day.

(I guess they usually are when you wake up and find out you've lost 2 more pounds!)

Hey sweetie! Just dropping in before I go to bed! Congrats on your two lbs.. That is awesome! You must be so excited!! Keep up the good work!!

Yeehaw - lost another pound and FINALLY got to change my ticker!

By the way, this past week, I purchased a small bottle of 5-htp to try after I did a search on it and found out what it could help me with. I'm having tremendous luck with it!

5-htp helps with:

-appetite reduction / carbohydrate cravings reduction / want & eat less
-lessen anxiety / calming, relaxing
-lifts depression
-lessen insomnia / deeper, more restful sleep

Hello Barbie! I just read your post about the 5-htp. I've been using that stuff for years so that I can get a good nights sleep. I never thought of using it during the day for appetite suppression. I'll have to give that a try.

Does it make you tired or sleepy during the day? I always assumed it would. Let me know, I'm curious.

Keep up the great work with your weight loss. Go girl!

Hey Sweetie just found your little butt on page 2 so I had to bring you back to page 1. I hope you have a good day today Hun.

Hey JellyBean!

NO, it doesn't make me tired and sleepy at ALL. It just takes the edge off hunger, carb cravings, and the obsessive thoughts I get when I'm hungry.

For example, I last ate FIVE hours ago (a big salad with a small can of tuna on it), and I have NOT been bothered at ALL by hunger, cravings, thoughts, etc. I've just been going about my business, and I SWEAR - I HAVEN'T EVEN THOUGHT OF EATING. Now THAT's a GIFT!

I took a 5-htp a half hour before eating, then when 3 pm rolled around, I took another one, knowing that the snackies were going to hit soon if I didn't. Sometimes, if my dinner is light, I take one at 9 or 9:30 at night for the same reason. Wallah! I've never had something work this good.

I hope it works for you too!

Hey thanks, Julie! Nice to see you back.

I hope you're getting some stress breaks!

I'm doing well this week - yey!

Yesterday, I had a funky day. I felt like I was running uphill all day long, crashing into walls. I didn't have a *bad* day, but things weren't going or feeling like smooth sailing. I had to make two Xmas gifts that ended up being a bit challenging, and I was fumble fingers ALL DAY.

Even though I was feeling crappy most of the day, I did A-OK eating. THANKS 5-htp! I would have crashed and burned before. AND I got the gifts done - one works the way it's supposed to (colloidal silver generator for my Mom - don't ask!), and the other one turned out pretty (a tropical wall hanging for my sister's new house/bedroom). SHEW! :p

Today, I turned down a movie invite from Rob (King Kong - I adored the old one when I was teeny) because I just KNOW I'm having popcorn. I've slated my weekends as the time when I let loose the reins a bit, so I suggested we go on Sunday afternoon. That way, I'll have 5 great days of exercise, good eating, and weight loss this week. So instead, we're going to hit the club tonight for raquetball. We've never played before, so I hope it's fun.

Saturday night is Rob's company Xmas party, so I assume the eating/drinking thing will be at an all time high for the evening. So I'll eat very lightly during the day to help *save up*. I don't intend to undo all the great work I did this week, but DO intend to have fun. :D

12/17/05 First 10 pounds reached!

I got to change my ticker, na na na na na na!

As of today, I am 1/4 the way to my goal. :D

It's a good weekend to celebrate!

One more thing...

Rob and I played our first game of racquetball last night. Oh my gosh... my face was beet red after 45 minutes. What a workout! The time goes by much faster than doing a machine, coz I was having fun (we totally SUCK at it, but both of us really had a good time).

The only downside is that I had a lot of trouble sleeping (did I rev up too high too close to bed?) and my back is killing me today. My poor body is just not used to all I'm putting it through lately. Oh well, this too shall pass.

At least we finally tried it, and found another form of fun exercise to throw in the mix (to keep from boredom). :D

Off to get some ibuprofen and another cup of hot steamin' coffee....

Barbie, I thought I'd pop in your journal now!
I will tell you from my experience if I do too much exertion close to my bed time, I will get "revved" up with energy and have a hard time falling asleep. That's why I avoid any late late evening running. Typically I do it in the mornings to get me roaring for the day. (Unfortunately its TOO dark for that now!)

Racquet ball sounds like a blast though!! :) Stretching afterwards might really help the soreness later. At least thats been my experience.
Hope you get a chance to experience the game again.. I've never played myself but sounds like fun! Have a great weekend..

Hey Sweetie! Congratulations on reaching your first goal!! That is wonderful news.. and I'm sure you will have no problem reaching your second goal!!!

Congrats sweetie you are doing truly amazing. Keep it up and Christina is right you will be at your next goal in no time. Hope you had a good weekend and even a better day today.

You can count on that! :D :D

12/19/05

I had a good weekend full of wonderful activities plus great food and drink that wasn't so healthy on Sunday, but hey, I DO take weekends off the strict dieting regime.

Did real well with eating on Saturday, but definitely had a lot to drink in the evening at hubby's company Xmas party. I did get to dance at least some of it off! :p

On Sunday, breakfast wasn't too horrible, but then had popcorn at the movies (King Kong - great flick!), and later on for dinner, popcorn shrimp and beer.

So... I'm back *on the wagon* today, keeping it very strict today to undo any damage done on the weekend. I got my hour of exercise in, too.

I'm not weighing myself for a few days as I'm bloaty and crampy (you know what that means!), but I do expect to let loose some more weight by Chrismas Eve.

I should have listened to myself and stayed OFF the scale while I'm retaining water during this time of the month -- UGH!!!

Oh well, I guess I got some extra motivation to continue with the strictness I put myself on yesterday...

:p
