The big oak (Quercus) needs to drop some dead limbs!

Past tense for sure Brawny! I'm doing my best Don.

Came in a couple hundred under and worked 11 hours. I'll be in the field at dawn tomorrow. YIPPEE!<<<<sarcasm!!!

I bought a book Saturday night that I finished Sunday. I highly recommend "Heft On Wheels" by Mike Magnuson. It is his personal story of transforming himself from a drunk, smoker, and fatty into a slender competitive cyclist. He didn't do everything the "right" way, but he did it. It is an inspiring story, remarkably human, and pretty funny to boot. I intend to reread it soon.

Hey, that's great - I love stories like this!
I watched "fat sick an nearly dead" on netflix - it was inspirational and got me into juicing.

I m glad you are back on track! :)
Hope you are doing ok with this week's work challenges!

Your story reminds me of a quote I always hold close to my heart "You can't start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading the last one" Just start your new chapter Quercus and give it all you got!

Hey Q, catching up on the last few pages. Looks like you're doing a helluva job - wouldn't worry about the spike in weight, it could be any variety of things - too much water in your metabolism (i.e. too much salt the night before), you need a good morning poop, the scale is being particular... Do you have a body fat gauge? They can be had fairly cheap on Amazon, and it's another gauge. Same with measuring a couple of different circumferences - stomach, chest, neck.

Anyway, don't let the bad days bring you down. Find another outlet for your frustration than food - and let me know what it is, cuz I'm still looking for that one!!!

I'm doing my best Don.

My wife has a couple of sayings, both of which either inspire me or piss me off, depending on the circumstances:

"We all have only one cup, and it holds only so much."

and

"It's a process, not an event."

Personally, i think you're doing fine under the circumstances. The scales will tip when the stars align; you're doing your part.

Hi everybody! So much awesome support. It really makes a big difference.

I'm to the physical stress now which is much easier to cope with. I'm super exhausted from the 12 hours in the field today, but I managed a quick bike ride on the fixie with the last of the daylight.

It's going to be a very tough project, but I was really stressing about subcontracting for another firm as I never done that before. Now that we've met and slogged through the mud I really like them. The project is a nightmare, but the people seem great.

Thanks again for all of the support! I expect a good weigh in this Friday, but we'll see. I expect to fall asleep during my meditation tonight.

I'm new and have just read the last couple pages of your thread. Don't let mis-steps get you down! It's an ever continuing process and you can do it.

At least the people are great, so you will pull through the project. I'm sure you gonna have a killer weigh in on Friday. You are doing fab! Tx for the rep by the way.

I have been lazy.

I have been gluttonous.

I have been a drunk.

I have been a sloth.

Most of us have notched up a reasonable collection of these... I think that it is called being human.

In fact things like envy and pride tend to crop up at times for many people...

Hey a moment or two of lust never harms every so often...

Forgive yourself right here and right now for any perceived failings...
If you want to get religious momentarily - Christ taught forgiveness - not retribution.
Forgiveness is the key.
Don't think of it as a penance - more as being a solution to a problem that has arisen.

Hey check you out!! biking after exhausting day in the field! Hats off to you!!! You defo deserve an amazing weigh in day on Friday!

I didn't know that you meditate - how does that help with the weight-loss? I'm just curious, I've always wanted to give it a go, but the couple times I tried I just fell asleep.

LOL meditation helps this week because it earns challenge points and Quercus is a member of GOLD - the team that will win the challenge. We are all meditating for 10 minutes each day because we like to get as many challenge points as there are available.

Hope you are staying dry today...mighty wet and sloppy in my part of Texas today.
Maybe its sunny where you are

"The sun has riz...The sun has set...and we aint outta Texas yet!"

I've been in sleet and rain twice already Brawny. I'm sitting in the truck waiting for this one to blow over.

Brawny I am meditating for the contest, but I've done it in the past. It helps when your stressed or anxious. I suppose it might help with stress eating and cortisol levels.

Justina, it wasn't much of a bike ride but thanks!

I ate a couple hundred calories over today, but working all day outside in cold, wet, and windy conditions slogging through the mud burned a lot of calories and I was genuinely hungry. I intend to weigh in the morning. I've eaten a lot of jerky this week so the sodium will be a factor, but hopefully the weight has dropped some.

But if not, you KNOW that this week has been good for you from the muscle development and conditioning standpoint, right?

Out of curiosity, do you own a smoker? Like a Big Chief or something similar? I have a nice propane smoker that allows me to control temps accurately down to 190 degrees that I use for LOADS of stuff... like making my own jerky. It would allow you to control the sodium in your jerky that way...

I don't because I can't eat very much smoked meat because it bothers my asthma. Also I often spend my per diem at the gas station and beef jerky and nuts are the best options at a gas station. So sodium and more sodium, but I don't have hypertension and it only effects my weight in the short term.

I have made venison jerky in my oven and I've played around with the idea of getting a dehydrator. Maybe one day.

327.4 this morning

Not even close to what I'd hoped, but it's down from 329 the last time I weighed and I'll take it. I'll be jerky free and drinking loads of water today.

Hey how did you work outside today? It was nasty here!!! Storms left and right!! It's raining non-stop.
Hope you keep warm & waterproof!

Good luck with the weigh in tomorrow!
