The big oak (Quercus) needs to drop some dead limbs!

Hey you, seems like you are having good days roaming nature!!!
Eating is ok if your work it off - and you do just that! :)
You are working all weekend?

7 days a week until the project is done. We are making less than a mile a day and the project is 77 miles long. Every mile takes several miles of walking as I'm surveying a minimum 100 foot corridor for wetlands, streams, threatened and endangered species, and I have to dig holes in each vegetation community. There is one other group working, but it's still going to take forever. :(

wow...you gonna be so proud of yourself when you are done!!! Hang in there!!!
It sounds hard but it will pay off!!

What are you surveying for? Not weight related....but I'm curious.
It's for a pipeline. Most of the work I do is for oil and gas. it's sad that someone that cares about the environment has to make a living helping others legally destroy it. I rationalize it by saying that I keep companies in compliance with the environmental regulations. The problem is that the laws are too lax and there are too many loopholes. My hope is that it will change. There have been a few changes in the right direction in the last few years.

It can be very difficult, if not impossible, to align idealism with practicality and the way in which the world really works. As an engineer, I struggle with the same things.

I've done everything from scrubbing toilets to synthesizing DNA for NASA. Every job has negatives and trade offs. I hate being stuck in a lab or office and I hate being micromanaged. I love being outdoors.

This project sucks, but I get to be outside and I haven't talked to my boss since the project started last Monday. I get paid to be outdoors which makes it the best job I've had. I get to do field biology which is my passion. It could be much worse.

Hang in there, Q! That's really tough, getting saddled with a 7 day per week ass-bustin' job while you're also trying to lasso your eating issues. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. the rest will work itself out.

Thanks Don!

328.0 yesterday and 326.4 today. I don't know how much of this is recovery from last weekend in Austin as I haven't weighed until yesterday. Hopefully the downward trend continues with my eating as is. If not I'll have to try and reign in the calories. i might need a higher limit while in the field, but lower than what I am eating. Back to the swamp!

Good that your weight is going down again. I hope you get good weather today - we have pretty good forecast for next weekend - up in the 60s. Cant wait! Enjoy the outdoors!!

PS/ Most jobs are full of compromises..C'est la vie!

Down is DOWN!! Right on, Q.

I've been worried about you and your outdoor schedule away from healthy foods, but it sounds like you're balancing it out with hard workouts. Keep it up, man.

Thanks everybody and Howdy Honey Bean!

HoneyBean reminds me of Prosopis glandulosa the honey mesquite. The bean tastes like honey and is high in protein. Wildlife loves it and native Americans lived on it.

I really appreciate all of the support here. Today was cold in the field, but the work was a bit easier.

If you are on instagram I am WetlandJeff and I usually post a couple pics from the field when time allows. If you follow me let me know who it is.

I can't do instagram w/o i/smartphone. Oh well.

I never heard of Prosopis glandulosa.. sounds interesting!

I hope you have a great weekend! (not too much work)

A horse. It was in the same pasture as the donkeys The donkeys were scared of me, but the horse was friendly.

Well at least the horses and donkeys have the ability to write letters to the editor for the local papers.
