Thanks everybody! I didn't weigh myself today. I've had a pretty productive day. I spent most of it with the chainsaw. i finally got the big dead pine safely on the ground and I cut down four others. Two small and two around 100 feet tall. I still haven't gotten around to cuttin g dead trees for firewood as all of these were pine. All of the dead ones that could potentially hit the house, carport or me where I generally walk through the woods are gone. That means next time I'll be bringing back firewood.
I also installed an ice maker today which was more hassle than I expected. I just finished hunting for my supper, but I came up empty handed. I saw a couple armadillos and heard a raccoon, but no rabbits which is what I was hoping to have for dinner. I always enjoy being out in the woods whether I'm hunting or not, but a frozen turkey burger patty is a poor substitute for fresh wild rabbit.
In case anyone is curious:
You could eat an armadillo. during the great depression they called them "Hover hogs" and people still eat them in mexico as well as Central and South America. The also eat them occasionally in south Texas, but this is mostly by people of Mexican descent. I'd try it as I enjoy trying all sorts of food, but they are the only non-humans to carry leprocy, and even if the chance is slight of contracting it, I won't take the chance.
I've eaten raccoon once and properly prepared they are edible, but I'd rather have the turkey burger.
