The big oak (Quercus) needs to drop some dead limbs!

the more muscle you have the more calories you will burn!

Exactly. That's why I'm incorporating the belly measurements to keep me motivated even when the weight stalls of jumps up. I intend to start powerlifting regularly again at some point, but my focus is cardio and weightloss for now. I likely get back under the bar when the stationary bike has me super bored.

I realize my dependence on caffeine is too strong. I haven't had any since lunch and I'm already dragging.

Alright I'm a goober! I decided to cheat on my food and not exercise for my final day before the contest. First I had a coffee and then I had chips and dip and licorice after diner. Straight and narrow starting in the morning. Good Night!

Holy cheat meal batman. 345.0 this morning!

Day one of the contest.

Goals:

Lose 45.8 pounds in 10 weeks. (~13% bw)

No alcohol for the duration of the challenge.

Some level of exercise each day of the contest.

2,450 calories per day max. Any day over will be made up for.

Yesterday's cheat meal is already accounted for by the amounts under earlier in the week. The big jump up is due mostly to the fact that I ate a lot of salt and all the extra food was still in my body this AM. It will drop like a rock in the next few days.

The 299.2 pound goal is the 50 lb mark from my SW and the goal for me to get my new bike.

Good luck getting off to a flying start. I'll drink for the both of us (well I was probably gonna do that anyway).

Walked 40 minutes at lunch as it is spring like today.

Now I can bike 20 minutes tonight and have my exercise points for today. Thanks for all the support and encouragement.

2,291 calories today

I will be biking later tonight as well as romping around in my woods in the dark. I got a game camera for Xmas and I am going to swap the card tonight. I'll be packing a light and my revolver in the hopes of spotting a hog. It's legal to spotlight for feral hogs as they are non-native pests. Yummy pests!

20 minutes on the spin bike and my hour is complete for the day. An hour a day is going to kick my ass.

I'm rather hungry now as well, but I'm drinking water and trying to get my new RaspberryPi configured. That's a Debian Linux based ARM processor micro computer that is the size of a deck of cards and 1080p compatible that cost $35.

I also went and swapped the card in my game camera. Nothing but raccoon pics and one of the neighbor's dog. I heard the raccoons in the woods on the walk in. My headlamp started to flicker while I was out there. I need to be sure to carry a spare light as there are clouds and no moon so crossing two creeks and a lot of downed trees in the pitch black would have sucked.

Here are some pics from this week and last. the black and white are infrared shots at night and the 1 color is daytime. Not very god quality or particularly interesting.

Well done for getting the exercise done and having a good challenge day. I could not ask you to do more than get max points and eat healthily.

Ten weeks will be tough - but it will bring excellent results.

Have a good Saturday.

Hey Quercus!

You are doing so well!!! Great workout! yay!!!!
Drinking water totally helps sometime when feeling hungry.
Cool pictures - thanks for sharing!

LOL to be honest - most people find that they feel like they are swimming in water (and forever running to the toilet) if they try to drink 1 ounce per pound of weight... It calculates out to be so much more than the 6 or 8 glasses that people hear about in general life... Of course those quantities of water are fine for skinny little women but really do not come close for the larger person...

LOL the water will certainly suppress some of those potential feelings of hunger.

342.8 this morning

-2.2 for the contest

Omega, thanks for the support and keep pushing me. It's just what I need.

Justina, thanks and the water helped some. I was sitting here thinking that I wouldn't be able to fall asleep because I felt so hungry. I was so wrong. I slept super well last night. I'm not feeling hungry this morning. I woke up and started getting things done around the house (abnormal). It's nearly 11AM here and all I've had is water.

I'm certainly happy to be down a couple of pounds, but I can tell you the weight will be dropping fast still as I am retaining water at least in my legs. My socks were very tightly constricted when I took them off last night and they are still quite tight this morning. Bad shoes for the walk on the concrete trail yesterday as my feet are sore and my shins hurt. I walk a lot for work, but in hiking boots in the woods. Slip-on shoes on concrete is way tougher on the legs.

I can't wait for fieldwork to pick back up as I've been in the office all this month. The entire reason for getting into wetland science was to work outdoors, but this month I've been report writing and surfing the net.

Next weekend I'll be camping out for a primitive skills workshop that a coworker's husband is hosting. It should be interesting, but camping out in the cold will be rough.

If you are retaining water it is normally a sign that you need to drink more water.

Your weight is 345. Are you drinking 173 ounces of water a day? If not - try to do so. I promise you that it does make a difference. I know that it is a lot of water.

You could get some compression socks. Though they are expensive (at least 50 bucks) if they're any good, so I wouldn't really recommend it unless you don't care about the expense. They pull right up to the knee and make sure you don't have circulation problems at the sock line. Even a cheapish pair might be better than nothing.

30 minutes stationary bike

That was the worst time I've ever had on that bike. I haven't eaten since about 6:30 last night and it's 12:35 now. Fasted cardio sucks! Time to eat.

Hey Mr.Vee. I'm sure it's temporary from the pounding my legs took on the walk. The shoes I had one were casual dress with little padding.

I actually have a little bit of a problem because of my weight with circulation in my lower legs, so I have to wear the socks. If I wear regular socks, I get a bottleneck of swelling at the sock line, not good. Doc says it should recede as the weight goes, and it already has improved quite a bit. This goes doubly so for when I exercise. If I try and workout without them, my lower legs get really sore really quickly.

Hopefully it isn't a common issue for me, but I know what to do if it does.

I got my other half hour of exercise in. It was a sitting peddler because I got back late and my butt hurts from the earlier peddling. Not very pressing, but it helps and it counts.

I'm well under on calories for today.
