The big oak (Quercus) needs to drop some dead limbs!

1 hour spin bike.

That was freaking tough.

2,177 calories for the day

The good: I successfully front loaded my calories today and did a straight hour on the bike.

The bad: First I ate a larger than usual breakfast and a snack. Then I ate the lunch I wanted without checking the calories first and ate all but 273 calories for the day.

Fortunately, I'm not hungry so I'll just skip dinner and do better tomorrow. Shrinking pains.

338.8 this morning -10.4 and -6.2 for the contest

I was lower than this for a short while before the holidays, but I was fatter then. My belly measurement is lower and I'm wearing pants I couldn't button then. A strong indicator that the scale isn't the ultimate authority. I also feel better than I have in a long time. I also feel terrible in that I can't stand from a seated position right now without pushing down on my knees with my arms. An hour straight on the bike is a lot different than a half hour. I will make an hour easy to complete. Considering I have gone from barely completing 20 minutes to going a full hour over 5 days, it shouldn't be too hard.

Quercus - sounds like a lot of really positive steps. Yay for smaller jeans and nose breathing!! Use the stuff you still don't like (ie difficulties getting up) as the motivation for the next stage - keep at it and it'll change! Really looking forward to reading about your future success...

Omega, my wife had some medical issues this past year and was necessarily sedentary for a large part of the year. Now she is feeling better and doing more. She has decided to get a bike along with me once she decides on a goal. That will make it a lot easier. She isn't as overweight as I am, but she is in worse physical shape. That's due mostly in differences in our jobs and her illness. The good news is that she is healthy now and ready for a change. I'll take some credit for that. ;)

It is brilliant that your wife is healthy and motivated to improve her fitness level. I spent years hoping that Rod would do the same... I'm sure that you will both find cycling together to be fun and beneficial.

Well done Quercus!!6.2 for the competition! You are rocking it!

Better to eat big breakfast & small dinner (none) than the other way round - from a weigh in in the morning point of view!

Look at that weight go! You'll catch me in no time.

I also feel terrible in that I can't stand from a seated position right now without pushing down on my knees with my arms.
I just tried that and did it successfully, though the sound my right knee made *POP!* was unsettling.

jjjay and MrVee: I don't think what I wrote about my standing woes was very clear. It's just the soreness from the bike ride that is making me have trouble standing. The rice crispy sound(s) goes without saying.

That being said, thanks for stopping in jjjay, it's nice to have a new visitor.

Justina, I'm just trying to catch up to your weighloss. Great work!

Thanks to everybody for the continued support! All of you make this place great!

Actually you are doing better! I lost 7 lbs since I started a week ago, that means 5 lbs for the competition.
Go you!

2,355 cals today and a straight hour on the spin bike. How was it harder tonight than last night?

Maybe you were more tired than the night before?
You are doing awesome though!! 1 hour on the spin bike! Go you!
You gonna do really well on the weigh in tomorrow!

Thanks Justina and Jen!

My weight was 340.4 this morning. I'm frustrated with this yoyoing as I'm doing EVERYTHING right. I may just weigh on Fridays for the competition. I spent the morning in the field which was nice. A few hours in the woods really worked the soreness out of my legs.

YoYoing is normal if your weighing everyday, but scale addiction can be hard to break.

If I can stop overeating, stop drinking, and exercise an hour a day; then I can not step on a scale in the mornings. -4.6 pounds in 6 days is nothing to whine about. I need to toughen up a bit. I believe a heavy deadlifting session is in order.
