Height: 6' 3"

Hips: ?
Thighs: ?
Shirt/dress size: Varies depending on the fit, but a mix between L and M

Pants size: 32"
Highest recorded weight: 130kg in early December, didn't hop onto the scales again until mid March after I started making changes in January
Goal weight: 80kg, increasing to anywhere in the mid/high 80's once I start doing more strength training and weight lifting

Day 02 - How tall are you? Do you like your height?

I'm 6' 3" and a half, edging closer to 6' 4". I used to be really insecure my height when I was obese, as I obviously stuck out like a sore thumb because of my size, but now that I'm thinner I'm starting to view it as more of an asset.

Day 03 - A picture of your fitspiration. What features do you like about this person?

Okay, typical 'blokey' answer, a footballer, Josh McEachran.

He's about the same age as me, and he's bloody fit, no other reasons apart from them.

Day 04 - Your greatest fears about weight loss.

I don't have any fears about it any more, but six months ago was a completely different story!

I absolutely hated being obese and I was desperate to get healthy, I'd never attempted to lose weight before so I didn't have a heck of a lot of knowledge to guide me, so naturally my biggest fear was that it wouldn't happen at all.

Thankfully it did.

Day 05 - Why do you really want to lose this weight? Are you doing it for you?

Absolutely, it's all about self confidence really.

After years of feeling like a clumsy obese giant, I just want to feel inconspicuous and normal in public.

Day 06 - Do you binge? If so, explain why you think you do.

Not any more, thankfully.

Day 07 - Do your friends and family know you’re trying to lose weight? Do they support you?

Yes, and yes.

Day 08 - Your workout routine.

30 minutes or so of running/jogging, four times a week, along with some basic strength training.

Day 09 - Did people ever make comments about your weight in a negative way?

Yes.

Day 10 - What was the hardest thing you gave up during your weight loss journey?

This is a tough one, as I can honestly say after nearly a year that I don't miss any of my old favourites.

Initially though, ditching the massive fast food dinners I quite often had was a big challenge.

Day 11 - Your favorite fitspo blog and why?

Don't have one.

Day 28 - Have you had any setbacks you’ve had to overcome? How did you do it?
Day 29 - Your definition of beauty.
Day 30 - 10 facts about you! And now, what are your stats?

My first 'official' weigh in for a fortnight.

Day 12 - What food plan do you normally follow each day?

I've been aiming for 1500 kcal for the past few months, breakfast is about the only meal that has stayed consistent throughout that period (4 x weet bix, 250 ml light milk).

Lunches chop and change quite a bit, but I usually have vegetable sandwiches or tuna, the occasional yoghurt and a bit of fruit.

I often have pasta for dinner, but I try to have red meat once a week and chicken at least once a week.

Okay, I've been having minor back pain for several months, which has increased in severity rapidly over the past week. The sudden change was enough to convince me I needed to get it checked out at the doctors, so today was my first trip to a GP since 2008!

So, long story short, he's sending me off for x-rays and I had blood tests done today, so hopefully by the end of next week we'll know what the problem is. He said it could be a multitude of things, but he wanted to rule out anything serious with tests.

I'll let you all know how it goes, needless to say, I'm F'n nervous!

Day 13 - Are you losing weight in a healthy or unhealthy way?

Tough question, I'm no nutritional expert but I've tried to do as much research as possible to ensure I'm going about my weight loss in a relatively healthy manner.

I lost roughly 8 kilos in the first three months without any calorie counting and without weighing in at all during that time period, but I've been aiming for a set calorie limit since late March. For the first three months or so it was 1800, and its been 1500 for the past few months.

The speed of the weight loss has concerned me a bit, most sources quote 1 kilo a week as the maximum for safe weight loss and I've had several weeks where I've lost 1.5 kilos. In the 29 weeks that I've been weighing in weekly I've lost 36.8 kilos, which obviously averages out to more than 1 kilo a week, so I hope that doesn't fall into the category of 'too fast'.

Can I say that my current diet (not diet as in 'a diet', this is a lifestyle change!) is meeting all of my nutritional needs? Heck no, but it's all about a journey and progressing from the crap I used to eat regularly. Once I've hit goal I'll be shifting my focus towards having a healthier diet, including more fruit and veg and less carbs (I eat a TON of wholegrain bread, well not a ton, but usually between 5-8 slices a day! Still, better than the simple carbs I used to load up on, white bread used to be a staple)

Day 14 - What is your ultimate goal weight/look?

I don't have an ultimate goal weight, but 80 is my temporary one. After that it's moving onto strength training to gain a bit of muscle mass, and then stopping when I feel comfortable with the way I look (not keen on the really ripped look myself, so I can't envisage gaining much more than 5 kilos), so I should be settled and content in the mid 80's by the middle of next year.

Day 15 - Are you vegan or vegetarian? If so, has this helped you lose weight? If not, would you ever consider turning vegan or vegetarian?

No, and no again.

Day 16 - When did you first decide to lose weight?

Jan 2011

Day 17 - What is your favourite treat meal?

I don't have 'treat' meals.

Day 18 - What food is your weakness?

Hard to single out one, but cheese would be a big one!

Today's 461 calorie lunch, a chicken burger with a wholegrain bun, three lettuce leaves, half a tomato, and 15 mls of honey & mustard dressing.

Only took 10 minutes to prepare, nice and easy :)

Nice work hitting 84kg. and big congrats on losing 100 lb! :D

You've done so well losing the weight really good job mate

Thanks DMR :)

Day 19 - When is your favourite body part to work on? Why?

Don't have one.

Day 20 - What is your favourite form of cardio?

Running, without a doubt, just wish I had more stamina!

Day 21 - What is your favourite resource for healthy living info?

This forum has been really great.

Wasn't expecting a .8 loss in 5 days, I haven't done much cardio this week.

Very pleased!

Day 22 - Quick! What are the 5 things you like best about yourself?

Hmm, tough.

1. Eyes

2. Height

3. My newly defined cheeks and jawline...

4. ummm

5. I'm stumped!

Day 23 - Did the media play a role in your wanting to lose weight?

Nope.

It's been a bit of a dodgy week, haven't done much cardio and my sleeping pattern has been a bit out of sync.

Still managed to keep my intake on track though, so I've still managed to lose.

Aseriously man amazing job:hurray::hurray::hurray::hurray:... you are one of the people here that keep me going, and really prove that it can be done.

Thanks man, anything is possible with a bit of determination.

Day 24 - When did you first notice your hard work paying off?

When my old 42 inch pants became really baggy, and eventually no longer fit.

Day 25- When you reach your goals, what do you plan on doing to maintain your results?

I plan to bump up my calorie intake to 2000 a day initially, I'll still be weighing in every week to make sure my weight remains more or less static. I'll be continuing to do moderate cardio 5 days a week, and I'll be doing a lot more strength training at the start of next year.

Day 26 - What excites you most about reaching your goals?

My goal weight has changed a few times, at first it was 88, then it was 85, but I eventually settled on 80. Every kilo lost has been one closer to goal, so that's been my motivation. Wouldn't really call it exciting though.
