Sparrows Experiment

Katie, you'll get a report from the cardiologist sent directly to your GP in a few days. Those techs are sharp; if there was something going on, you would have picked it up from his/her body language. The fact that you didn't suggests to me that there wasn't anything abnormal which, of course, would be very good news.

yeah I watched her close. she actually looked bored. lol. The abdominal ultrasound tech though looked concerned, so I have been glad with each day I haven't gotten a phone call about it.

Today I did NROL Fat Loss 3 workout A by myself. sniff. It was a good cardio workout all by itself. I love fat loss 3, its fun. Then I went to spin class for an hour. I had a bike that was ultra sensitive to resistance. I hate those kinds of bikes. You turn the knob like half an inch and boom, you're on a heavy hill. SO anyway, that was a little irritating but I had a good workout, for sure. Then I got in the pool intending to do about 2500 but I did 1000 and just felt dead tired so I got out.

Heh I was wondering how NROL was going, and if you'd chosen to do Fat Loss III. It's an ass kicker of a workout, but you'll definitely make progress.

Did an hour on the eliptical because my swim class was canceled due to weather. They were afraid lawn furniture would blow into the pool and smack someone on the head. lol. For some reason that struck me as funny :D
anyway, the eliptical is agonizingly boring. I only switched it up by going forward for 5 minutes, backwards fro 5 minutes. Sometimes I squat down as I go backwards in intervals to work my quads, but my legs were a little wiped out anyway so I just chilled with the slow pace. My heart rate never went above 120 so I guess it was a good fat burn.

seriously huh? I HATE the eliptical. It feels like you can't change it up at all. treadmill is so much better. at least you can change the incline and stuff :]

It sounds like you did steady state... If that's true I can totally see how you'd get bored. I tend to do intervals at least to keep focused on what I'm doing.

Long run today was 8 miles. Ran it without a hitch and I was excited about that. I had to do it on the tread though due to children in tow. Put it at 1% incline to mimic the road and then ran:
10 min 6.0
5 min 6.5
5 min 6.0
5 min 7.0
5 min 6.0
5 min 7.5
5 min 6.0
5 min 8.0
5 min 6.0
5 min 7.5
5 min 6.0
5 min 7.5
5 min 6.0
4 min 7.0
cool down
It took 1:14 overall.

A moment to post.

I took yesterday off. Today I did an hour spin class and 3000 in the pool tonight.

You're cranking right along!

ohhhh yeahhh. Its time to switch up gears...so to speak :D

getting some tests back. Blood test had a few elevated spots but apparently nothing worth concern. the ultrasound results are in tomorrow and who knows about the EKG. All this stuff takes so darn long. I have an upper GI test coming up. I'm real excited about drinking barium

Did NROL Fat Loss 3 workout A today. wow, that is just a heavy one. Not literally, its just exhausting. Felt pretty strong considering the past few weeks. A tri friend who hasn't been at the gym since last season seemed shocked at seeing my friend and I and told us our bodies looked transformed. thats always nice to hear, especially when I've felt totally the opposite lately.

After that joined up with tri class in time for their 1 mile timed run. My 1 mile today was 6:32. That was pretty hard after the weights. Shins flared a bit after that.

Then I kept with them for core and we used the "Bender Balls" those things are so awesome.

Even though I hardly did any cardio today I feel very worked out. I called it a day and felt okay about it since I did so much cardio yesterday.

This was our homework from triathlon class. To put it into the runners world calculator and spit out our goal times. These surprise me, they're pretty fast.

Based on a one mile race at 00:06:32, your projected finish times for the following distances should be:

1500m 6:04
the mile 6:32
3000m(3k) 12:39
3200m(about 2 miles) 13:32
5000m(5k) 21:44
8000m(8k) 35:46
5 miles 35:59
10,000m(10k) 45:18
ten miles 1:15:01
a half marathon 1:39:52
a marathon 3:28:14

you never cease to amaze sparrow

did you run a 6:32? you can complete a single mile much faster than that. Where did the 6:32 come from?

I think so too. I ran it right after 45 min of continuous weights (see post above) and much of it was leg heavy. It was also on the tread which to me, is limiting. I'm pretty sure I did a sub 6 a few months ago. I'll have to read back in my journal.

SO- If I can run a single 6:32 it equates that I should be able to run a a sub 2 hr half, and a sub 4 hour full??? hahahaha

um... I am missing something.

I think I'll tkae the tetris game too.
