Sparrows Experiment

2 laps or 2 lengths? 2 lengths takes me about 60 seconds and 60 strokes. It is conceivable that I could lower the combined number to 100, but not 50 if it is laps.

2 lengths. From one wall to the other wall is one lap. good luck!

HA! while you two were yappin I swam a continuous 75 up and backs... just call it 2.5 MILES,, among other things. talk talk talk.... ;)

yes you did 150 LAPS, sounds more impressive eh? and its correct swimmer jargin. lol :D

okay mister, two can play...

while you're SITTING on your hiney eating your dark chocolate, taking phone calls, and whatever else, I'm creating pools of sweat in spin class and running my quads off. lol. Oh yeah, and while you're getting ready for bed in your nice cozy clothes, hanging with the fam, sipping a little tea- I'm in the freezing pool doing sprint 1000's. hehe PPH :p

you know I'm joking with you. hahaha

I'd like to add I got to stay home tonight ...and YAP, it was nice. Someone covered for me at the pool and I hung out with my kiddos making lots of stuff I can't, and didn't eat :D Is it Christmas yet?????

Great workout today. I feel refreshed.

1 hour hill spin-I kept it heavy most of the way and boy did it burn. I again had little lakes next to my bike, gross.

3 mi run @ 9 min pace

15 min running stairs.

abs

I seriously think I sweat more than the average bear. its really disgusting! I was drenched after all this, and I wore a cotton shirt so that made it even more gross. I drank about 64 oz of water and was absolutly starving on the stairs despite a breakfast of oatmeal, natty butter and protein powder. I need to start bringing my accelerade or gu I think.

It wasn't a running day for me, in my plan, but I only did 2 instead of 3 miles yesterday and it was slow enough today I didn't really see the harm in going a little longer. My "long" run this week is supposed to be 4 miles but I'm going to do my 6 mi route on Sat.

added a 3k swim tonight and did it straight. OMIGOSH that was the most boring thing ever. I was the only one in the pool. I did it in a little under 45 min and felt totally sick afterwards. I had eaten dinner with my fam like an hour before that. urp.

Nice going Sparrow - I had gotten a friend of mine interested in NROL a while back and she was doing well at it, and she said that I should come to the pool with her to see how the other half lives. It was a good time, but it was clear she'd been swimming a long time compared to my feeble attempts. If I had more time at lunch I'd go more often.

good day of working out there. nice.

Only NROL lower body today. 4x10 structure
135 squats
115 deadlifts
15 pounds for the split squats and step ups.

Didn't have time for cardio. Helped in my kids' classrooms

Teaching swimming today I did the "12 days of Christmas" starting with #12. Each person came up with a set when it was their number. We started with "12 laps of warm up" and from there they got creative on down to "100 cool down" it was a good time. We have a bitter cold wind going on here though, standing out in it wasn't very fun.

Today is my day "off" I typically don't count lifting. Tomorrow will be my "long" run of 6 miles and then Sunday I'll swim or something.

um edit: I did end up going to the gym. My husband wanted company so I went and did 30 min eliptical. Got into the "Nutcracker on Ice" :) and then I did 15 min of hills on a bike and then a ton of core. I've neglected core more than anything with NROL but I think its cause I feel like its hit indirectly constantly with what I do.

anyway...it was fun to "play" at the gym...thats it.

ha. yeah. never.

I didn't do my long run. I have a lung infection and UTI. glamorous. I thought it was just indigestion. LOL. Maybe I'll go for a walk...walk? that actually sounds pretty nice

I'm outta here for a little while. Gonna just chill this week as I know things will kick up pretty quick at the turn of the year and I need to be up for that. I'm taking the entire week off due to medical stuff. Plus its just good to do now and then, and I never do it even when I should. I'm in good space with my fitness. I'll try to keep up the diet to preserve muscle. I'm a litle discouraged, but I guess if any time, this is a good time to do this. Merry Christmas everyone.

it does sound kind of nice. I think we will go to the Christmas Lights and walk too.

Merry Christmas to you too honey!

Merry Christmas to all.

oh I hate being still. I have had a week of ups and downs. A week ago I started getting some (ok, a lot of) stomach pain and pressure that has led me into a series of medical tests, some of which I've already had, some I still need to take. There have been symptoms alarming enough that my dr has been concerned and luckily is moving quickly. Despite trying to be still I did try and venture out a few times, only because I'm an idiot and very strong-willed. I ran on Sunday and Wednesday and lifted once on Thursday. None of that went very well so I'm trying to just be still and get better. I'm really not good at it and I'm driving my family crazy. I've been tired and taking naps-something else I'm not used to. Its making me feel really lazy and off of my game. I'm scared of losing fitness (and gaining weight) but many assure me that can't really happen in a week. I sure feel gross though. I'm hoping to be back to it slowly on Monday, but I'm not sure. My dr has said I can continue with moderate exercise next week as long as my blood count doesn't get lower (it is slowly declining because I'm losing some blood) and as long as further tests don't reveal anything that will promote me to stop. SO thats it. I've been getting many PM's regarding whats up so I just thought I'd write it all out. I'm not dying :) My dr thinks its an ulcer or gallstones, both are very treatable. Thanks for those who have had concern.

Initially it was like indigestion. A sharp pain right below my rib cage that would radiate to the right side and I had pain in my upper right back also. The sharpness eventually subsided to more of a pressure/dull ache like someone had socked me in the stomach and it also felt like a huge ball was right below my ribcage. It was hard to stand up straight. Very tender to the touch. It wa also hard to eat almost anything. Everything was aggravating it. Its still tender to the touch but much better than it was and I'm able to eat again-but nothing really heavy or fatty. Nuts seem to make it worse. My beloved PB isn't my friend right now.

that's exactly what gal stones feels like.
have you gotten a ct scan yet?
If it gets too bad, then your pancreas can swell up, and that's no fun. For me, it meant being in the hospital for two friggin weeks; eating nothing; you drink water and sprite; oh and itallian ices.
having my gal bladder taken out sucked so bad.
it heals rather quickly though..in about a week.
good luck.
try eating chicken noodle soup. DO NOT EAT FRUITS OR VEGETABLES. THEY WILL MAKE YOU PUKE

I'm loving chicken noodle soup. I actually have this new habit of just making a pot and pouring the broth in a cup to drink later at night. Its very soothing and it doesn't hurt.
I had a chicken salad tonight. it was one of the first "real" things I've had to eat in a while. Protein in general doesn't seem to hurt me. I had an omelet yesterday and no problems. The salad part seemed to go down okay too but I had very little of the actual lettuce part out of fear! Fruits and veggies don't even sound good
