Scarlett's Diary - Tomorrow is another day

If you do the 10lb monthly challenges, that could be gone in 3 months .... 6 months should be a snap for you ;)

I've no doubt you'll get rid of the last 30lbs before Xmas Scarlett if you keep u with your 1500 cals a day. Thanks for working out the maths on my diary (I got a 4 in my standard grade maths and never did it again), numbers generally scare me!:eek: :confused:

Hi y'all....good to hear from everyone. And thanks for all the wise words. This may sound weird but I'm very afraid of putting myself in one of the challenges. If I put too much pressure on myself I might fail. I just kind of want to take my time and do my 1 to 2 pounds a week. Because then it won't creep back on.

Every time I've lost weight fast it came right back. But this time it has stayed off so I feel like for me it's just a better choice to go at a snail's pace. I've got columns in my spreadsheet that show each day where I will be through the end of the year if I lose 1, 1.4 or 2 pounds a week. And I'm happy with the results of any of those options through the end of the year.

Plus I'm already trying to put myself in maintenance mode, in that this is going to have to be my lifestyle for the rest of my life. So I want to keep it at a caloric level where when I meet my goal I may only need to up my calories 200 or 300 to maintain. As I get closer to my goal I think I should start creeping my calories up slowly so that my body adjusts slowly. For me I think it would backfire if all of a sudden I bumped it up that much. So for this last 30 that is my goal, to lose it slow and as I do focus more on a maintenance lifestyle. Wish me luck!!!!

No treadmill today, mostly because my husband and I got up at 6:45 am and started working on the backyard. We worked for a few hours and really sweated because it was a scorcher. Then it was off to Home Depot for a major shopping spree. So after that day I was too beat to even get on the treadmill.

Had a really healthy breakfast (yogurt with dried fruit) and lunch (broccoli slaw and sliced pork on a pita bread) but then I slipped up when he went to McDonald's for a McFlurry thingy and I had a few bites of it. Then instead of dinner because I was too exhausted to cook I had popcorn and pistachio nuts. Total calories ate today was 1302 which is still under my limit....but I still feel pretty hungry. This could be bad. :eek:

Hi Scarlett! Your "slow and steady" plan is great :D Stick with it and you'll do great!

You can get through the night! I know it! If you MUST have something, grab some fruit :D That way it won't do damage and you'll get full :D

Hope you've had a great day! :D

sounds like you had an exercise filled day... i suggest mr scarlett treat you to a lovely massage and you get a good nights sleep :)

(I'm full of lots of good ideas)

challenges

I think you are right about the challenges. I started out happy as a clam with the idea of 5 pounds per month loss. But now I am shooting for 10. Should stay happy with 5 and count anything more as a bonus. I have a long way to go before I have to ease into any maintenance mode, though. :) But, your idea is very good.

LoL, 'low and slow' is a perfect plan. I was just settin' a fire under your butt :D I was just trying to make you cry 'cuz I owe ya one ;)

Come goal day, I'll (and everyone who's had weight issues) need to learn low and slow. I have much to learn about that yet and this place will definitely be the place to learn it.

Scarlet, my mam is on a very good diet, which ends with upping the amount of bad things you eat in the end in order for your body to get used to it.. She actually keeps losing weight while on it. It's called “solidification”.

It goes a bit like this:

~~
1st week of "illegality"(bad things we chose to eat):

Eat one portion of bad thing, like a chocolate cake for instance for lunch or breakfast NOT dinner, following by what you would usually eat (i.e. something healthy) for dinner.

~~
2nd week:

Repeat the first week's "illegality" 2 times a week, one day spaced from the other. -Monday and Friday for example.

~~
3rd week:

Repeat with 2 "illegalities" again but with one meal following the other. For example.. -Thursday's dinner and Friday's lunch.

~~
On the 4th week you are allowed to do an entire day of "illegalities".

The above will stabilise/ seal your weight where you stop your diet. This technique is done to trick your body into believing its ok to eat calorific/ bad things and doesn't conceive them as alien introductions. By doing so, your body will stop storing the excess and will digest whatever you feed it.

:) Well done by the way. -Very impressed with your strength. Keep up the good work ;)

hey scarlett- you sound like me. i've pretty much come to terms with the fact that i am LUCKY with my efforts if i lose 3 lbs/month so a 10 lb month is totally setting myself up for failure. I tried once a while back and even though I knew my body wouldnt do it...it was still a downer, so I TOTALLY agree with you. us snails will have to just be snails! also, i am so on your page with the maintenance (once i get there) and making this a lifestyle not a diet so sounds like you are doing awesome. Good to read others with the same kind of plan! Keep up the great work. You surely have your head on your shoulders and know what to expect which I think is half the battle of keeping the right attitude!

Hey Scarlett, your plan sounds very sensible, and reasonable. It is so important to think ahead to when you reach your goal weight, and what you are going to do then. Otherwise, like most of us have done several times, it is easy to put it back on again. I am sure that using your plan, you will shift this weight for good ... period. Keep up the great work ;)

Hey Scarlett I can relate to being a bit wary of the challenges etc, I'm trying this one for this month (just to see if it IS actually possible to loose 10lbs in a month while exercising and getting 1200cals a day).

I started thinking myself that I should stop trying to put time limits on my weight loss, I'll loose it whatever happens, even if it doesn't happen really quickly. Of course the good thing about loosing it slowly as well if that you won't have to worry about your skin being all loose when you reach your goal heh heh. Healthy is definately the way to go for us i think!;)

I'm trying to get to the slow pace, well actually I'm already there, haven't lost a lb in 3 weeks, ha ha but I guess I need to get there mentally, I know that once I've had a good week of eating and exercise I want to get up on monday and be a size 2 already :D

Well girls....since it seems like most of us are in agreement that slow is good maybe we should form a "Snail's Pace Club". LOL!!!!!

Today's Calories

Ate = 1521
Burned = 400
Net = 1121

Lol @ Snails Pace club! :D

When I first joined, we had challenges where we would divide up in groups and just try to lose as much as we could for two or three weeks. The group with the highest percentage lost would get postcards. (Or was supposed to get postcards. :rolleyes: ) I used to love those kind of challenges because it wasn't a certain amount of weight you had to lose.

I wonder why we don't do those anymore? Probably cause everyone who ran them are gone. Lol! I wonder how many would be interested in doing that?
