Scarlett's Diary - Tomorrow is another day

I got back on the treadmill yesterday and burned 453 calories!!! And it didn't kick my butt too much. I was surprised that I didn't struggle with it. The only thing I can think of is that we did do a lot of walking while we were on vacation so maybe that kept me in the swing more than I realized.

So rosered, I am ready for ya!!!! Ooooh, I hope you do get a treadmill. Then we can really compare notes.

And hi avajayne, Pineola and M2M. Lovely to hear from you all. Now that I'm back I want the check in on more diaries and connect with other folks to see what they do. So I'll be dropping by you guys soon.

And to answer your question, I really do think the forum is what helps me. I do better when this whole weight loss thing is at the front of my mind. If I'm thinking about it alot, discussing it with other people etc then I can do it. Also I keep a spreadsheet where I log everything I eat and count my calories. I noticed that when I didn't do that I didn't pay attention to what I ate so much.

And this has been a long process, with a lot of ups and downs. In October it will be two years and I really hope to be close to my goal by then. The only good thing about losing it really slow is that all my skin seems to be shrinking back nicely!! LOL!!!

Hey girl! You are doing great on the number of calories burned! Don't you wish that reading a book burned lots of cals too? ;) I'd be so skinny right now! Lol!

Scarlett, I think losing the weight slowly like you have is the most healthy way to do it. I also think that you will be more likely to keep it off because you changed the way you eat for life rather than just starved yourself for a few months. Have a good day tomorrow.

Scarlett

I must say that I do have to agree with you about this forum helping. I continute to struggle but the weight isn't creeping back on. I keep getting back on the horse because I want to be able to share my successes with everyone who drops by my journals and offers me support. I really think I need this forum. I don't know if I will always need the forum but for now I do.

About the skin thing. I have worries about the extra skin. In the past it has always shrunk back because I didn't have so much to lose but with over 100lbs to lose I worry. So you say that you skin has shrunk nicely. That is good to know because my weightloss is extremely slow.

hey scarlett, thanks for popping in on my journal. :)

and I love this forum too. It's great to talk to people who's experiencing the same issues I am. It's all about support here. it's great isn't it? :)

I totally agree about the skin part. Everyone's very anxious to lose alot really fast but I always remember about the flabby skin afterwards because of this. It's best to lose only 1-2 pounds a week. Yay for your 2 year anniversary! :)

Looks like your doing well hun, because you haven’t kicked my backside I got rubber legs and kicked my own:eek: lol M2M gave me a few pokes as well.. See you tomorrow :D

Hi everyone, great to hear from you all!!!! :D I love visiting with you all in my diary or in yours. It always brings a smile to my face.

Okay, so tonight I have to go out to dinner for business. And they want to go to a pizza place....AAARRRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!

I need about a 400 calorie dinner tonight that would consist of a chicken breast and some veggies. I hope I can find something on the menu. I've got this little mini goal that I want to reach and all I need to lose is a half more pound. And I want so desperately to see it this week!!!!

And gosh Hypo, if reading burned calories I'd be Kate Moss kind of skinny!!!!

I have to share your lament about reading not burning calories. I could do that kind of exercise all the time! One thing I do on a lazy day is I get on the stationary bike and read. The purists say it doesn't burn as many calories, but I say it burns a lot more than reading on the couch! At least my legs are moving! Plus when I'm reading I can bike for 2 hours, and even if it's only 1/4 the intensity, I still got to read, and if I had felt like riding hard for that half hour I would have in the first place! Right?

You're doing great & you have a wonderful attitude, Scarlet. Keep up the good work.

pizza

I don't know what pizza place you are going to, but according to the Pizza Hut nutrtion calculator, a thin crust pizza with chicken, green peppers, red onion, and tomatoes is 190 calories a slice. You could have two slices, get your chicken and veggies, and still be at only 380 calories. You could probably add a side salad of lettuce and veggies and skip the dressing and still be under 400. Just have to make sure that you are eating a thin crust. Maybe that would work?

Hey you are doing absolutely fantastic, I love the way you set yourself small achievable goals and you seem to have made a wonderful change in lifestyle...well done!:D

You are doing wonderful. Let us know how creative you were with the pizza place menu. No doubt you will do wonderfully. You've got that 1/2lb licked.

You know what, you guys really are the best!!!!! I wish I could just give you all a great big hug right now. It feels so good to have people cheering you on....how can we fail when we have that?

And it's funny how dependent I've become on you all. My first thoughts when I woke up this morning were 1) I hope I made that goal when I step on the scale and 2) I'm glad I'm working from home today because I want to catch up on everyone's diaries!!!! It's like I've come to depend not only the support you give me, but on being supportive to you all as well. I feel like I'm part of something and I want us all to succeed together!!!!

So thank you all again!!!! I just adore you all!!!

As for the pizza place, I did good. I ordered a salad caprese which was three pieces of mozzarella, three, little pieces of bread, tomatoes and olives. I ate one of the pieces of mozzarella, one of the pieces of bread, all of the tomatoes and some of the olives. Brought the rest home. Then I had one slice of thin crust veggie pizza. There were plenty of salads to choose from but I've been having to stay away from lettuce lately because it's really been causing me some stomache upset. So without the salad option when going out to eat I am really limited. But last night was okay, I calculated that my dinner was about 493 calories. Total calories for yesterday 1403, but no treadmill because it was one of my days at the office.

On another note, when I stepped on that scale this morning I reached my personal milestone!!!! I weigh what I did on my wedding day!!!! So at 6:45 this morning I put on my wedding dress, which zipped all the way up and made my husband take a picture of me. I was so happy!!! Which makes up for last night when the colleague we had dinner with said I was fat. Now granted, he is from a far away country and doesn't have a very good grasp of the English language. So maybe he didn't mean it the way I took it. But that made me cry.

Well, off to get a healthy breakfast, then do the treadmill, then to stop by and visit with you all in your diaries. Can't wait to see how you are all doing so far this week.

yay for reaching your milestone... congratulations... what a sense of accomplishment :)

I'm so sorry you cried when your colleague was thoughtless... while i'm sure the lack of command of the english language was a big factor, if he does it again, tell him he's got a really teeny dick.. it's a term of endearment, yeah that's it.. (Ok, so I have a vengeful side... :)

YAY on your accomplishment!!

maleficent, you made me laugh!!!! I love your vengeful side. Thank you!!!!

p.s. is your screen name from the Disney villian? Because if it is I just LOVE her!!!!!

Maleficent is indeed the evil queen from sleeping beauty - she billed herself as the Mistress of all that is Evil... She's my favorite of all villians because she had no real motive to be evil... She just was... :) :D

maleficent, I like your style!!!

Came across this little quote today in a motivational message from my manager....I of course immediately applied it to weight loss and it rings so true....

"Each difficulty you encounter along the way will, after you get beyond it, eventually add value to whatever you're doing. Each so called failure is only temporary when you are committed to reaching the goal".

You did a great job at the restaurant! As for the idiot, I second Maleficient's suggestion. Or you could just be more subtle and flash your pinky finger at your husband and roll your eyes whenever the idiot speaks.

You've done something so few people have. How many women want to fit into their wedding dress again? CONGRATULATIONS!!! Now, what are the chances of us seeing that photo?
