Christina (Smurf) lol - Spirulina is an algae. Sounds yummy I know! But it has so many benefits, so many nutrients, I'll post what I found on Wiki. I buy mine through the natural products that my fam and I buy all our vitamins and stuff from. This is just quick info on that company's website:
Benefits of Spirulina:
• Vegetarian source of protein
• Helps cleanse and detoxify
• Excellent source of phytonutrients
• World’s most complete food
Our Spirulina is:
• Certified organic
• Grown in controlled ponds
• Safe, pure, quality assured
This is some info from Wiki about spirulina:
Nutrients and other chemicals
Protein
Spirulina contains an unusually high amount of protein, between 55% and 77% by dry weight, depending upon the source. It is a complete protein,[4] containing all essential amino acids, though with reduced amounts of methionine, cysteine, and lysine when compared to the proteins of meat, eggs, and milk. It is, however, superior to typical plant protein, such as that from legumes.
Essential fatty acids
Spirulina is rich in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), and also provides alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), linoleic acid (LA), stearidonic acid (SDA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), and arachidonic acid (AA).
Vitamins
Spirulina contains vitamin B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (nicotinamide), B6 (pyridoxine), B9 (folic acid), vitamin C, vitamin D, and vitamin E.[6][7]
Minerals
Spirulina is a rich source of potassium, and also contains calcium, chromium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, selenium, sodium, and zinc.
2Skinny - For the green tea, it depends where I work. If I'm in the O.R. they have a tap that gives boiling water, so I could bring a lidded cup but the last time I tried that it tasted weird. I used my coffee cup and it's metal so I don't know if it's because of either of those reasons that it didn't taste right. lol... However, they do have disposable cups and lids I can try and see if it makes a difference. About the smoothies, I made mine with soy milks, the sugar free stuff. It's only 80 cals per cup and it may be vanilla flavoured, it may not. But it works great and tastes great... I mean your mostly tasted the fruit and/or protein powder anyhow!
