Risty's Diary (Christina)

Aw, you're a nice aunty. And hell YA that constitutes exercise. lol

I'm going to do the candida treatment diet starting Monday and focus a bit more on my eating plan than exercise but I'll still stay on the elliptical at the gym. I've exercised quite diligently for six weeks with little weight loss and I believe I'm just not on the right eating plan. This is going to take a lot of focus and preparation time so I want to give it my all. I take inspiration from how YOU are giving your all to P90X !

Have a great Friday buddy.

Hey everyone, I don't have time to post in everyone's diaries just quickly popping on here before work. I hope to get a chance tomorrow (after I clean the house to get ready for guests... or maybe before cleaning ;) lol.. procrastination woo!) Anyways....

I'm just so tired today, I had to MAKE myself do P90X and I was wanting to quit the whole time! I did my 1 hr Back and Legs portion but I skipped out on the 16 minute Ab portion.... I say just making myself do the whole hour of the other thing was a miracle on its own! lol

Yeah the amazing race challenge is very interesting. I like how they give you things to work towards. We could always add challenges to the biggest loser one like on the show for a little extra exercise incentive.

Well gotta go, hope to be on here tomorrow and catch up!

Hey Risty,

Sorry I haven't been on in a while hun! Looks like you're doing great though :) nice work on all the exercise!! (You're putting me to shame as usual!)

Hows life, other than diet-wise? x

Just popping in to say I hope you enjoyed your guests and aren't quite as tired as you were. Have a great week and I'll pop back in here tomorrow to see how you're doing.

Hey everyone, it's been a weird week. I did my challenge exercises but didn't get most of the P90X stuff done. I so slacked off on my exercise last week and my eating definitely could have been better (especially saturday and monday).

I still feel really tired though. I know I need to go to bed earlier and I know I need to take my iron pills, but I just keep forgetting! So I really have to actually start doing that. I know with low iron you feel tired and I know I have low iron... so what the hell! Take the damn iron! lol

As for P90X my shoulder still isn't 100% so I think I will stop doing the upper body stuff and just let my shoulder heal completely. I don't want to keep injuring it over and over. So once I let it heal, I'll restart the program. I think I'll keep doing the lower body ones and some of the cardio ones that don't have upper body stuff. I will also use my recumbent bike. I may use my sister's elliptical if she'll let me or maybe start learning to run again.

It's hard to think about doing that stuff though when I feel so tired though. I know I also need to modify my diet to have more fruits and veggies and healthier things. I'm going to have to come up with a meal plan which will help a lot.

Oh girl, I know how hard it is to take the vitamins. I tried putting a reminder on my phone and it started to annoy me so I took it off.

I hope you get them in, I take it you have a deficiency?

Risty I 110% know how you feel with not feeling you have the motivation or energy to manage more exercise... it's hard when you're busy and run down all the time!

Dont be too hard on yourself... just try and eat right and you can up the exercise again when you feel up to it :) theres no point in pushing yourself when you're feeling too tired and ending up doing yourself more harm than good.

xx

Good luck with developing a meal plan that works for you :)

I'm glad you're taking a rest, although not glad to hear of your injury. :(

Everyone has weeks where life gets in the way of goals. Don't be down on yourself though! You've come really far, and when you look back on this entry, you'll realize iti was just a bump in the road. :p

I usually grab a multivitamin with my morning coffee. It says 100% of RDI, but thats based on a 2000 cal diet.....Oh yea, I'm closer to a 3000 cal maintainence LOL. Ah well. Take some time to heal yourself up, and when you think you're ready jump right back on where you left off!

MJB - Yeah the iron in your blood is supposed to be above 40 and last time mine was checked it was 17 or 18. I don't know what is is now because that was last year or more ago. But since I haven't done anything to improve it, it's either the same or worse. I remember my iron pill today though! I'm also going to be making smoothies in the morning and adding this green powder stuff to my smoothies (2 kinds actually). One is Spirulina which is a sea vegetable/algae and it's high in minerals and things and the other is phyto power which is a powder that has 19 different types of vegetables (which I know I need more of). When I was drinking that when I lived at home, my iron was fine. So both taking the iron pills and drinking that stuff, I'll be fine! It'll just take time!

Andy, 2skinny & tutti - Thanks for the support guys!

On the topic of iron, I think I'm going to make an appointment and get it checked out, just because I want to know what it is and how much iron pills I need to take.. can't remember if it's 1 or 2 per day.

Anyways, today I did 1 hr 6 mins on the bike, hills level 4 (the 6 mins was warm up/cool down).

That's awesome you're taking spirulina -
Funny little story for you: there is a squirrel living in my attic and he runs around like a nutbar up there sometimes. I'll be watching t.v. and I hear his little feet scurrying above me. I was wondering what he eats because there's no food in my attic, until I saw he's climbing in and out of a vent in my attic, cute little fellah. Least I'm not living alone!

2skinny - yeah I was having it more often when I was actually making smoothies in the morning... so I have to get back to that. Though I do have it in capsule form so I have no excuses really... I bought the capsules for when I don't make smoothies. I'm just terrible at remembering anything good for me such as my vitamins, iron, spirulina, whatever! I wish I thought about that stuff half as much as I think about food, lol. I also haven't been drinking my green tea, oy!

I'm trying to convince myself to exercise, it's hard to do! I have to make myself everyday, I wish it came more naturally... ah well. I'll get to it before I go to work.

Regarding the exercise: in my experience, I have found that I usually dread heading to the gym during the day. Not sure why, but I do. However, when I actually pick myself up and drag my butt there, I usually feel a lot better about going. The way I feel afterwards is what makes it worth it for me. Its positive reinforcement than I am actively pursing a goal.

Still, I have days where I just don't want to get off the couch. :biggrinjester:

Maybe after a while it will just become habit! :p

Andy - I do feel the same way. It's hard for me to actually get started with my exercises but once I start and get it done I feel awesome. I just wish I could remember that prior when I'm struggling to get started. I also hope that eventually it'll become habit.

My sister, and I don't know how she feels this way, but is the opposite! She wants to exercise and she likes it and if she doesn't do it she feels like crap. I mean, I feel like crap when I don't do it but that's because I feel guilty especially since I want to lose weight and need to put the effort in. But her, she doesn't need to lose weight at all, she just does it to feel good and keep what she has I suppose! I wish I could feel that way and I hope one day I will.

Today - So I did some exercising. Went on the recumbent bike for 1 hr on hills level 4. I also did the 30 day shred (hadn't done it in a year and thought I'd try it and see how I did in comparison since I've been doing P90X). I did better for sure, I never really had to stop... my push ups were much improved. The only hard part were the stupid shoulder exercises, I know the shoulders muscles are really weak compared to the rest of the arm muscles but it annoys me how weak they are! lol... eventually, they shall improve!

*Edit - called the dvd the 20 minute shred when it's actually the 30 day shred... the workouts are 20 mins... OY!

Well I'd say you're doing a great job at the exercise and eating. It's hard to hit everything all at once. I plan to drink more smoothies also and maybe I'll do the same and put spirulina in them. Do you have the type of job where you could drink green tea at work? I have a kettle in my office cubicle. I bring my vitamins, minerals, green tea and even olive oil to work. lol
Mmmm, now I'm gonna have to find some type of gluten and dairy free milk ... maybe rice milk with which to make my smoothies...
