Risty's Diary (Christina)

2skinny - I just think I'm extra tired because of TOM. I also have low iron anyways, so during that time makes my iron even worse. I know low iron causes low energy/fatigue so my dr told me to take iron pills... I just keep forgetting to take them! It's ridiculous!

crazy4beads - My determination went out the window yesterday. I was too tired, I ate too much at lunch and it left me lethargic. I was so full all afternoon I just couldn't exercise. Then after dinner I was too tired. So was a bad day yesterday.

To correct yesterday, I got up early this morning and did my yesterday's workout and then this afternoon I will do today's workout. I think I'm going to go to my sister's gym and try the zumba class tonight. It sounds so fun! I know it sounds like a lot of working out today, but it's not too bad. This morning I did kenpo x which is cardio (kicks, punches, etc). This afternoon is actually just the x stretch dvd, so I think it's only stretches so it's not like cardio or weight lifting. So that's why I'm going to do zumba on this day instead of a day where I do a lot of weight lifting or a lot of cardio. Plus it works with both of our schedules.

My Diary

Here is the code, to view it, try to quote it, then cut and paste it into your signature. Make sure there are no spaces in the code between this and your ticker or it will be too many characters and reject it.

If you can't see the code, make sure you are in "editor mode", you can click the top right hand corner of the box where the A is to see the code (by box I mean the text box that pops up when you quote someone).

I only got it working cause of you!

As for yesterday, I didn't end up going to the zumba class because it would cost $10 almost for a drop in fee. I tried to see if they had a free trial week at the gym (because my old gym had that) and they said it just expired but they may get it back for spring. So I'll just wait until spring and see if they get it again. I don't want to get a membership to a place I can't try first to see if I like it.

Today, I went on a 40 min walk. Went to work to pick up something from a coworker, could have driven, but I walked instead which gives me a nice 40 mins of exercise so far for today.

I don't know what else I'll do. Maybe try the Cardio X dvd, or maybe go on the elliptical for half an hour... not sure.

Thanks Trusylver! I think this is the first time that I have been completely consistent with exercise! I think it helps that I'm doing things at home, that way I don't have to try and get somewhere!

Today's exercise recap: 1 hr core synergistics dvd, 40 min walk.

Calories: Slightly over (by approx 150 cals)... so not so bad.

It bites that gyms charge extra for classes, as if the membership fees aren't enough!! Then you have to pay extra to spin, and zumba!! Perhaps that goes directly to the trainer though, who knows....

MissJelly - Well, at every gym some classes are extra. But the spin and zumba are part of the membership, however I don't have a membership there. So I was going to have to pay the drop in fee of almost $10 for the day (or for however long you stay for that day) or I'd have to get a membership. I don't want to get a membership though until I can try the gym out and see if I like it. They had a free week thing going on in dec and jan (which I didn't know about). When I phoned they said it expired but they may get it back in the spring. So I'll keep checking in to see if they have it before I make a decision on getting a membership or not.

Today - I did my cardio x dvd for the first time, it's 45 mins long. It's pretty tiring. The dvd is a mixture of 4 of his other dvds. It starts with yoga, then kenpo, then plyometrics and then lastly core synergistics. I'm bad at yoga and it's tiring so I'm glad it moved on to kenpo! I like kenpo I can do that one pretty decently. Plyo and core are hard and very tiring so I was sweating so much by the end! I do like that dvd, has nice variety!

You are a constant inspiration, my friend. I am in awe. :seeya:

Good job doing that DVD!! Go girl! I have so many that are just sitting around calling to me. I need to clear some space and just get down already. lol I need to be able to move around and right now, there are things in the way. Soon though, we'll get some spaced cleared.

I have to join a gym soon too, to start swim lessons. Not looking forward to it since my hair does not do well with chlorine.

Um thinking of joining a gym too since I can't afford the trainer. I would need some prodding once I'm there to work out hard. Even today I was conscious of my huffing and puffing doing what mustve looked like easy stuff to the ditties who were sprinting on the treadmill!!!

I know we will get there!!

The only problem with having a gym membership for me is getting my butt there! I have a hard time just getting there. Once I'm there I'm fine, but to get there is the hard part.

I can't afford a membership at the moment because I never know when I'll get work, I'm casual so I get called in and this month I've barely worked. So that's why I'm doing the P90X DVD series. It works out the whole body through the different DVDs, it's very challenging and I don't have to go anywhere to do it. Plus, you don't need very much equipment for it either.

Ticker Moving.

Great to see your ticker is moving in the right direction.

Well done.

I agree with not joining a gym till you've tried it - you've seen my post about my new gym. Have you asked if they'd refund the $10 drop-in fee if you joined afterward ? That way you've only 'wasted' $10 if you don't like it and nothing if you do (just a thought).

Hey Bob, I really doubt they would because most gyms have no problem letting you try it for a week. But at that one they said it has to come from the head office or whatever term they used and so I doubt anyone that works there has any authority to do something like that.

I have this one challenge on this other site where I need a bike, so I'm going to go to that gym and pay the drop in fee, use the bike (need to do 50 miles, I'm going to try and do it in that one day) and I'll try that zumba class that I wanted to try before! So it'll be a two in one thing going there. I'll still try and get that free week in the spring though because you need more than one day to see if it's a good fit.

Today - Calories were good until dinner... I know I went over but it'll still be under maintenance, so that's ok. I'm on to Phase 2 of P90X. The dvd today was chest, shoulders and triceps + ab ripper x (1 hr 15 mins). It was soooo hard! My arms were completely dead afterwards. I thought the push ups in the dvd's in phase one were hard... these are even worse! I couldn't do half of them the way they wanted me to. For 3 or 4 of them I just ended up doing regular knee push ups. There's no way I'm going to hurt myself again trying to do something I know I'm not strong enough for. So the more I do even just the regular push ups the sooner I can do the harder stuff.

Whoo hoo to Phase 2 of P90X ! I am so impressed how committed you are to this program. And I forgot you live in B.C. my fellow Canadian. ha ha Is it a little nuts with the Olympics right now? Or are you not in the epicenter of it all?

Here's to another butter burning, fat busting, kick-ass day!! Have a good one.

2skinny - Yeah it's not any different here. We're about 4-5 hours away from Vancouver so we're not affected by it. But everyone here is really excited. At the residential home I worked at yesterday they had a board up with the different countries and the medals they won, lol. Was good to see because I haven't watched any of the olympics besides the opening ceremony so far.

Crazy4beadz - Yeah I weighed in and it's disappointing yet again. I ony lost 0.8 pounds. It's really making me angry. I must be gaining muscle with all the weight lifting. I'm going to get my sister to measure me today but I know I've lost inches because my jeans fit better.... though maybe they just need to be washed??? lol Even if they do, I know my underwear is fitting better! It's not cutting into my hips as bad! WOO! Still... I want the scale to show my efforts damn it!
