Put that down, fatty!

Argh! We're both struggling to get below 200 aren't we? So frustrating! We'll get there in time though, I'm sure of it. :)

Congrats on quitting smoking! I wish you well. I personally never started smoking (thankfully) so I never had to quit, but I have heard how difficult it is. I was addicted to soda which was difficult to quit, but now I very rarely have it. Just take it one day at a time and before you know you'll be smoke free! :)

You are doing so good with the walking; and quitting smoking that's awsome!
Hang in there 'bout the finances girl.

Losing weight while quitting smoking will be tough but hang in there. Think of all the money you used to spend on smokes

That's what I thought, Brawny! We spend over £100 a month. I'm going to use it at the beginning on August to buy the most amazing food shop :) Replace all my sauces, herbs, oils etc and buy delicious fresh stuff. So it'll be worth it when that happens. Just feel so down in the dumps and I miss smoking so much. I know that sounds so silly but I feel like it was a part of me and now I'm boring or not as interesting. Which I realise makes me sound about 12. I don't know. Just a bit glum. But sticking with it :)

Thanks for the support everyone <3

Never developed the habit myself because I watched them kill my dad and I was an athlete back in ancient times and I saw how us who didn't smoke had an easier go at conditioning than those who did. Plus I was too cheap. I wanted to spend my money on girls and guitars.....sigh....good times!

Congrats to everyone who gives up smoking.

Sunflower, I understand what you mean. Smoking really controls your life in weird ways. You don't sound 12, you sound like someone who was addicted and gave up.

So proud of you for giving up smoking! Been there, done that (sadly no t-shirt), so I know how difficult it can be.
An believe me, putting a cigarette in your mouth doesn't make you one bit more interesting. What makes you interesting is who you are, not if you do or do not smoke.
And FYI: the non-smokers are the cool kids now!

YAY for quitting smoking! I'm sorry to say, but I hate being around smokers, especially when my kids are around. This lady at the park was smoking, THE PARK! I was SO mad. And it wasn't a huge park with lots of areas, it was a small park with just stuff for little kids to do, with a bunch of little kids and babies there! Unfortunately I find a lot of smokers don't give a crap about the rules of where you can or cannot smoke and don't respect the feelings of those around them.

Not saying you were like that, and I hope you weren't!!! But you will feel much better once the cravings are gone. You won't be thinking about it constantly, and your lungs will be much happier with you!!!

In nz its illegal to smoke in areas where kids play.
It's not illegal in France but I never smoke at the kids play areas or outside cafe tables if there are people sitting close by.
I also never smoke directly where my son is. If we are at a cafe outside and I want one we sit him on hubby away front the smoke.

It's a really hard habit to stop and I wish I never started.

Giving up would be great, I just don't have the will power :( while pregnant I have cut down considerably but can't stop all together as I get too stressed. I'm now down to 3 a day where as before it was 10/15 a day.

Hey Hana, hope your alright :)

I am a hardcore cigarette addict, last time I tried to give up PHEW!!!! Hell hath no fury like a nicotineless ruth, is all I can say. Are you giving up cos its harder to smoke in your new job?

I think I might try e-cigarettes. Smoking is silly.

A few of my boyfriend's family members do the e-cigarette thing and it seems to have worked well. Make sure you find yourself a new habit to develop for those times that you typically reach for a cigarette. I'm so happy to hear you're getting rid of an unhealthy habit! Your body and your wallet will thank you.

Oh, and seriously, I can't imagine that you've ever in your life been considered boring or uninteresting .

Great job on quitting smoking! I can imagine how hard it is.. I only smoked socially once awhile or when I was stressed etc. It really bothered my EX and he asked me if I would stop which I did and now I'm very thankful for it I feel much better! Hang in there! I used to crave, especially in certain 'cue' situations but the more time goes by the more I don't desire it at all.

Ah can just imagine how stressed you must be- new job, trying to lose weight and quitting smoking. I used to smoke years ago and it was a good vice haha, now I just drink coffee. Well done for sticking with it!

I like your idea of getting all new fresh stuff for your kitchen with the money you'd normally be spending on cigarettes. It has to be hard to quit I'm sure, but just take it one day at a time. I agree with the others who have said that by not having a cigarette in your mouth does NOT make you any less interesting. In fact, I feel the opposite when I see people with cigarettes hanging out of their mouths. I just never got it (no offense to those who smoke - we all have our addictions!).

Hello my darlings! I would respond to each one of your lovely, supportive comments but I am pushed for time and EXHAUSTED. I just worked a 24 hour shift and am pooped! The no-smoking is going well..I've had one cheeky one in the garden at work last night because I was just so tired and grumpy!

So yeah, going well. Diet has been so-so. Took a child out for contact with parents today and they chose McDonalds. So that happened. And now I'm going to sleep. SLEEEEEEP.

Will post properly when I'm not a zombie xx

I hope you are having a wonderful well deserved sleep. The work you do would exhaust me in 8 so 24 sounds unimaginable. Nice work not smoking.

Thanks boys :beating:

So, a relaxing few days. Weight is staying at 203 for the time being so I'm chuffed. I'm not sure I mentioned it in my diary but I'm on my holidays for a week now. Leaving for Barcelona tomorrow morning with my sister until Friday and then going straight from the airport to the Isle Of Wight for 2 nights camping with my friends! So I imagine it's going to be a fatty, fatty week! At least I'll be doing plenty of walking!

See you guys next week!
